LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - In a major week for new releases, Justin Timberlake scored his first No. 1 solo album, while John Mayer, Bob Seger and Lionel Richie also crashed the upper echelons of the U.S. pop charts, according to Billboard.
The 'N Sync alumnus sold more than 684,400 copies of his sophomore solo outing "FutureSex/LoveSounds" in the week ended September 17, according to Nielsen SoundScan data reported by the trade publication. His solo debut, "Justified," entered at No. 2 with 439,000 copies in 2002.
Timberlake's Jive Records label said in a statement that "FutureSex/LoveSounds" was also No. 1 in Britain, Ireland, Australia and Canada, and top-five in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, France, Denmark, and Hong Kong. The album's first single, "SexyBack," has topped Billboard's Hot 100 chart for four weeks, Jive added.

Usher's album was armed robbery. He has that crack single that everyone went crazy for, they buy the album, and they get a bunch of pansy ass songs. Still a decent album though.
Congrats to Justin Timberlake.

why is it that you bring 50 cent into so many threads that have nothing to do with him? not hate, just curious...

My Love is gonna be huge when the single officially drops. I think it's gonna be on Yeah!'s level.

I'm glad he pushed those numbers, if only because it proves that downloading isn't the reason that record sales are sagging so bad. If people perceive the artist / music to be credible, they will still buy it. Now, sure some people DL and don't buy. So maybe this album would have pushed 750k if there wasn't bootlegging, but it's not like it killed the saleability of it. This is an album that its fan base square on the head, and even managed to give it some credibility on hip hop boards.
So props to J Timberlake and Timbo for puttin it down.
-
i think people are just getting tired of buying albums with one good song on it , so that's why they download. but apparently ( i havn't heard the cd) justin's cd is pretty good so that's why everyone rushed out and bought it. same with usher's cd......i'll say it usher had some classics on that cd. gotta give it up for him. plus i mean look at justin's fan base, middleclass party girls , they're not going to risk looking "ghetto" with a burnt cd,lol

i like the album. jt was the only artist to push over 600,000 first week this year..
last yr u had 50, kanye, coldplay and mjb doin 700+..
record sales are down but if u got a strong fanbase u gonna do good..

^^ Didn't T.I. did 700.000?
I love this album, so I like to see JT selling a lot. Does anybody has the whole soundscan list from this week>?

To answer a couple questions that were asked.
*NSYNC holds the record for biggest debut in history with 2.4 million copies of No Strings Attached sold in its first week.
Rascal Flatts had the biggest debut this year with 722k copies of Me And My Gang sold its first week. I know pretty much nobody on this board listens to country music, but I thought I'd throw that out there.
-
I'd much rather listen to a million pansy songs by Usher than Yeah again.
Congrats to JT.

Because 50 is the benchmark nowadays.
Why does everyone have so much hate for the homie Detox is not not coming?

He's ok, I don't like his single though.
Bitches love it.

Damn the industry is fucked up these days... Don't get me wrong it's impressive numbers but how the fuck Jamie Foxx or Kanye can sell more than JT
