Wassup Gz? I was thinking about the lack of sales of Nate & Warren. You know what? I think i know why West Coast artists aint selling so much. Some of you are too much dickriders to realize that. Too much fans. But u sell a lot of albums if non-fans buy em. So you gotta care about em!
Lemme explain, by calling out the most famous West Coast rappers by names.
SNOOP DOGG
You all know what the whole East Coast fans and 3/4 of the West Coast fans think about him NOW. He used to be a tight MC, maybe the best. But NOW he cant even rap. He's just too high. And he talks!!!! He doesnt rap no more. Just listen to The Chronic and Doggystyle and you'll notice it. Totally different rapper. NOW he's a wack MC trying to sound like a G. Pathetic, cause he can't even scare his kids with his voice. I mean... c'mon!! If you a fan, you'll reply by saying that he's tight as fuck, that you love him, etc... but..... i repeat.... you aint a number 1 because of your fans, but because of ALL the guys (FANS or NOT) who buy your CDs. So they gotta care about what 90% of the rap fans (East-West) thinks about em.
DR. DRE
He made what i consider the best Gangsta rap album ever, The Chronic. He's still the number one, but.. c'mon.. you cant be Dr.Dre, an NWA member, a though guy, a GANGSTA... and work with Eminem and Mary J.Blige. I'm not saying they aint good (it's not about that), but.. c'mon!!!! Mmmmm.. He's still the number one, but.. His problem is different than Snoop's one. He just gotta produce gangsta beats, but he aint shit alone, we all know it. He NEEDS a DPGC album, or a The Chronic 2 album.
KURUPT
Simple as that: his last album is garbage compared to THA STREETZ IZ A MUTHA, and expecially compared to the Kurupt of Tha Chronic and Doggystyle. Totally different. And it's a shame cause he CAN be the number 1 MC of the West. A shame. He really needs to back to his 1992-95 flow. Or at least he needs to make an hardcore album, not a pop album. It's Over? C'mooooooooooonnnn!!
DAZ DILLINGER
He's pratically dead! I mean.. where the fuck is Daz?? Dont tell me WHO RIDE WIT US is an official album. It's a joke! Plus wassup with MAKAVELI & DILLINGER? Just a question: WHY?
SOOPAFLY
Better as a producer than as a rapper. He can hardly rap. Simple as that. His album proved it.
WARREN G
He was dead in the last 3 years. No TV, no RADIO, no collaborations, no MTV or SOURCE AWARDS, nothing. How can he thinks that he can back and sell a platinum album like that?
NATE DOGG
The album is 10x worse than the Warren G one. Just 2-3 good tracks, the rest aint good. His voice is unique. But damn...!!!! Wassup with Daz? Wassup with Warren G??????
XZIBIT
Only one thing: RESTLESS is a disgrace!
How can they think, after all this shit, to make albums like everyday and to sell platinum? It's impossible. I mean guys thinks that West Coast is dead. Simple as that. And you dont go platinum if East Coast fans dont buy your shit too, or if ALL the West Coast fans think that you can still make a great album.
THE SOLUCTION?
Well.. personally i think the only soluction is to make a GREAT West Coast album. Something like THE CHRONIC, executive produced by Dr.Dre (tha best), and with all the best rappers in it. A classic. Guys GOTTA say: "Hey... u heard those West Coast fools? They can still rap!!!". Then they'll buy shit again. For sure.
But what can they say now? "Hey.. u heard Snoop? He still talks about being a G!! Hahahahah.. he's more soft and wack than Eminem! LOL!"
That's the point. They GOTTA work on this shit. They NEEDS this album, for real. 213, NWA or THA CHRONIC2, i dont care. Fuck the beefs, fuck Daz vs Snoop & Dre, fuck all this shit!! THEY GOTTA PROVE THEY CAN STILL RAP! Prove first, sell lata. After Pac's death... tell me a single GOOD album. I mean.... A CLASSIC!! After 1996. MMmmmmmmmmm... dont tell me Dre 2001 is classic. Or that The Wash is classic. Etc.. C'mon!! Just 1!!!!! How can they think to sell platinum albums??????
-
Dre 2001 was the "Chronic 2"... and generated a massive amount of interest when it came out.. *but* 2 years later, and none of the fresh talent previewed on it has dropped. The only established (rap) artists on it that dropped since are Snoop, Kurupt, Xzibit and one not strictly West Coast - Eminem. And for all those artists, it wasn't their first albums.

Dr. Dre - 2001 [CLASSIC]

Only cause it was the return of Dre and because of the beefs with Death Row. BTW yeah.. you can call it Tha Chronic 2, but.. i meant an album like The Chronic, with the whole DPGC in it, plus RBX, Rage, etc..
Like u wrote, in 2001 there are only Kurupt & Snoop! And Nate. No Daz, no Warren G, and.. the most important thing.. no DPGC tracks!!! Just 1 apparence of Nate, 1 of Kurupt and a lot of Snoops.
About the fact that it's a classic..... mmmmmmm.... (but still.. these are opinions so i respect your)

shut the fuck up
that's WHY dre is still on top! he's not a gangster , plus that's why he's still the best at what he does....becuase he doesn't exhaust an old formula that will eventually grow tirsm....i have no respect for producers who refuse to grow or evolve their sound. if dre went back to wearing all black , wearing a white sox hat, making g-funk with heavy bass and high pitched synths....he wouldn't be doing hip hop or it's fans ANY favors....he'd just be backtracking and becoming desperate for a hit.
if you want artist that selll go listen to nelly and all that other bullshit on MTV
just becuase you don't sell don't sell does't mean you're less talented
illmatic is the finest lyrical album ever but it is Nas's worst selling album.....i have no tolorance for people who think platnum plaques equal quality
-
i hate to say but i agree with everything he said except dre an xzibit

Hey.. relax. I'm here to share my opinions, not to diss you. Or to be dissed by u!
First of all my point of the topic is not like u understand it. I mean i know that platinum albums doesnt mean quality. C'mon...
Man.. no offence but your reply is stupid. First of all i've never written that if you sell a lot you a better rapper. I was just talking about the lack of sales and interest around West Coast rap these days. I mean.. Snoop's "Da Game Is To Be Sold, Not To Be Told" sold almost 2 millions of copies, about 3-4x what Kurupt sold with "Tha Streetz Iz A Mutha". And we know the best album. U cant even compare em.
BUT!!!!! Warren G will probably (90%) retire after the lack of sales of ROTR. U care now???
Nate Dogg will probably stop making solo albums. U care now?
Kurupt started well, but... mmmm... he cant live just with 500,000 copies like for "Tha Streetz" or "Space Boogie".
I know that you dont care about sales, but.. this is stupid. We all know that sales doesnt mean quality, but... for a rapper SALES = STIMULUS = PLEASURE TO RAP/WORK 24/7 ON A SONG = OTHER ALBUMS. U know what i mean now?
It's not that if u sell 10x platinum u good. But.. if u do, u continue to rap. If u dont sell good.. u dont live. U betta find a job. U know what i mean??? I bet 300 bucks that Warren will retire after this album.
U care now?
Plus, about Dre, where i was wrong? I just wrote what OTHER GUYS thinks about him! Not what I think. I wrote that personally he's still number one, so.. dont dickride without even reading the post well! ;)
Oh.. and Tom.. do u think Restless is Xzibit's best album? Naw.. i dont think so! It was the most anticipated album of the year. Yeah, it's good, but guys were looking at him like the next Pac (talking about leader. The new leader of the West Coast). Mmmmmm.. i dont think it happened! :-[
-
Restless certified Xzibit a West Coast Heavywieght that album was blazin.. top to bottom.. he's my favorite left coast mc and one of my favorites overall
-
you guarantee warren's gonna retire? i know warren keeps sayin he is goin to, but i don't think so. it may be his last solo album (even though theres nothin really solo about it) but i guarantee he keeps producin. and i don't know if you heard but nate signed a deal with elektra. so you think that because this record didn't do what it could have done he's gonna be like "fuck makin records, i guess i'll go flip burgers"? fuck no. and as for you sayin there has to be another album as good as chronic, do you think alls it takes is them to just say "well lets make this one as good as the chronic" i seriously doubt any of the people you mentioned go into the studio and be like "well i'm gonna go ahead and make a piece of shit album" fact of the matter is there isn't good promotion, and if you're talkin about goin multi-platinum, that means that a lot of white people have to be exposed to the music, and fuckin mtv plays shit from nelly, ludacris, and fuckin benzino for gods sake. snoop has so much shit goin on, it doesn't seem like he puts 100% into his music. damn i got more to say but i gotta shit.
-
Restless certified Xzibit a West Coast Heavywieght that album was blazin.. top to bottom.. he's my favorite left coast mc and one of my favorites overall
Yeah I agree. I don't know why peeps shit on Restless so much. Is it because he turned from "underground" to "gangsta"? I thought the beats were ill on this album except for a few tracks. X's lyrics were on point. They weren't amazing but they were above average.
-
It's all cool about Xzibit. Opinions are welcome! BTW if i'm disappointed with him it cause i really like him. And cause i want MORE from him. ;)
About Warren G.. i dont guarantee he will retire! It's just what i fear! I mean.. he was about to retire after the disaster of "I Want It All", so.. i think he will now. Expecially if u consider that this album is better. Yeah, sure as death he can produce. He produced the album of the Twinz that i personally consider the best-produced G-Funk album ever. He's a very tight producer. But i think he wanted to rap too. To make his own albums. And this is too much for him (i mean... 3 consecutive flops in the charts). He really added a lot of energy in this album. And the results?
About Nate, yeah.. he'll not sell burgers, i know. But.. he'll lost a lot of stimulus to make solo albums. Warren & Nate were both very very positive about their albums. Nate said that he want Santa Claus to give him a platinum album. Same with Warren G. He said that he's back to make a platinum album, the album of the year. And that he's back to stay. Mmmmmmmmmm....
I disagree about promotions, man. Totally. I mean.. maybe it's true for Warren G, or Daz, but c'mon... do u think Snoop needs promotion???? Naw.. Or Xzibit? Or all the other MC's? Naw.. They well known worldwide, man. Even in Europe.
I really think that they gotta make a classic album again, cause those Europeans are more into East Coast now. U said:
as for you sayin there has to be another album as good as chronic, do you think alls it takes is them to just say "well lets make this one as good as the chronic" i seriously doubt any of the people you mentioned go into the studio and be like "well i'm gonna go ahead and make a piece of shit album"
Well.. dont tell me that Snoop had stimulus making albums for No Limit!! Or that he used 100% of his power into this album. Or let's talk about The Wash? Or Bones? Or Eastsidaz?? C'mon.. They needs to back living and working together. Warren G said that they all for the money now. That they used to be friends, but now they all about money. Well.. it's sad but it's true. They aint friends no more. They dont spend days together in the studio like in 1992-96. They aint spending time together. Damn, even Kurupt & Daz made their last DPG album in a pair of weeks cause they had busy shedules. WTF??? They aint Pac. They cant do that! They really need to support each others and to HELP each others.
That's why The Chronic is classic! Cause they spent a lot of time together to make it!!!!! TOGETHER!!! Warren G, Daz and Soopa helped Dre with the production, Snoop helped Dre with the lyrics (not sure, but.. i bet it!), etc.. U know what i mean???? Together! I cant really understand why the fuck Warren G aint in the Nate album. Is Nate stupid? Why Dre aint in Warren G's album? Damn, even Warren G dont know why!!!!
Why is Daz dissing Snoop & Dre? Fuck that. Take it personal and work with em, fool!! They made you! Why they aint making a 213 album? Why they aint making an NWA album? Cause they busy making funny movies and SHITTY soundtracks. 50% R&B and 50% garbage! They care only about the money. About collaborations. About movies. About this shit. It's a fact that all their last albums aint as good as their first ones. Do you think it's all about PROMOTION? Naw..
-
They weren't amazing but they were above average.
Above average. Yeah.
Can u imagine if Crooked I will make an average album? Or just a pretty good album? His album is maybe the most anticipated one of the whole West Coast. Can u imagine it? The more you go on, the more u need to make better albums. That's what i call a GOOD rapper. Some1 who can IMPROVE, not the opposite. Xzibit's album is good. I wrote it. But nothing compared to what i hoped.
-
big jake said that platnum plaques dont equal quality. that is very true now cuz of the evolution of technology. with everyone burning cds now they dont need to go out and buy a $25 dollar album when they can burn it for less than a buck. u dont need to sell 9 million copies before its considered a *CLASSIC* and artists have to change their style cuz they are appealin to different audiences.
Peace
-
hey man i said that i don't think snoop put 100% into his work. and yes promo has a lot to do with sales. you referred to the twinz album. that album was unfuckingbelievable. nobody thats heard it will deny that. the problem is not that many people have heard it. under promoted. even though that was back in the day. unless your somebody that comes here everyday not many people knew that warren was droppin. the day i bought it there were several of my friends that had no idea warren had a new cd out. i doubt i'll see his video on mtv. fuck maybe they're playin but i can't stand to watch mtv. i think i saw nates video once on BET. i mean kurupt-where the fuck is the second single? supposed to be on onsite. maybe it wasn't poppy enough. now theres no way in hell promotion is the sole reason these albums aren't doin what they're supposed to. but it has a lot to do with it. by the way, i guarantee when quik's new cd drops, its gonna be some tight shit. do you think it'll do great sales wise? fuck no. maybe in cali. the majority of people have no fuckin clue who quik is. its the same shit over and over. i don't know. its frustrating as fuck to me
-
that is the main problem with the west coast right now. Everyone associates the West Coast with Snoop, Dre, Cube, Nate DOgg, and now Xzibit (aka the West Coast Monopoly). I'm glad that Xzibit has blown up, but the quality of his work isn't up to par as his first 2 albums, and you can tell Snoop's influence, because now he thinks he's super crip right along Snoop and Daz. I'm not gonna even mention Kurupt making that "It's over now", because it backfired on him. He was trying to go very commercial, but it didn't help sell his album. Everyone brings up Death Row living in the past, but what about Daz? All of his "releases" on DPG Recordz have been bootlegged Death Row shit or robbing other artists of potential album sales, except for the Dillinger/Young Gotti cd. And Warren G? He's absolutely right. His friends would rather make a lot money selling shit to crossover fans than make quality music for their true fans.
The West Coast needs newer faces out there besides those mentioned above. Crooked I's album will be worth the wait. Also, I'm interested in what this E-White sounds like. Eastwood has sounded tight on the couple of tracks I've heard him on, same with Spider Loc. Also, some of those who have paid their dues deserve to get some spotlight, such as WC, who sadly will most likely join Warren G, Richie Rich, South Central Cartel, and Jayo Felony in the "Def Jam does not know how to market West Coast music" club. It would be nice if Jayo blew up as well, cuz after the shit he went through with that company, he deserves it. They need the new faces to step up and the people who paid their dues need to take over the west coast monopoly. When this happens, expect more respect from the various hip-hop magazines. Otherwise, people will only associate west coast rap with the West Coast Monopoly.

actuallly Dr. Dre is on Warren g's new cd....
soopafly wasn't even around when the chronic was made
warren and daz didn't "help" dre make the chroni...warren and the rest of the dpg have siad that dre produced 90% of the chronic ....the glove was the only other producer to put ANY input in on that album....warren and daz were learning from dre back then
the 213 alum is coming in 2002.,..warren even says it on his new album
daz has squashed his beef with snoop and dre
so please make more concious posts and speak on stuff you know about
-
1. Dre aint in the Warren G CD. He just produced 1 track.
2. Soopa was a friend of Daz. He didnt have a track rapping, and he didnt produced tracks, but he was close with Daz and Snoop. Ok, maybe not in Tha Chronic, but in the 1992-1996 era he helped for sure
3. About Warren G and Daz, just read those interviews of Daz saying this shit. The "Dre took all the credits" shit. Plus i didnt wrote they produced tracks, but that they helped
4. 213 album in 2002? Mmmmm.. like the NWA album? Or like the DPGC album? Talk talk talk! But Warren said that he personally doesnt know a shit about the album. Who will make it if Warren doesnt even know about it? Snoop alone? Snoop + Goldie + Kokane? Who?
5. Daz - But he aint working with em. And Daz said he'll never work with Dre again.
-
ha ha , anyways ::)
this is whut tha 3/4 of the eastcoast think like u said b4.. thats it. we ain't living by the east but by the entire rap game , east west south , mid west etc.... and i disagree with most of it xzibit was hott. dr.dre , hmm.. nuff said... snoop ... still hott. even when he drop tha last meal , he was #4 i think , because of the backstreets boys, the beatles n some other thang.. that ain't his fault , he just drop a bad day.. but he still sold 400.000 the first week.. n he's from the west so that good , really good , snoop n dre are the only who sold a lot in the first week like that .. the won't fell off...hmm next , naww fuck dat. i said enough
-
Once again I totally disagree. Everything you said was complete nonsense, even your marks on Snoop not being able to rap anymore... you obviously have not heard his recents songs, but then again, you thought he died when Doggfather came out. I don't know how you can diss Dre... you try to tell me that he isn't good because he produces for Eminem and Mary J Blige... considering they represent the best in their music (Rap & R&B) ... Then you try to tell me Warren dropped a peice of shit, but his album is one of the best Westcoast albums since 2001. It's also one of the best overall albums this year. Then you spit nonsense on how Nate Dogg is just terrible. Now I'll give you two pennies for your thought, but the album is not all you make it out to be. If Nate was so terrible how come he was featured on almost every major release this year? Then you have this theory about Xzibit and how Restless was a disgrace, I was almost waiting for the audience to gasp at that comment, but I saw tomatoes fly in your direction. Xzibit's album was one of the best last year and is one of the best Westcoast albums...

Man.. is it 4 am over there? Cause u obviously didnt read what i wrote well! ;D
First of all i think Warren G's album is the best not only of 2001, but of 2000 too. Where u read about me saying that his album is bullshit???? In no way, man!!
Where i dissed Dre for working with Eminem & Mary J.Blige? Man.. i just wrote what i heard from other guys, expecially from guys from Europe or East Coast. It's the same with Snoop Dogg, man. I wrote: "You all know what the whole East Coast fans and 3/4 of the West Coast fans think about him NOW.......". I was talking like i was one of em, but i'm obviously here in this West Coast Board cause i'm a fan, not an hater.
About Nate & Xzibit... well... again i reported what i've heard, but.. to tell you the truth.. I dont really like Nate's album (even if Nate is on fire this year) and about Restless, i'm not the only one who thinks it's Xzibit's worse album ever. I think 90% of the guys (not ONLY West Coast dickriders) can admit it.
Again.. dont blaime me! I'm a West Coast fan. I just wrote this shit to report what other guys thinks about West Coast rappers now. You cant totally ignore this shit, man! Open your eyes! They are having problems with sales, and that's a fact. West Coast rap aint in the same level of East Coast right now (RIGHT NOW). They need to fix something, to change something. Nas sold very well in his first week, same with Ludacris. Well... West is not on the map right now.
The reasons? Dont dickride, but use your mind.
I told you my opinion (a lack of a classic album, with em all together + the fact that recent albums aint in the same level as the 1992-1996 ones).
Mack_11 gave me his opinion (thanx). But i'm not hearing opinions. Just dickriders dickriding. THESE ARE NOT MY OPINIONS. And you dont have to explain me that West Coast rappers are better than East Coast ones. Or that Mary J.Blige and Eminem are ok. I know this shit.
I was talking about problems with sales and opinions of the whole world but US 100% WEST COAST FAN. U know what i mean?
Holla! ;)
-
i just wrote what i heard from other guys, expecially from guys from Europe or East Coast.
thats what u should do , that why people dissagree with you
but i'm obviously here in this West Coast Board cause i'm a fan, not an hater.
that don'T mean shit, we got all kind of bitches up in here. ;D
I just wrote this shit to report what other guys thinks about West Coast rappers now.
once again , u here to make your opigion ,not to write the other one.. n if u report so shit , they can be facts , like if u take then frm another site. but still feel free to wrote whats on your mind dogg ;)

Wassup Gz? I was thinking about the lack of sales of Nate & Warren. You know what? I think i know why West Coast artists aint selling so much. Some of you are too much dickriders to realize that. Too much fans. But u sell a lot of albums if non-fans buy em. So you gotta care about em!

DR. DRE
He made what i consider the best Gangsta rap album ever, The Chronic. He's still the number one, but.. c'mon.. you cant be Dr.Dre, an NWA member, a though guy, a GANGSTA... and work with Eminem and Mary J.Blige. I agree 100% on everything you just said. Unfortunately, all the Snoop dickriders are going to jump on you for merely telling the truth.

why u trippin over the snoop dogg fan once again , u provoque us , thats why we jump on you , not because u gave your opigion , dawm ::).... oh, n u didn't say why u totally agree, r u agreeing just to make us sick or u got your reasons ???

Hey hey.. chill! ;D
I think your are watching at this post in the wrong way! It's not about IS SNOOP STILL GOOD?
It's about: Ok, they got problems. Why? How to solve em? I wanna read opinions about it, not about Snoop, ok?

hey man i'm not dickridin shit. you state your opinion and you want people to respect it? well how about when somebody else expresses their opinion you not immediately label them dickriders. a lot of these posts weren't arguin with you, they were correcting some of your statements that were inaccurate. so just relax a little

1. you JUST contradicted yourself
2. Soopafly wasn't doing crap on the row until 96'....and that's a fact
3. i trust what warren, snoop, and basically everyone else on the chronic says over what Daz says becuase Daz is a proven liar and exadurator plus suge was talking through him
4. dude you fucking don't own Return of the Regulaor do you where warren says "213, it's comin, so start the tape decks runnin"....and every time i've seen interviews wher they ask about the 213 alum Warren has been possitive about it coming out this coming year i don't know where you're pulling this shit out of your ass about how he doesn't even know ::)
5. Actually Daz is DESPERATE to work with them.....it was even on a Julio G interview......"i'm hollerin at them but they ain't hollerin' at me"
like i said before quit being ignorant

Unfortunately, all the Snoop dickriders are going to jump on you for merely telling the truth.
hey JABRONI or some , i was talkin about that so would u pleez mind your business pleez ::)
-
I'll admit Snoop has changed, but to me its for the better... I like his music a lot better than back in his Deathrow days... so label me if you want... my ass is wide open... i mean my mind

the only thing that could save the west now is quite simply 2Pac, if the alive theories are true
-
Like "Closetodalimit" said, 2Pac would KILL the east with an appearence and a new album AND i totally agree with "GDUBB213" about his post(1st one), right now the west is dead and thats a fact!! OK OK Dreīs still on top of everything and thats something we all agrees about.
About heīs "real busy" thang...wzup with that!? The only thing Dre seems to do right now is dropping a beat here, and another there, have he ever thought about producing a whole album again for another artist except for himself?
Oh! i forgot, the album that will bring the west back will be "Oh my god" if it ever drops...
Detox is too far away from now to be a savior, but it would definetly be the album that would kill da west right next to a new Pac album(by an alive pac) & "Oh my god"
I dont think "Knocīs landin" & Snoops new one will save the west, just bring it down even more, UNLESS Dre produces 90% of it like snoops been claiming 4 about 2-3 years.
This is the real fact sad but true....
Peace

4. dude you fucking don't own Return of the Regulaor do you where warren says "213, it's comin, so start the tape decks runnin"....and every time i've seen interviews wher they ask about the 213 alum Warren has been possitive about it coming out this coming year i don't know where you're pulling this shit out of your ass about how he doesn't even know ::) --> TRUE
5. Actually Daz is DESPERATE to work with them.....it was even on a Julio G interview......"i'm hollerin at them but they ain't hollerin' at me" --> yea on the SOURCE he said he aint makin music wit them no more but thats bullshit... in an freestyle/interview on 106 the beat he said hell be on detox and the DPGC album WILL deffinatiley happen!
