Laron Profit & Kimani Ffriend Join Grizzlies Roster (http://www.nba.com/grizzlies/news/training_camp_roster-060930.html)
Memphis, Tennessee, September 30, 2006 – The Grizzlies finalized their training camp roster with the signings of free agent guard Laron Profit and center Kimani Ffriend, it was announced by President of Basketball Operations Jerry West today. The team will open training camp on Tuesday, Oct. 3 at the Methodist Healthcare Practice Facility at FedExForum.
Profit, 6-5, 204 pounds, has appeared in 135 games in the NBA, including time with the Washington Wizards and the Los Angeles Lakers. Last season with Los Angeles, he averaged 4.2 points and 1.7 rebounds in 25 games. Ffriend, 6-11, 220 pounds, was a member of the Grizzlies’ 2005 training camp roster and also played for the Grizzlies 2005 Summer Pro League team where he averaged 8.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.14 blocks in seven games.
The Grizzlies will open their preseason schedule on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at Houston before returning home the following night, Oct. 11, to face Atlanta at 7 p.m. at FedExForum.
Well, Profit was a great back-up for Kobe, it's just too bad he had to fall to that hamstring injury. Will be interesting to see if he makes the final roster or not...How the Grizzles could look:

Not bad, but I still don't see them doing much in the west this year...Especially with the loss of Shane Battier, that should be big...PeACe

Jerry West is doing good. Nothin major but eventually I see the Grizzlies bein a great team. Especially if Rudy Gay pans out.

Memphis, Tennessee, October 13, 2006 – Memphis Grizzlies President of Basketball Operations Jerry West today announced the team has requested waivers on center Kimani Ffriend and guard/forward Laron Profit.
The Grizzlies roster now stands at 16.
Too bad for Profit...Unfortunately for him, our foward-guard position is overstacked with young talent :-\

Someone will pick him up. He is a good role player. It was crazy watching Laker games when he was out on the floor. His build and stature is almost the same as Kobe's. You have to double take until you see him shoot the ball.

I have a feeling that we woulda' taken care of the Suns in 5 or 6 had Profit never went down with that hamstring injury... :-\
