Title: Weekly Betting
Post by: On The Edge of Insanity on October 08, 2006, 04:15:12 PM
Considering we have a lot of people on here who are into various sports, football, basketball, ice hockey, baseball, american football, etc, and I would therefore consider a decent amount of knowledge on each of these sports, would it not make sense for us to have a weekly thread in which the people who know about certain sports drop their tips for the week. That way the people who may want to bet on sports they themselves are not 100% familiar with will be able to use the knowledge base of those who do in order to (hopefully) make some money.

Anyone down for this?

PS - The Lakers aren't going to win every single game this season no matter what their legion on this broad may predict so I'd suggest people would allow for that before actually putting money down on the predictions.

You would have to be very dumb to be taking the advice of people on this forum as far as sports bets go.  Might as well just light your money on fire.

For people that want to get into sportsbetting here are some links:

There is money to be made.  The sportsbook MANSION offered a $1000 free bet on the first Monday nighter of the year.  I took advantage of it, hedged it, and profited about $500.  Made that my starting bankroll for the NFL season.

We should make a thread where WCC users simply agree to betting on sporting games, no over/unders (unless mutually agreed upon). We should open a thread for every sport and have users agree to be permanantly banned if bitching out on a bet...PeACe

Thats not going to work internationally and theirs a lot more chance of people making excuses like "I sent it three weeks ago, you still ain't got it?" and that type of shit. Paypal is the easiest way by far.

The thing is, if we have the agreement of being permanantly banned for bitching out, then there won't be (m)any problems. We also can't allow PLANT to participate, cuz he already bitched out on a bet we made last season about the Lakers. :-\

To me it just leaves less room for dispute if we use Paypal and I'd certainly only bet with people who were going to pay by paypal. However, if other people are happy to do it through the post then thats fine for them. I think overall its a good idea though, just need approval on the banning thing from Seer or whoever else has the ability to ban people.
