So far so good the production and lyrics been on point but the promotion sucks and i dont think snoop is pickin the correct singles..it would be ashame to see snoop put out his best album since doggystyle and it does'nt sell shit.
-
I think it will go gold. I hope this R Kelly featured single blows up and he chooses one of the dr dre produced songs as the next single.
-
When's the drop date again?
-
I mean, he still has a good amount of time before the album drops. I think it comes out like November 19th or somethin.
He NEEDS to get Candy out at these clubs as soon as possible though...that shit will be major, nationwide, please believe me. Vato was not really a good single for people outside of L.A., but the R. Kelly single has potential to be a nice laid back track that could catch many ears.
But it's Snoop...just like Cube, he'll sell 60,000 off his name alone...the rest will be determined by his production, promotion, and choice of singles.
-
i dont see no reason for him not to hit his usual platinum...it would suck if he didnt...keep the streak alive
vato was the street joint,...his album is a month n a half away....
at least one more joint is being dropped before his album, and for sure there wll be a third joint
but he does need to go more mainstream
he'll go gold if he drops his album tomorrow alone

I have always said this about Snoop. He is good to go plat every time out, but what separates him from plat and multi plat is his selection of singles. I think the last joint went 1.7. I agree with RTistic, there is something about that song Candy beat wise that is the shit in the club. They play that beat and the song out here in Vegas and people be going dumb off that shit. So I will say between 1-2 million, 2 mil plus just depending on what singles he drops (ones with dre ;D)

Hell yeah, I heard that shit on the radio in Vegas before I heard it on L.A. radio. It is definitely aimed at the Hyphy movement.

Oh man, you would think that was his first single out here. We got a club out here called OPM at Caesers Palace and they play the shit out of that song. I think Snoop has alot of potential singles on this one so I would be surprised if it didn't go plat.

he'll sell a platinum album easily. R&G still went 1.7 mill, and hes only become bigger of a perrsona since then.
This album is geared way more to the fans in my opinion. wait till you guys hear Gangbangin 101. The biggest west coast anthem you damn near heard since Still Dre.

Who was that produced by? Can you say?
-
i believe 1.5 Mil for sure.
-
I dont think he will sell much..i dont know why, he needs to drop a Strong Lead Single like "Still D.R.E" , Vato is cool , but its not strong enough, Candy is a nice Club joint but it will have the same impact as "You And Dat" ,and "Thats That Shit" is dope but its not something to drop as a single, he needs a song that will make everybody anticipating his album...its strange cuz he got back with Dr.Dre, If i was him I would get Dre to produced the first single..and also the promotion...no ads, no interviews, no Photoshoot...they are doing a bad job promotion wise...Im not expecting a flop...but if he doesnt get his mind right...he wont sell much
-
100 Million easily
-
I think he wont hit plat, unless the dre and him collabs are top notch. I'm probably going to buy the album and buy the best songs off the DA off iTunes.
-
he'll do 200,000 the first week...
I think it'll be a good minute before he hits Platinum...
Gold sounds for reasonable... there isn't too much of a buzz... but he does have a month left to promote

He did not say classic but he was pumping up the album alot.
-
Snoop got his "gangsta" audience back on this one.
He is in the eye of the public as much as when he first came out....
I think it will sell 3 or 4 mill. If not more.
-
His fan base is strong enough that I can easily see him hitting Platinum. Somehow, tho, I doubt the mainstream's gonna embrace him as much as before...we've all noticed by now that "Vato" isn't doing well on the radio, and I dunno if he's got anything that's gonna be as big as "Drop It Like It's Hot" or "Beautiful".

it's because he works for Doggystyle and he got a pre-release copy.... apparently that was better than the final product
-
It depends how many copies his label buys this time

Wow you can WORK for Doggystyle? Tell them to get on their job over there then and put Soopafly out ;D. But he was hyping the shit out of that. He was quiet after it dropped though.
-
I don't know exactly what it is that he does but he's got some sort of affiliation...

yeah i was hyping cali iz active. unfortunately the final product turned out worse than the earlier versions. Beats got tweaked, features were added, songs were taken out, and it kind of just took away some of the cohesiveness of the album. I mean you had the Busta Rhymes track that was taken out, that was one of the most solid. The alchemist joint was taken out, that was solid as hell too. The beat for Keep It Gangsta was tweaked so that it didnt hit as hard, the bassline used to be real thumpin, but on the final release, the beat sounds weaker. Lady of Rage wasnt even originally on the Keep it Gangsta, but not that she made it any worse. And there was just a ton more changes that i didnt think were positive for the final release.
but i mean i also admitted there were definitely weak points. I cant really stand the paul wall track make dat pussy talk, or that David banner song, or that jazze pha song she likes that. Dont think that since i work with the camp, that i am totally biased. I am still a fan before anything else, and I know when shit is weak and i wont deny it.
but i'm being serious here. Gangbangin 101 is going to be the biggest anthem since Still Dre in my opinion.
-
hopefully more than R&G
-
I'm just kidding. You hardly ever get a release other than Snoop before the last year or so from Doggystyle.

Damn, like that? I hope all those changes were not from Snoop. I always got the vibe from that album that was what Snoop wanted the Dogg Pound to be. His vision and Daz's & Kurupt's are completely different to me imo for a DPG album.
-
Bottom line, it is hard to tell what DPGC releases will do because every release has BIG shoes to fill. Like Kurupt said on SDDS, "We have so many classics it's stupid". They have kinda hit their ceiling as far as classic material. The other reason is the elements that made Doggystyle and other albums dope are either "on a couple of tracks", or did not show up. For example, Doggystyle & Doggfather are 2 completely different albums. Doggystyle- Dre, Doggfather- Daz, Dj Pooh. But Snoop still kept it all family on Doggfather so it still had a uniform sound to me. What do you get now from Snoop? 30 different producers and a few dpg. I am not saying that he needs dpg to sell, but at the same time his albums sound all over the place because he is getting guests all over the place.
Same with Bone and Uneek. When that sound changes it is a adjustment across the board. You can tie in the lyrics lacking also but for the most part the sound has changed. Now to Snoop's credit he has adapted to many different sounds but he still needs that "musical director" to his music. Hopefully he will sound more uniform with this release.

Platinum no doubt

when is this joint dropping?
now chuuuuuuuuuuch 8)
