I cant fuckin stand his movies, dude just isnt funny in them....which is weird cuz usually his standup is decent. is it just me?

yeah, im not really a fan of his movies, he's dope in bad boys & bad boys 2, other than that I can't really watch his movies

these were all decent and House Party is a classic, but it wasnt because of Martin lawrence that i liked them

I think in his movies he gets caught up trying to be gimmick-y and shit. He's patterning his act to that of Eddie Murphy, and I'm not talking Bev. Hills Cop or 48 hours. He's dressing up in fat suits ( Big Momma's / Nutty Prof ) and doing watered down, almost kiddie movies. (Just like Eddie) His more raw movies, Bad Boys 1 and 2 are better because he's not relying on BS to get a laugh. He's ALMOST playing himself and not going too overboard. ANd I'm sure it helps to have someone like Will Smith to feed off of.

most his movies suck and I won't even watch them, but that dude is funny as hell. one of the funniest stand ups I ever seen, and that was the censored version

Like someone else said, he signs on for a lot of watered down films, but he is by no means a bad actor...In fact, I like a good portion of his movies.
"House Party" and both "Bad Boys" movies are classic. "Nothing 2 Lose", "Blue Streak", and "National Security" were hilarious. Then he has his more gimmicky movies like "Big Momma's House", "Black Knight", and "Rebound", which still aren't THAT bad...Overall, he's a very funny guy and though he might take some bullshit roles, he's done some great stuff...PeACe

yea, seems like he's been making movies of the family genre lately but the earlier stuff was funny. the sitcom got stale as time went on, it was hella funny though because all the characters were classic
