Oh boy, now the haters are going to come in and say it's over for X. For today standards and the fact he is on Koch, that is not bad. Not great either but not bad.

To say it's not bad is an understatement, I knew that the numbers would be low but that low is laughable. :grumpy:

I don't know anymore what is good and bad. Really not alot of promotion for the album other than a Letterman appearance and what you see on the internet.

damn thats bad, even hi-tek did better than him, and he's coming out real independently.  I mean really what do you expect though, Concentrate isn't really making any noise as a single.

Yeah man, that's hella low. I dont get it, I mean the promo wasnt all that, but he's on tour, he has a video on rotation, performed on shows like Jimmy Kimmel and Letterman but it still aint doing shit. Koch is a major indie, so he should be able to sell at least 80K

That's 160,000$ straight down his pockets, prolly more than most Interscope rappers get by going triple platinum lol.

that concentrate song ain't goin home at all. My friend told me the other day that he really thought the album was gonna be like that song so he didn't even look for it. He said that song was the worse song he has ever heard. haha

The music industry is in BAD shape right now. Major labels are trimming the fat and only rollin with what is hot. So when that dies off they start all over again. I am a little surprised by the numbers for X and alot of other artists for that matter.

You can't blame it on Koch. Since it's a Major Independent the artist NEEDS runs the show (for the most part). Xzibit just chose a bad first single.

True that. But outlets like Dubcnn, allhiphop, and others do help.

Damn. Y'all know I love X, I ain't no hater, but I am a little suprised by the #s...They are very low. Isn't that lower then what Daz did? I hope that X don't be on some "Fuck the industry, I ain't making no more music" and shit. Aww well, hot album. I honestly thought 30,000 would be his minimum. Between that & 50,000. Whoever said 80,000, that would of been a complete shock 2 me. What bothers me is even when X makes a bitch track that he thinks will catch on, it don't. Yet, Jibbs will prolly sell thru the roof.

Damn....he did about 80,000 last time, and that wasn't too bad to me. But ah, 20,000....but what can you expect, I would have had NO IDEA it came out if I didn't visit this site every day.

Concentrate caught some ears...but most people didn't like it much. I know I don't feel it much, and I usually like most Rick Rock tracks.

bad sales but I'm not surprised.  X should of picked a different single, and like Tistic said if it wasnt for this site I wouldnt even of known the album was getting released so it's not to surprising that the numbers are low, but I admit I am surprised a lil just cause 20,000 is real low for X.

lol. To be honest I'd be suprised if he does release another 1. Look at some west coast cd's that have flopped, most didn't have a 2nd single. Some that come 2 mind @ the moment Daz's So So Gangsta, Knoc's Way I Am, Too $hort's Blow the Whistle, Mack 10's Hustla Handbook.

If you fuck wit the industry, you'd know that KOCH has been fuckin up their shippings lately, they don't put enough emphasis on 1st week sales anymore for some reason....they don't get product to some stores on time, and more importantly they tend not to ship enough. They push for longetivity, but I don't even know if that's working 4 their artists. The more artists they sign, the slower their push gets. Xzibit is doing alot of lil club and car shows, his promo isn't too bad, he in the streets pushing, but why he would choose such a poor single is beyond me.

I think MAYBE this can be saved with a 2nd & 3rd single. Release Family Values next, and maybe like Thank You.

Here is all the promotion for the album....

Interview on Allhiphop.com

David Letterman and Jimmy Kimmel

He performed at Knotts Scary Farm last wednesday for Scion Night.  That however was not reported anywhere and he was nowhere on the lineup.  He just showed up and performed a handful of songs.

20k is not great but he is still getting paid.  I mean you people swear that he is not making more then most of us make in a year on 20k sold.  WHO CARES THO!! Dont let sales dictate if its good or bad for you.

Xzibit said it best himself back in 2004 on "Criminal Set" on "Weapons of Mass Destruction":

But lately I've been feelin like Will Smith
Why bother with rap when I can get 20 mill' on a flick?

Damn that sucks. For a veteran of the rap game, the type of label Koch is, X's celebrity status, there is no way you can say this ain't a disapointment. O well, at least he's getting is money I guess. Like Rod said Koch usually gears towards 2 week and future sales, but I don't think he has a chance of selling a "good" amount of records.

Just the fact he's on KOCH is funny to me. But I was at a couple of functions he was at in the past month and he looked like he just gettin drunk and havin a ball with his folks, he got money, I don't think that's even an issue anymore when it comes to puttin out albums. He prolly just taking a break from TV and having some fun, plus the folks at KOCH is easy to get along with from what I've heard, not too much label drama. Alot of artistic freedom.. they just gotta organize their bidness a bit more.

As long as he's still does the occasional rap, why shouldn't this be his last album? He's already had a crazy career and many classic songs. If he wants to quit while he's still ahead that good for him. Why should he continue until he fades into obscurity like other cats (eg Warren G).

It's not really about the money they get or if it dictates how good or bad somethin is for us....but with most of us being fans of these artists, we are hoping to see them sell as much as possible, mainly because sales have a MAJOR effect on what happens in the future. When artists sell, it opens the gate for other artists, and since most of us are rooting for the west coast to be a major factor, we are hoping that every major artist to come out will sell a lot more than a few thousand.

Well to most fans, You really don't wanna see 1 of your fav. rappers retire. Yes, he's had a crazy career, but lol as a fan I want new music every 2/3 years from him. And he isn't showing signs of losing his skills, Full Circle is pretty dope. And I have to disagree with the Warren G comment. I think "In The Mid-Nite Hour" was a pretty dope album. Knoc-Turn'Al is my fav rapper, and his latest LP Return Of The Hustler was bad. But I'll take 10 more of those, then none at all. Fuck what all the haters say/would say about him. That's just me.

When I said "fades into obscurity" I didn't been talent wise. I ment fading hip hop fans' eyes. He use to be one of the hottests stars in rap (99-00 era) then he went to respected rapper. What I'm worried about is that he'd continue until no one cares about him. I used Warren G as an example because he went from multi-platinum selling rapper to nobody even knowing that In the Mid-Nite Hour dropped (except for hardcore West Coast rap fans). Don't want that happening to Xzibit.

Iight, my bad. I totally agree with you thier, Commercially Warren G was a BIG disapointment after his 1st LP. What did "Look Over Your Shoulder" do #'s wise? I know after that, I Want It All went gold, Return of the Regulator & In The Mid-Nite Hour flopped.

Not suprised by the numbers...I knew he wasn't going to sell that much anyway.....This album is pretty bad and has zero replay value.... A few songs are alright, but nothing really stands out on the album...The first single is garbage and doesn't really fit X's style...WOMD was 1000x better then this...Not even Quik could save this album from being a coaster...With X doing HOB tours, I would have expected him to move at least 50k first week, but again not surprised he moved what he did....I know X can put out a much better effort then this....This is almost as bad as MVM, in fact it is worse....

I think this album has ok replay value. I'm still listening to it. I think that all 3 Jelly Roll tracks are dope, Poppin' Off, Thank You, Say It To My Face. The only tracks I really dis-like are "The Whole World" & "Rampart Division". I also thought MVM was dope 2. Symphony In X Major, Multiply, Break Yourself, Heart Of Man, Harder, My Name are dope. And then tracks like Choke Me, Spank Me (Pull My Hair) & Losin' Your Mind were ok. I thought the album got pretty weak at the end.

And by the way the internet isn't killing the music industry.  Clueless executives, wack ass music, next to ZERO originality all hurt much worse.

But Xzibit has had TOO MANY changes of character throughout his career...and I think that has hurt him more than anything else, because no one is sure of what his identity really is. And he does some very stupid things when he's coked out.

I expect he will do better the second week, with people having a whole week ahead of time to see it's available.  And plus the people that did buy it this week will give feedback that it's not an album full of "Concentrate".

bad sales but I'm not surprised.  X should of picked a different single, and like Tistic said if it wasnt for this site I wouldnt even of known the album was getting released so it's not to surprising that the numbers are low, but I admit I am surprised a lil just cause 20,000 is real low for X.

What's fuked up is that I LIVE in Cali and I didn't even realize his album came out last week until one of my boys said something about it.

The reason why I care about his sales is because I like his music. Therefore I want him to be successful.

What kills me is before a album comes out, people hype it, when it leaks, people are usually still high on it and say they will buy it. Once these soundscan numbers come out and they are low, people change their mind on the same album they were bumping the week before. It's like peer pressure or mind control not to like the album because "only 40,000 people copped it this week". If ya like the album, cool, bump it. If not leave it on the shelf or don't click the link.

I still didn't get a chance to buy the fuckin' album.

When my money grows its legs back and magically reappears I'm goin' to SUPPORT X and buy the album. I still didn't even get to hear it...Is it really that bad??

Big Rich did, so right away you should edit your first sentence. you bay guys hyped it up like he was really gonna move units. 1,128 in week 1 HAHAHA! Federation wont sell neither were the Pack.

Plus if your gonna diss me fine, but get your facts straight, I'm from Jersey not Philly. Just click on my name, or are you to dumb to do so?

However Philly=Cassidy  Jersey=Joe Buddens. They might not be releasing anything lately, but when they do, they put the entire bay to shame.

Certainly not great numbers, but considering the #1 album debuted with only 176k+ it's not that bad. Especially since Diddy has insane amounts of money to spend on promotion.

Xzibit said it best himself back in 2004 on "Criminal Set" on "Weapons of Mass Destruction":

But lately I've been feelin like Will Smith
Why bother with rap when I can get 20 mill' on a flick?

LOL @ that, X aint seeing no where NEAR 20 mill a flick, at best he maybe making a cool mill

the TOP A-list actors be making 20mil a flick not another rapper turned actor  ::)

if X gets $5 or more per CD then thats an easy million....i aint no math matician but thats pretty damn good if ya ask me.

btw, why do the numbers matter so much?

if youre gonna support then support, why talk about low numbers....that is just gonna push people away from buying it.imo.

instead of making topics about how low and pathetic the numbers are, make topics about why people should buy this album.  like everyone said, the industry is in a bad place right now, and we need to support indy rappers, especially WEST COAST indy rappers.

just my two cents.
