is there that much good new r&b nowadays? anything outstanding like old school Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey? or anything like Brian Mcknight's "Back At One"? K-Ci and JoJo's "All My Life"? Babyface's "When Can I See You Again"? or anything by Luther Vandross?
I got Darien Brockingtons album which is ok but not matchable to anything above. The closest i can really match to anything i just mentioned is Ne-Yo and i still wouldn't call any of his songs classic.
Reccomendations please!

Neyo's shit definitely. Chris Brown is pretty tight, I'll admit.
There's not a real lot of good stuff out lately. Only like a few good songs. A lot of R&B sounds like Hip Hop today.
Some tight joints (most recent):
Cherish - Unappreciated
Ruben Studdard - Change Me
Beyonce - Irreplaceable
Mary J Blige - Take Me As I Am

I'd recommend John Legend and Robin Thicke for recent r&b albums.

John Legend, yeah
Bobby Valentino is good too
