I say the Docs Advocate.
i just think overall that there are more solid tracks, or less filler tracks. maybe i picked it because its new.
however, both albums are no where near classics, maybe the best album of the year(Docs Advocate)...but not a classic. :stupid:
who ya got? 8)
-
DA for me. I wasn't a big fan of The Documentary. It was good but not great.
-
damn finally got my hands ona copy of doctors advocate, shits dope west coast feel.
-
WAAAAY too early to compare....but I think many people are just too hyped up because it's such a surprise, and because it's new.
This is similar to people sayin Chronic 2001 was better than Chronic...Flesh of my Flesh was better than It's dark and hell is hot.....or the 2000 Lakers were better than the 88 Lakers. One major reason people may say DA is better is because they played The Doc out, and new music always sounds better than something you've played out. But if you play both in five or ten years, it's a different story.
With that....I still think The Doc is a better album, not by a whole lot, but by a noticeable difference.

Couldnt of said it any better.

as of now i like the docs advocate. this shit is hot
-
how about waiting a couple of months before making topics like this. Everybody's still full of DA.. I think the Doc's better on the long term
-
Hard to say right now. I'm feelin "The Doctor's Advocate" a lot more though because I don't have to hear 50 singin on Game yellin g-g-g-g-unit on any songs. And because it sounds more West Coast.
But like R-Tistic said, it could just be because this is somethin new.
-
Wait til the cd drops dogg ...LOL...or atleast until i cop DA
-
Documentary is definetly better.
Heres why:
Street single: Westside Story>> One Blood
First single: How We Do >>> Strip Club
Kanye West track: Dreams>> the new one
Hi Tek track: Runnin>> Ole English
Just Blaze track: Chuurch For Thugs >> Remedy
Drunk track: Start From Scratch>> Docs Advocate
The chick song: Special feat Nate>> Jamie Foxx song
Plus: No Timbo and Dre bangers
But you made this way to early becuase its fresh and all. Make this poll in a month or two.

i say docs advocate, more of an album feel to it, less fillers
-
my honest truth?
docs advocate. less filler tracks, more solid album ..

I feel the Doc better because of the banger. There's no beat on DA that stunned me and made me want to listen to it again and again.

Yeah we know that was coming LMAo be real detox the reason is Doc had 50 and Dre thats why you like it better .

Those are definitely some of the reasons I'd say The Doc is better.
As I said in other threads....there aren't any standout radio songs on DA that will be played and have the impact that "How We Do" and "Hate it or love it" had, and I'm not saying that because of 50's hooks. These were just perfect songs, period.
Most of us on Dubcc may prefer DA for one of the following reasons:
-It's fresh to our ears since we've heard The Doc 100,000 times
-It is a darker album that doesn't attempt to get radio play
-It sounds a lot more West Coast (major reason, seeing we are on WEST COAST Connection
-50 Cent and G-Unit aren't on here
-Snoop, Xzibit, DPG, Nate Dogg, Jelly Roll are on here
-It has strong West Coast influences that go beyond the lowrider and chucks references...such as using many NWA era elements like scratches on the hooks, drum beat switchups, the infamous "Compton" sample, the Funky Worm/Above the Law/Ghetto Bird synthesizer on California Vacation, Mac Minister, and the girl singin on the first track in a very DPG-esque fashion

DOCS AD
-
Yeah I agree with what RTistic said again. I think no matter what this album sounds like westcoast fans are gona say it is better than The Documentary because it is more of a westcoast album and there is no 50. However DA isnt even in the same league as Documentary IMO, no tracks on DA are even half as good as How We Do or Start From Scratch. This album is good but its not even a top album this year let alone a classic, way much to hype sorrounding this album.
-
The Devils Advocate is gonna be BANGIN! The Documentary was like 3/5.
-
Game sounds better on the new album. The production is better even without Dre. If Game didn't cry out to Dre on every track (the title track was pathetic) then it woulda been a contender for album of the year.

Yeah I think he's dickriding Dre a little too much, but I like the title track.

:grumpy: @ DA winning the poll.
This always happens on Dubcc.. new albums get ridiculously overrated the first couple of weeks.
Make the same poll in 2-3 months, and I'm 100% sure Documentary wins.

-
Documentry was wack..........4 dope songs........thats it....(Put you in the game, No more fun and games, We aint and Like father like son) the rest is average or wack....
DA, man this is banging from start to finish......Im pleased because the music IS as big as his mouth, which is all that I care about!
-
It hink documentary will stand the test of the time, just the whole cohesiveness of the first album. but drs advocate is an excellent effort, but comes in second.

why, because you think it's better?
it seems to bother you that people prefer it to "The Documentary"

The Doctors Advocate 8)...
-
Just bumped this, because of the current Game discussion. It appears that the forum actually liked DA over TD back in 2006. I agree with this. While The Documentary is one of the best hip-hop albums of all time if you ONLY look for beats, The Doctors Advocate was a much more whole album and infact one of my favourite hip-hop albums of all time. While Game was never the most lyrical of rappers, particularly on TDA and LAX, his voice and delivery is flawless. Couple that with immaculate beat selection and you end up with really strong albums. However, on The Documentary his delivery hadn't matured yet. Game sounds weaker on The Doc than on any of his subsequent albums.
Only track I ain't fuckin' with on DA is that "Wouldn't Get Far" joint. The rest is all dope.

crazy poll results
