Email the editors of Vibe Magazine about the Warren G getting a 1.5/5 rating situation...
www.vibe.com/new/magazine/mail-us.html
The comments they made were horrible, saying "Warren G is the Dr Kevorkian of G-Funk" and "G-Funk has been dead for a while"...Plus they personaly attacked the man saying "Warren G has no self confidence"...Please help Warren out and do this...Heres the letter I wrote:
I was just wondering which idiot gave Warren G's new album a 1.5/5? I swear, if I knew the homie I would slap him. Any Hip Hop Head would understand that the album deserves AT LEAST a 4/5. Did this guy even listen to the damn album? You guys don't know what you've done to the man Warren. He's put all his effort and heart into the music, and you guys repay him with a 1.5?! He has no self confidnce? He obviously does to name his album "The Return of The Regulators." That review you guys did could actually affect the poor guys record sales, because they read the review and think whatever the reviewer says goes, and that's not true. G-Funk has never been dead, it was always here, but obviously the reviewer never heard the latest sounds of Dr. Dre who created the G-Funk sound. How you gunna say Warren G killed GFunk? When I listen to this album it takes me back in the days, when Warren made those funky beats with The Twinz and The Dove Shack. I really think you guys should have a real Hip Hop Head review this album, and he'll tell you it's good. Peace Sccit AKA Now_I_Know.

heres what i wrote:I have one question for you, how does Warren G's new album get a 1.5/5 when this is easily a 5/5 album. Not only is that absurb but down right despicable. To say Warren G killed G-Funk this shows the little amount of knowledge the reviewer has. G-Funk is one if not tha most popular type of production in rap history, even Dr. Dre still uses it, listen to the songs he produced on the wash soundtrack (the wash an holla). This album review will turn off many potential buyers because of your reviewer closed minded ignorance. If anyone in rap deserves to have good album sales it is Warren. Did this guy even listen to the album, from his review it seems not. Why dont you get a real hip hop head to review this album, I hope every westcoast rap fan, hell i hope every true hip hop never buys another one of your magazines again, I know I wont.

and also post your letters here so we can all view them...

i wrote them and dissed the shit outta them, i hope they all read our mail

I don't understand how you all gave Warren G's album 1.5/5 thats ridiculous. Saying things like "G Funk is Dead" .... well if you wanna keep hearing the same re-hashed material over again then please don't try and review this album, but obviously you want to review this album... which I think is one of the most creative albums in some time... Warren came very correct on this album and you all make it seem like he should hide his head in sand... this song is straight fire, in fact I can listen to every track without skpping a track... I haven't been able to do that with many cd's.... You all keep it the way you want, but I don't think I'm the only one who would say this album is real heat and is definetly worth more... I say 4.5/5 and I can't do that to most albums and this one isn't like most albums, it's better than most.

Here's what I wrote
I just wanted to write your magazine to tell you how dissapointed I was when I read your recent review of Warren Gs new album The Return Of The Regulator. First, I've been a fan of Warren G since his first album came out and I own every one since and I have to say this one is the best since G Funk Era. It deserves a 4.5/5 at LEAST, in my opinion and many others it is deserving of 5. The person who reviewed this is obviuosly a moron and as far as I am concerned has ruined the credibilaty of your magazine. Your review listed numerous statements that are just plain stupid. Saying G-Funk has been dead for a while is one of them, G-Funk is NOT dead listen to Dr. Dre's recent productions and you will see while G-Funk is not is still alive and by how popular the song "The Wash" is you will see that G-Funk is still popular with the public. Another statement I believe was "Warren G is the Dr Kevorkian of G-Funk". What the hell kind of comment is that Warren G has perfected G-Funk sound and continues to make some of, if not, the best G-Funk ever. The last thing I'd like to bring up is when the reviewer stated that Warren G has no self confidence. After reading this comment my mind was blown. I can't believe your magazine would publish this bullshit. What does this comment have to do what so ever with the quality of the music on this CD(which I thought CD reviews are supposed to be about but I guess I'm wrong). Attacking an artist personally is extremely unproffesional and ignorant of the reviewer. How would you like it if someone was asking my opinion about your magazine and I said "I don't like it, the editor is fat and bald, and he stinks". Ridiculous comments like the above stated show how little credibilty the reviewer, and your magazine do have. You can be assured that after reading this article I will never purchase one of your magazines again and I will make damn sure that nobody else I know does, and I know many people that feel the same way I do.
Fuckin' Vibe can suck on Deeeeeeez Nuts

Message: I was extremely dissapointed with you review of Warren G's new album. But I can't say I was suprised. Your magazine is a pop magazine. It's materialistic, superficial, commercial garbage. In trying to please everyone, you please nobody. You understand very little about hip-hop culture. I have all the respect in the world for Quincy Jones, but your staff seems to be exploiting hip-hop, like you write about it to make money, but have no real love for the culture. Peace.

Dear editors of Vibe
Once in a while, something really stupid happens that has your head spinning. Giving one of the best albums of the year
a disgusting rating boggles the mind. 1.5? 1 point motherfucking 5? Did your reviewer even listen to the album, or did he give it the customary skim-thru-a couple of tracks.
Wait let me guess, he probably read the booklet, and was able to sense this album was weak. This album is unbelievable, and the rating that moron gave, as well as his ignorant personal comments is disgusting, unprofessional, it is an act of stupidity words cannot describe. Vibe should leave hip hop in peace, and stop trying to fuck with it. Go back to yor 60 page advertisements, N SYNC coverage, Britney pictorials and (cheap attempts to sell) nude Toni Braxton covers.
and this is mine
Congratulations, Vibe has managed to redefne the word playerhater. That word can also now describe ignorant corporate puppets who lost touch with hip hops reality years ago. That rating you people did for Warren G's album was despicable. "G funk is dead", by whose standards, the reviewer's? A guy who was probably one of those New York radio jockey or critic who did their best during the 90's to dismiss G funk and deny its innovative sound and influence?
Im assuming you would go by the public's standards, seeing as that Warren has ONLY sold damn near 10 million copies.
Seeing as that Warren still goes platinum with absolutely NO promo whatsoever, seeing as that he has given us real rap fans one classic all ready, and just served us the album of the year. If your moron of a reviewer WAS one of those East coast playahaters, he should have made those comments in private, not on a grand scale like this which can really damage an artists. "G funk is dead", thats great, I guess I'll turn on some of todays music, I cant wait to hear the new Ja Rule, how about Nelly? I will never buy your magazine again.
Disgusted hip hop fan
by the way yall, send email, send mail, send anthrax, (just playin) get the message across, this is the last time a west coast artist is gonna get shitted on....

Here's my small contribution:
WHAT IN THE GODDAMN HELL??? I ENTER MY FAVORITE FORUM AND PEEPS TELL ME THERE'S A BULLSHIT MAGAZINE THAT GAVE THE ALBUM OF THE YEAR 1.5???
WE'VE BEEN FEENIN FOR WARREN'S ANOTHER MASTERPIECE FOR 2 YEARS, AND OUR ALL-TIME WISH IS TO WATCH THIS BRILLIANT RAPPER GO MULTIPLATINUM AND KNOCK JARULE OFF THE CHARTS, AND SOME FROG DARES TO TELL US IT'S 1.5? WHERE YOU COME FROM, IGNORANT BASTARD? YEAH, I CAN CALL YOU ANYTHING NOW SINCE YOU CALL THE BEST MUSICIAN IN HIP HOP A SELF UNCONFIDENT PERSON.
ALL THAT VIBE CAN DO NOW IS TOTALLY APOLOGIZE TO WARREN PERSONALLY AND TO ALL HIP HOP FANS, AND GIVE WARREN THE ADDRESS OF THAT HOLLOW-HEADED BITCH, SO THAT WARREN COULD 'RATTA-TAT-TAT DIDDY-DUM-DITTY-DUM ON THAT AZZ!!!!!
I guess those messages will help people understand that that goddamn review dont mean shit, cuz I'd really love to see Warren G 5 times plat, he deserves that, peace.

I have been a reader of your magazine for a while but I recently I have questioned the quality of it, especially regarding your reviewer. I was shocked and dissapointed to read in your current issue that you have rated Warren G's new album and valued it with a mesely 1.5/5! I was dissapointed with the fact that your reviewer has obviously not given this LP a proper listen and is obvioulsy very closed minded towards the work of Warren. This album deserves atleast 4.5/5. Warren has clearly worked extremely hard on this release as far as I, and many other real hip-hop heads can see and it's pretty close to an amazing album. To state that G Funk is dead is dispicable considering real hip-hop heads know it is still very much alive and kicking what with new and very dope releases from such artists as Dre & Snoop (The Wash Soundtrack). Infact G funk is progressing and will continue to do so throughout time. I hope to god this poorly thought out review doesn't affect the potential sales of Warren's LP. I suggest you re-review this release and think about the value of your current reviewer before you lose many more respectable hip-hop heads. Your magazine should quit being so biased and realise that the westcoast still and will always produce quality and classic material wether you care to acknowledge it or not.
Well thats mine...
-
yo man i really was disappointed with your review of warren g's new upcoming album. i mean warren g is a heavy veteran in this game and he is a definite g-funk influential out in the west coast. i mean why???? why????? the album is imo 4/5 at least cuz it brings back that g-funk sound that everybody is always wanting to hear and most of the tracks are all on point and it's album has a meaning which focuses on the real "street" rather than bullshitting about how many girls they fucked or how much ice they have on their wrist that you see mostly in hip-hop today. yo for realz, whoever wrote this review must've been just working for the source review section or something cuz its pure bullshit, just like the jay-z blueprint getting 5 mics, this rating that you gave warren is BULLSHIT, 1.5???? come on now...even east coast dickriders wouldn't do no ignorant shit like that, well anyways, i had "very little" respect to vibe before this and now you get no respect from this worldwide hip-hop head
-
First of all, big ups to all you guys for writing some great letters, the support ya'll are showing Warren G is great....I hope recognizes and at least prints on of our letters. Peace ya'll.........(i haven't wrote yet but i am gonna right away).
-
Here is my threat:
What's up with your 1/5 rating towards Warren G's "The Return Of The Regulator" album!!!! I laughed when y'all did that cause I bet whover reviewed that album listened to the first few songs and then gave it a poor evaluation. The abum is dope..period. A lot of people I know disagree with you mag, and we think it does anything BUT reflect the hip-hop culture. Show some love man, PEACE.
-
i wrote last night, dont remember what i said tho....

Fuckin' Vibe can suck on Deeeeeeez Nuts

great way to end your peice homie....i agree!!
-
I never heard Warren G's new album yet (yo doesn't that album come out next week), so I can't really say anything but he's what I feel about the situation.
I feel as though vibe is entitled to their own opinion however by giving an album a 1.5 it's really not a review, it's more so putting down an artist.............Why even put a review in the magazine if you are gonna give it a 1.5.
I don't know about everyone else but I don't read Vibe magazine. So it really doesn't matter to me what vibe magazine gives an album. They don't have the credibility in my opinion rate a hip hop album, nor does the source
-
Top Dogg...
Without hearing the album...Just listen to the comments and personal attacks the reviewer made. That alone can give you a reason to write a letter...So what if you dont read Vibe? None of us do, but that doesnt mean millions of idiots dont buy it and belive what they read...This can basically end Warrens rapping career yall!
-
This can basically end Warrens rapping career yall!
If Warren fuckin sees this he'll cry, and that review will prolly be brought up to his attention. Then he'll just get his sawed-off and shoot whoever wrote that review. I mean, this could actually put Warren over the edge and make him retire. We don't want that!
-
no offense, but it's only ONE FUCKIN REVIEW! it's not like The Source or XXL is trashing the album. I don't think one magazine's review will stop someone from rapping or making music. I saw the commercial for this album a couple of hours ago, and it included a good comment from XXL, so Warren can look elsewhere for praise besides these Pop-Hop magazines.
-
Yea, but you dont know how close Warren is from retiring...He'll probably never produce again when he reads what this idiot said about him...He might really take the review to the heart...
-
Here's what I wrote:
Warren G "Return Of The Regulator".........1.5/5...........Are you kidding me?!?! Damn, y'all over there at Vibe owe Warren a huge apology. Not only for the shitty rating, but also for attacking him personally. Saying he has no confidence. The review was meant for the album, not the person. This was a very unproffesional thing to do. I know now that I or anyone I know will NEVER buy another VIBE magazine. The reviewer obviously didn't give the album a full listen. I think by hearing just the first single, the album deserves more than a 1.5. I think it is very neccesary to re-review this album. Because the review that was given was straight GARBAGE.
-

yeah even 1 review right now can make warren give it up, hes so sensitive
-
didnt warren say this will be his last album anyway, so even if it did push him over the edge, he is retiring anyways, but say this is his last album, instead of goin out wit a bang, warren can be fucked over sales wise b/c of these cocksuckin muthafuckas

Message: I'm writing in regards to your recent review of Warren G - "Return Of The Regulator". It's definitely one of the worst reviews I've ever seen outside of The Source. Did the reviewer even bother to listen to the album? I myself generally prefer more of a basic hip-hop sound, but Warren brings the G-Funk and he brings it well. G-funk was never dead, any writer with a clue about west coast hip-hop would know this. But then what would I expect of a magazine that names Ja Rule as artist of the year. Ja Rule's best track isn't in the same sphere as Warren's worst. I've bought vibe a couple of times in the past, but any faith I had left in your magazine as a source of music knowledge has been lost. So thank you Vibe, for perpetuating the decay of mainstream hip-hop away from soulful, fresh sounds like the new Warren G and towards the sounds of Ja Rule and others of his ilk. Anyways, myself and my friends are boycotting your magazine, and I'll be telling anyone I know to do the same. Grow a new set of ears and listen to that album again.
-
OH GOD, LOL @ ALL OF THIS!
Shit, once the peeps over at Vibe see all of these letters, the person who wrote this review is gonna get a beat down. Daaaaaaaaaaam!
-
what source is the article in?........you know whats kind of funny is that warrens album hasn't even came out and we are blastin at the source writing letters and shit, we some bootleggin muthafuckas!
-
Its in the latest Vibe.. Not in the Source...
-
Suga Foot and Cliche, your letters are the best cuz they sound professional and articulate; i wouldn't be surprised to see one of them in the next Vibe!

Thanks Dogg
