Well, Jay has proved he can't drop two straight dope albums.............you can really tell this shit was rushed, and that not alot of effort went into this. TBA was so dope cuz he had something to prove after the horrible Blueprint 2. Man, i am REALLY disappointed with this album; if you woulda told me 1 year ago that Jay had 5 Dre beats i would guarantee he had a classic, but these are average Dre beats and its obvious Dre wasn't in the studio with Jay........................I hate Jay's whisper type flow on m,ost of the songs. Too bad, Jay's comeback was supposed to be the shit, not shit. Well, this ain't shit, its just average, not as good as Game or Snoop.
Still, some dope songs, just nothing mindblowing, like Encore, 99 Problems, PSA, Dec 4th, etc.........
Favourite songs: Minority Report, Beach Chair........by Far the best two tracks
-
Wow... that's the 1st time, a Jay album got so weak production, Jay always had a nice hear for the beats but not this time at all... Just Blaze should do the whole album.. these "emailed" Dre beats are straight wack, same for Kanye , dude should work instead of bitchin for not winnin a award ::).. Jay flow is :-X too.. weakest effort by Jay at 1st listen... coming from someone who likes Jay music
-
Damn, I dont like the replys. Gonna check it out in any minute
-
This is straight crack. Jay's flow is impeccable.

Dunno why people are complaing, all this is great to me. Some nice topics and Jays flow is still great.
I even like that Usher track. That has a mega hit written all over it.
-
i've listened to a couple tracks... so far so good 8) give me a week.
-
dres production on lost ones and 30 something are good 2 me ..along with dre's imagine joint ..its obvious dre has a new sound which incorporates those piano lessons hes been taking ..overrall this is def a step back from the album ...with this releases he realli proves he is the mj of the rap game .. he should have stayed retired

it seems to be popular to hate on jay at the moment.
-
just listened to the album and I'm totally dissapointed that Jay would rush his album out like this without taking his time to master it right...

not this time apparently

Indeed. Thos Just bLaze joitns sound awful in high volume. The Dre ones, Kanyes, Pharrells and Swizzys are the ones that are mixed properly.
Anyways jsut bumped the album for 2 hours. Its a great album no doubt. Only 2 tracks I skipped that Beyonce one and that Dj Khalil one.
That Usher track is catchy as fuck, Swizzy came up with a monster beat and that Kanye, John Legend joint is pefect. Dre tracks: Lost Ones, Minority Report and Beach Chair are great. 30 Something is average and that wannabe Timbo joint is a banger but Tim would've flipped it better lol.

Well, as the population of Dipset Groupies rises on DubCC, so does anti-Hovism.
Anyway, I'm dling Snoop's album first, but this one comes next.
-
After one listen I don't know what to think of this album. I'mma give it a couple more spins and then evauleate it. I was really lookin' foward to hearin' this cus I really liked "The Black Album"
-
Wud luv 2 hear this! PM wud b much appreciated!

you talkin about imagine that was supposed to be on the big bang? has that leaked?
-
after the 2 listens The Blueprint>The Black Album>Kingdom Come>Reasonable Doubt>Vol.3>Vol.1>Blueprint 2>Vol.2>The Dynasty
the Dre beats are just amazing along with all the Just Blaze tracks
"Do U Wanna Ride" is on some classic shit and i don't even like Kanye that much
was hoping Nas would be on this album though
"I Made It" dissapointed me though... not the usual DJ Khalil sound
-
i remember him saying that hip hop needs big albums but, in my opinion this IS NOT a big album. im sure it will sell because his name sells.
-
link me please.
-
fuggedaboudit. already gots its.
-
someone hook me up.
-
its a good album but jay doesnt sound hungry. understandable, but why keep rapping if you sound like u struggle to finish every word?
-
I own all of JayZ's albums and Im kinda dissapointed so far after one listen...The beats sound boring to me, and Jay doesnt sound THAT good like he did on his previous albums....I duno, Ill give it another listen for sure.
-
dre didn't really hook him up. some ok beats but just basic loops and that's that.
-
Just getting 2 1st listen, soundin good so far, need 2 listen 2 it properly tho 2 giv full verdict!
-
on second thoughts i forgot about that 30 something track. that was on some funky stuff, liked that a lot 8)
-
Man, FUCK any haters, and fuck that cat from Yahoo or whatever who didn't like this album that much at the listening party. This album is the real PIFF right here. It's a bit more pop-oriented than "The Black Album", but how can you care when Hov's rhymes are still good as ever and pretty much EVERY beat is quality? And like I expected, "Show Me What You Got" ain't even the best track on there, far from it. Frankly, I'm really digging "Do U Wanna Ride?"...it's one of the better Kanye beats I heard recently. "Minority Report" is also really well-told, and Dre's track (even if it sounds a little like "When It Rains, It Pours") works perfectly for the subject matter. Oh, yeah, and even Swizzy finally delivered another dope beat with "Dig A Hole".
One of the better albums I've heard this year, by far. Give it up to Hov for bringing that fiyah.
-
:o only one that praised "Trouble"!!?? :o Seriosouly, crank up the volume and blow your speakers! Then u will hear the greatness of this track.
If "in da club" fucked the charts up, then this one will blow a fucking hole str8 through the motherfucker!!
If Jay wants people to accept AND respect his comeback: MAKE A FUKKIN VIDEO 2 THIS MUTHA!!??
Imagine niggas bouncin their asses of to this one.. damn, crazy...
Ahh, fuck it, all of yall will call the song a classic in a month anyway..
Peace

Noone will ever call this cd classic man, not even Jay's biggest fans (I consider myself a HUGE fan, especially after TBA). THis album is inconsistent, shows an obvious lack of effort, and Jay is practically whispering on half the tracks. And Trouble is TIGHT man, but wouldn't even dent the charts
Yo Beatz, i love that Kanye track too man, its different for him and i think its the best overall song on the whole album, but to say this album is better than REasonable DOubt is fucking crazy man. I am not one who thinks RD is classic but come on, it shits on this, which is possibly Jay's most lacklustre effort. Still a decent album ,but just not that great, especially for a comeback album.
-
i'm diggin this album, atleast he's keepin it real, not rappin about bein a drug dealer or anything
-

True, although he DOES say he is"just a hustla who happens to rap".............for like the millionth time. Still, as i get older its nice to have a couple grown man topic songs..................the album is slowly growing on me, the problem is its just plain, he doesn't take any chances like with Problems, and there is no real standout song.
-
yeah, even rappers grow up though. the album is dope, some grown man topics for once
-
Yep, like I said the album is a grower. All dope tracks except for that Beyonce crap.
And subject matter is completley different. I love this album
-
:o :o that track with chris martin is fucking bananas!!!!
-
I gotta stop coming to conclusions after the first listen ;D...
I'm starting to really feel this album 8)
-

exactly, thats what i have been saying to people. You cant judge how good an album is on 1 or 2 listens. Music will grow on you, people dont seem to give an album that chance now a days. Its almost like they give 1 listen and decide if they like it or not.
-
The albums cool wid some sick tracks most noticably 'BEACH CHAIR' that track is straight fire! Im not really a fan of jay but the album is a grower and has a nice different feel about it compared to todays other music...dre dissapointed me tho'
-
:o :o that track with chris martin is fucking bananas!!!!
Yeah its crazy, the atmosphere is really huge.
Minortiy Report is great stuff too. Props to Ne-Yo for a dope hook 8)

I was talking about the song, not the entire album... I mean if he wants it to sell then he need a banger like this out on MTV, cuz that beat is like a hugh and heavy fukkin machine... Its music to start a riot to goddammit!!
-
Easily his worst solo-album. That coming from someone who didn't get the hype about Jay's better albums, this album is painful to listen to. What a waste of good beats. A decade in the game and he can't rap on-beat consistantly. Crazy. Somebody tell dude he shouldn't do hooks by himself, he sucks at it. Dude should have retired for real when it comes to bringing out albums. He should feature rappers like Nas and Kanye from time to time, and take his time with the verses.
Seriously guys, aside of the partially good beats and lyrics (literally lyrics, not raps), how can you call this a decent album? His verses are awful. Any established rapper would have made a better album with those beats and Jay-Z as the ghostwriter. Anyone. Take that to the bank son.
-
Based on the replies it seems to be the wisest move to get Game's new shit and Snoop's new shit, bump those for a while and get this sometime when I got some extra money and I bump into it.
Don't really care though. Jay's cool to me, but it ain't like I'm always looking out for some new Jigga.
-
What you have to give Jay-Z props for is that he sounds different every time. All of the subject matter was different and that helped. The production was pretty solid. A few tracks I wasn't really feeling. However, Minority Report is probably the best track on the album. Dre lays a monster for that one. Just Blaze came with heat. The only bad thing I can say is that lyrically, Jay-Z didn't come that strong. I was expecting a better album however it is solid. It doesn't make my top 5 of the year but it is still worth the pick up.
