There are 2 versions to how this beef started:

1.Right I read somewhere that this beef started becos Tha Dogg Pound released a song called "New York New York" and so Mobb Deep replied with the song "LA LA" ft. Noreaga, Capone and Tragedy becos they thought Tha Dogg Pound song was a diss to the east coast. Tupac took offence to this song and so dissed Mobb Deep

or

2. Before Tupac went to jail he did an article in Vibe about giving up Thug Life. When Pac was in jail he was listening to the radio and heard a song by Mobb Deep which said "Thug Life, we still livin' it". So he had a bunch of his homies go to the Mobb Deep concert screaming Thug Life, trying to start sh*t, but Mobb Deep wouldn't even acknowledge them. Mobb Deep likes to talk a lot of sh*t in songs, but never backs them up. Which is why Tupac says "Next time grown folks talking ni**az close your mouth." Tupac considered himself on an entirely higher level than Mobb Deep and talked down to them like kids. Tupac smashed on them in the song Hit Em Up, even dissing the fact that one of them has sickle cell. Mobb Deep retaliated with "Drop a Gem on em". (taken from www.truthugs.com

I though Pac dissed her becos she was on a song where they were dissin Tupac but I'm sure these voids will be fulled in by the other WCC members!!!!!

Yeah you right on this beef. Cos Jay Z was friends with Biggie he appeared on the song "Brooklyn's Finest" which of course was a diss to Jay Z and that was wot led to Tupac dissin Jay Z on the song "Bomb First" (which I think was Pac's first response to the Jay Z diss also dissin Mobb Deep & Bad Boy on the track, I think?)

I thought he dissed Mobb Deep cuz of the LA,LA thang, & I heard cuz they say sum'thin like "Thug Life, We Still Livin' It" at the end of Survival Of The Fittest...

ok thanks for yo info anyways, i want to confirm some more beefs with pac

nas vs pac= did this start because pam claimed that nas bit his "thug life" style and even stole his beats and made it his first 2 singles?(if i ruled the world=friends, street dreams=all eyez on me)

ll cool j vs pac= i heard that when LL was falling off, he tryed to get noticed by dissing pac on a unrelease b-side track with biggie called "who shot ya?" is this true????

chino XL vs pac= i heard that he said pac was raped in jail

junior m.a.f.i.a.=???????? was it cuz they were part of biggie????

pac vs puffy= puffy publicly dissed pac by telling vibe that you can't  claim "thug life" whenever you like to and all of a sudden not claim it,

pac vs biggie= pac basically accused him of setting him up for the 94 shooting, which me personally, this is a dumb ass beef cuz you don't have 100% proof that biggie set him up for it ya know what i mean? i mean even there is a lot of evidence that pac think he might've but still........

I dunno if it's true but i thought the only reason 'Pac dissed Nas was cuz he worked wit' Dre...but i could be wrong...he never really had much reason to diss any of 'em...

LL took offence to the line in Old School most people claimed gave him props-"LL raising hell, but, that didn't last...", and then going on to say Rakim and Eric B were better. "Eric B and Rakim was, the shit to me...", etc.

I would like to give Mobb Deep mad props for being the only people to publicly stand up to 'Pac with a released song. ALL of 'em recorded diss songs, Biggie, Jay-Z, all of them...But only Mobb Deep had the heart and conviction to release theirs. 'Pac sent brawny idiots to disturb a concert....And "Drop A Gem On 'Em" beats his disses to Prodigy in "Hit 'Em Up", IMO.

The beefs were all pretty pointless, the only one who actually dissed 'Pac first, and in public, was Puffy. This gave 'Pac the opportunity to diss Caese', Kim, and Biggie, like he'd always wanted to, since '94.

Jay was just unlucky.

Nas is the most pointless, perhaps, because it makes so little sense, even if it's all true...

Man pac just used all these excuses...........IMO he dissed all them mofos 2 make money...........I mean how could one person have so much hate inside 2 tha people dat really aint done nuttin extreme 2 him?...........So IMO tha main reason he started dissin waz 2 sell records and be known as tha hardest muthafucka in tha industry so he could be rich and have people admire him, It waz a classic "American Dream"..........But as we all know his plans didn't really go too well and everything waz fallin apart, and then BOOM he dies and leaves this big legacy he waz building behind..........It's a real tragic story 4 real...........It's like a fairytale..........

"Now when I came out I told you it was just about Biggie
Then everybody had to open they mouth with a motherfuckin opinion"   - 2Pac on -Hit Em Up-

I think that's the main reason for Tupac dissin' all those Easts Coast Cats!

Info I've gathered:

Drop A Gem was out on 12" before his death, and the album had been printed before his death. The record label refused to withdraw them, apparently.

But anyways.
