Imagine has better lyrics, Round Here has that sick beat I can't get that shit out of my head. Dre & Snoop just make a dope team. Boss Life is nice too.
-
Imagine is the song of the year, bottom line

Round Here is the best outta the 3 Dre tracks, if you ask me. Imagine is aight, maybe the beat's too mellow for me. Boss' Life has a crazy beat.
-
Imagine is the best track on the album without a doubt.

Yeah....well shit, I might like Boss Life better because of the vibe, even though I'd say Imagine is a better song.

i was supreemly let down by imagine. it sucks
-
Boss life is hard too bad it aint longer, but yeah I like Imagine, but there's sumthin missing, llike no adlibs, no intro...maybe its just me

"Round Here" and "Think About It" > "Imagine".
Good to see Snoop & Dre together again though.

my fav r
10 lil crips
round here
a bitch i knew
-
Imagine is the song of the year, bottom line
the only reason people are saying that is because snoop and dre are on the same track... the tracks dope, but over rated to the EXTREME.

"Round Here" and "Think About It" > "Imagine".

I gotta be real with you. You know I'm a huge Dr. Dre fan, and a huge Snoop Dogg fan.
Imagine ain't very good. I understand maybe it seems deep to some people, and I can applaud Dre and Snoop for their ambition... but to me the beat just isn't what I expect from a Dre beat... like never before you can seperately hear what he threw together and it just doesn't mesh much. Listen to just the drums.... you can do that because they're mixed way away from the rest of the song so you can hear them almost as a seperate, really simple sounding drum pattern. Over that he's got a little piano riff, but it's put somewhere else too so it almost sounds like a second pattern playing at the same time... It gets a little better when he adds the strings on it, and I realize every song is recorded in small patterns, but everything just seems to simple and isolated. The lyrics to me are decent but Dre sounds tired and sad. Not good for this song, in my opinion.
Round Here is a great song, but to me the beat is a letdown, AGAIN. I can't believe I'm saying this about Dre. that dido song is tired, and he just lifted the best loop from it, which had already been halfway lifted for "Stan". It's almost like Dre's copying somebody, which is just wild. Snoop though, just kills this. Dre's beat *IS* good, it's just not the wicked Dre style we've come to expect. After Snoop starts his deal, the song really comes together well but before that it's just like listening to "Thank You" which I'm a little burnt out on. Snoop just destroys this, anybody who thinks the Dogfather is dead is out of their fucking mind. This is some of the best shit available right now, and stands up their with his best stuff lyrically and especially flow wise, the flow has returned and I've told people for years it never died.
"Boss's Life" again the beat is nothing crazy to me. It's good. Not the best on the album. I wish Dre would have gave Snoop some better stuff, but it's still quality. I could never even conceive this beat, Dre's making it in a studio full of dope musicians, so I have to excuse myself because of that.... I need to listen to this song more but at first few listens it isn't really slaying me.
"I wanna Fuck You" is actually pretty good... but of course it's useless because I don't date women that I could play a song called "I wanna fuck you" around without getting slapped. On the flip side, I'm also not in love with strippers, so the song is useless to me. The beat is good, and Akon just kills it. His voice is good, damn good. It's really got that club vibe like club songs get accused of having but don't really have... his voice reverbs over the beat and would fill an entire club up but still let you talk. Melodically it's probably the best song on the album. Everybody always ducks it but imagine Akon's voice as a trumpet, and you've got a smooth jazz song anybody alive would respect. The melody's killer.
The game song is just horrible. I cannot see how anybody would enjoy anything about the song, just a shit, shit song on Snoop and the Game's part.
"Vato" is good because Snoop's voice is so wicked. B-real doubled by Pharell probably would have sounded better because part of the attraction of Pharell's version of the hook was that it sounded more like a mexican than B-real does! I love B-real, but his voice is not the typical mexican stereotype, he's been shot and his voice has a distinct sound to it. It ends up sounding like B-real telling the story and he wouldn't talk like that. I hope you get what I'm saying.
"10 lil crips" is pretty good. I've only listend a few times but remember Snoop's flow was vicious on it.
"Think about it" is a clinic. Others could write better lyrics probably but nobody has a flow like that. Crooked I couldn't even stand to that, Snoop Dogg is the shit, on songs like this he's untouchable. Technically others are better but the whole package of making a track Snoop is unfuckwitable.
The Cube song I cannot listen to. The beat just kills me, I cannot for the life of me get into that off beat slouch shit, where they roll the drums in or whatever the fuck they do. I just can't get with the beat, so a dream combo ruined for me.
There's 2 or 3 others on the album that have the same problem. I can follow any beat but I never understood why these kids would program their drum machines on the half note and shit, drums should be straight up and down, there's a million ways to do it without resorting to off-beat syncopation. Once you've dropped the groove like that song does, its' impossible to make the song anything more than a novelty.
"That's That Shit" is a great song. Like the dubcnn interview, Snoop is the king of this kind of a track, he waters himself down a little bit and makes a song specifically for the women with R. Kelly and nobody really does it better. R. Kelly, Timberlake, Snoop, etc. all that shit works in this little genre they've got going here. R. Kelly sounds as good as ever. The beat is masterful.
The song about all the women Snoop's flow is nice again on that one too.
The Stevie Wonder song is some other level shit. Top of the line, right there.... the best part is how Snoop's just KILLING the flow, I mean destroying shit and he says something like "Thank you uncle Stevie" then Stevie Wonder says "Thank you Maine" and Snoop says Naw, thank you, and they're real nice, the beat's still going, Stevie Finally leaves, and then Snoop just goes back into that crazy ass flow without him! That's some real shit right there.
Nice album with some great parts. Really fits the times too, Snoop isn't trying to stick in 1993.
-
i can't comment that long, I may not come with the same good arguments, but Imagine is on top !
-
It's almost like Dre's copying somebody, which is just wild.
Funny thing is Dre actually interpolated a Nottz beat for Boss' Life, I think it's about time he called it a day because if his beats stay as they are Detox is going to be horrible.
-
D'Angelo just makes "Imagine" SICK imo. So thats what I voted. Dre + Snoop = 8)
-
Is it only me who can hear that the "Round here" beat and chorus was custommade for 50cent?
Imagine 50 on the chorus then you will see what i mean... Maybe it was supposed to appear on the new 50 album (street disc of course)
And yeah, "Round here" is the better one, "Boss Life" is just boring..
-
Voted: Round Here, some of the hardest shit Snoop's dropped for a long time.

yeah as soon as I heard the chorus I thought about 50. snoop probably just wrote it in his sing-song style.
-
Imagine grew on me. I'm not just saying that because I wanna force myself into liking it because Dre is on it. I like the mellow vibe it's got. You can't even really compare it to Round Here because that track is much darker.
I'm feelin' them both though.
-
"Round Here" is cool but when he does the parts like 50 Cent I can't help but think the song is a joke, good beat tho
"Imagine" beat is better than "Round Here" and I guess just a better overall song
-
The chours from Round Here sounds like G'd Up from GUnit.
For me:
Imagine>> Round Here= Boss Life
Snoop killed all 3 tracks.
-
imagine dre and snoop not delivering a classic joint............
thats my opinion of this joint......4/5, its dope, and its actually grew on me, hella overrated, buts that kool........ppl excited to see dre and snoop back together, nice to dre spittin again, but i mean you dont make a comeback together on some mellowshit, its should have been a g'd up joint.....imo
anyways again i cant beleive whats cracking with dre right now, imagine beat is boring, kinda dissapointing imo, round here imo is the best of the three.....or on a par with imagine, but again, the beat reminds me of g'd up, just a wacker version of the beat......
dre dissapoints on all three beats, dre on some weak tip right now, imma HUGE dre fan but i can recognise when a homie aint on top of his game right now, and dre def aint on top of his beat game....in respect to the cats he produce for, they be killin his tracks though......snoop kills these joints.....but dre dissapoints,
peace
-
overall i prefer Round Here, my favorite beat on the album 8)
-
Not only is Imagine the best song on the album, it's the song of the year. If you got soul, you can really feel it. When D Angelo breaks it down on the break, that's straight P Funk. C'mon man? Round Here doesn't compare to this song. Another 'Little Ghetto Boy.'

Imagine's simplicity is the beauty of it. You can't critique a track based off it's complexity. Gang Starr's 'Mass Appeal' is a classic but really simple track. This is a dramatic track and I think they captured a certain mood to perfection. One.

we only talking bout the album? round here is def. better.

There are plenty of classic but simple tracks. This is not one of them. This is just a simple track with false depth. Here, I'll write part 2.
"Imagine black and white could play together.
Imagine we in church and we all sway together.
Imagine A world with no Hitlers and Osamas
Imagine a world with no wars and my name was never Trauma"
I mean come on man. They ain't saying shit, it's pretentious.
-
i like boss life the best.
-
I don't care wether mr. Trauma calls it deep, shallow, pretentious, overrated or otherwise, to me 'Imagine' is the best one. 'Round here' is a close second and 'Boss' life'....well, it doesn't do too much for me. Might be because of Akon, oh boy, do I dislike him!
-
I'm not trying to insinuate you can't have your opinion. I like tons of music you would hate, so that's alright.
Anyways, why do yall hate Akon so much? Just his style or something he's done/said? I must have missed something... I think he sounds great and fuck it he's new, I'll give him a shot.
-

yeap
-
Akon and Snoop sound great together....Dope duo IMO
-
I gotta be honest and say Round Here
-
I can't stand Akons voice and that's why I don't like him. I saw people on WCC describing his sound as 'a bitch getting raped' and while it wouldn't be my way of wording it, the guy does sound like he needs to be put out of his misery.
