Title: News on Snoop's New Album From MTV.com!!!!!!
Post by: CWalker187 on November 16, 2001, 05:33:05 PM
Earlier this week, Snoop Dogg said that his next album will be called Big Snoop Dogg: Paid the Cost to Be the Boss. He may not be the boss of the box office come Monday.

The comedy "The Wash," which opened on Wednesday, pits Snoop and co-star Dr. Dre against the imposing "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," which opens Friday (November 16). Snoop isn't stressing the stiff competition.

"I keep hearing about mutha----ing Harry Potter," Snoop said. "I'm like, 'Who is this mutha----er I keep hearing about?' I don't know him, but I do know this. Dre and Snoop, we've got a following that's definitely dedicated and devoted, and that's all that matters.

"We're gonna crack a new audience, because I've been doing a lot of acting lately, and I've been gaining a new surplus of fans in the movie world," he added. "I think they'll see 'Harry Potter' and 'The Wash.' You never know."

Snoop won't be one of those people, however. "I'm not spending a dime on 'Harry Potter,' " he said. "I'll take [my kids] to go see 'The Wash,' and that's just how it is. They might have to wait to get ['Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone'] on DVD."

Fans won't have to wait as long for more information on Big Snoop Dogg: Paid the Cost to Be the Boss. The Doggfather has been tightlipped about the record, only divulging that Kid Rock guests on one track (see "Kid Rock Is Cocky, Calls Out 'Your Mama' With Snoop").

However, producer Michael Angelo Saulsberry let one of the Dogg's cats out the bag and said that Snoop has a track called "Whatever" that will be hitting clubs soon.

"It [has] a real interesting hook," said Saulsberry, who also produced two tracks on Faith Evans' Faithfully, including "You Gets No Love." "Homie is talking about people talking about him on the street. So in the hook, he's just being sarcastic. He goes, 'Whatever, whatever,' but he's talking [really properly].

"The beat ... it's got a little Parliament, but it's really beat and bass. It's mid[tempo] to fast. It's for the clubs. Everybody's been saying he's really back on this one."

MCA, which is distributing Snoop's album, said the LP does not have a release date yet.

I cant believe I missed this topic--Oh well..Nobodys perfect..though Im pretty damned close.  Regardless, Im tired of people saying "he's really back"--Snoop never left and has been bringing heat for about a decade.  Sure he stumbled a bit with one album, but he has released 2 tight solo albums and 2 great eastsidaz albums since-so for Saulsberry to sayin hes "really back" is unfair.

I hear what you're saying and I feel the same way.... however his music isn't as powerfull as it used to be... I think there is a difference there.... when Doggystyle came out, it was an album that shifted a lot.... not politically... it was not a political album, but when Snoop rapped... everyone listened... now it seems like when Snoop raps... only a select few listen... what Saulsberry said really excites me... I don't wanna hype myself up too much because I have done that before.... but... hopefully he means... Snoop has our attention again....  hopefully.... once again I'm excited for this... and about Kid Rock... is it me... or did I read somewhere that Kid Rock wrote and produced the song on the album and is not actually rapping on it...

I don't give a fuck what anyone says... This is REAL BAD NEWS to me... The title of the album (if it stays Big Snoop Dogg yadi yadi yadi) is DUMB AS FUCK and the new joint, if it ain't DRE-produced, WILL be another disappointment. Shit, of course I cannot be sure, but when I hear Snoop and "party joint", I get scared... The last real party starter Snoop had (that was actually dope) was "What's My Name" (part ONE, pleeeeeaaaaaase). All subsequent Snoop classics weren't really "party records" in my opinion... So, yeah, those news ain't re-assuring at all to me... "Whatever"??? I don't know... Someone need to lock Snoop with Dre (and ONLY Dre) inside Can Am or Record One studios for 5/6 months so we can get the REAL shit we wanna hear. Fuck all that other lil fuckin' around with 500,000 producers. We want DR.DRE... Period... We been waitin for 4 long ass albums...

You know Dre is gonna do at least 2 or 3 trax on the Cd anyway...I think Snoop is just gonna put this song out to the clubs and then probably drop another joint(maybe Dre produced)before his album hits the streets...

He always does songs about himself ... he should try something new .. that whatever song is meant to be about himself ... and well hes really not that interesting lol ....

He should try what eminem and tupac do ... make up storys that may apply to himself in a way but not actually be about himself ..

for exsample "stan" by eminem or "breada baby" from 2pac ..

like he should try and realise a really good rap song ... one with like a story that he tells though the rap ....

well ,,,, i gotta say that a track about killing people really dont shows eminems way of living... i would be surprised if he even would hurt a mouse...

if you want snoop to write about what he does, it's about pimpin and smokin' ...and thats what whe writes about...

As for the Big Snoop Dogg thang,it doesnt bother me at all.Think about it,he has grown from a youngsta to a man....
From Doggy Dogg to Big Snoop Dogg.

And why would it be a disapoinment to see the first single not being produced by Dre?
As long as its banginn, then I personaly dont give a SHIT who, what, when produced it.
I dont know what the track will sound like, therefore I aint hyped, disapointed or mad...
I suggest some of you do the same, couse yall aint heard shit from Snoops new album, neither have I.
