This whole project is fucking up, and I think the reason is it seems all too carefully planned out, it just seems like a way for a lot of people to make money.... I mean, Dre usually comes out with something fresh and different that we've never seen before..... yo, but I still liked the album and movie, and I want to see it sell better than it is currently... this isn't good news peace.
-
Fuck???????
-Big BpG
-
damn thats fucked up... i really liked the soundtrack it should sell waay better!
-
Soundtracks don't sell nowadays like they used to...I think it sold better than Bones soundtrack which came in like # 30...
-
yeah , it's pretty good fo a soundtrack considering the shit happenning everywhere on the world too..plus it sells more than bones
-
this week BONES OST is off the 100 position on the billboard's chart.
fuck
-
so, i still bump n luv it ;D
-
Sales will def. pick up after more people hear the wash (the song)
-
The album sold approximately what Bones sold in its first week. People-Hip Hop soundtracks arent big sellers anymore. Maybe it has something to do with people just getting the MP3s from the artists they like, i dunno. But please--Quit acting surprised everytime a soundtrack doesnt push HUGE units.
-
soundtracks don't sell anymore because they suck....(except very few of them) These days soundtracks have been a way to make money and push out new artist. There is usually a few good song to get you to buy it then most of the other tracks are garbage.
-
Dang..That sucks..The Wash Should be selling WAY WAY WAY more ..
-
This is why I think it has sold poorly so far.
1. The First Single - All West Coast fans think it's tight, but Dre's not just aiming for us to buy this album. "Bad Intentions" didn't hit big with everyone like "Still D-R-E" for example. I think if Dre started shit off with, "The Wash," we would see better sales. "Bad Intentions" doesn't have that single quality in my opinion.
2. Dre Never Had Enough Time - The release date got pushed up. I NEVER WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THIS ALBUM WOULD DROP IN 2001. We were all aiming for 2002, if that. Dre cannot be rushed.

I think Bad Intentions is doper than "The Wash", but I guess maybe if they were obsessed with sales they shoulve gone with the "Wash". But maybe Dre wanted Knocturnal on the lead single to give him exposure.

But maybe Dre wanted Knocturnal on the lead single to give him exposure.
TRUE. Dre showed us again he wasn't selfish, and that he wanted to expose Knoc before his album drops. Even if the song wasn't appealing to the mass, he wanted Knoc to get some light.
-
excuses excuses had it been a death row album that flopped you would be all over it saying how much it sucked ::) but since it's dre/snoop it's all type of excuses.
-
This Should Just Be A Lesson That Quality Don't Always Sell... Name Recognition Don't Always Sell... Guys, Loyal Fans Don't REally Exist... I'm Believeing More And More That Music Doing Well Is A Fad, It Really Is. If An Album Does Well, That's Because It Just Got Caught Up As A Fad, Or Something. Look At This Album, Sold About 90 Thousand Copies First Week. Deathrow's Last Album Did Better Than That. Right Now, Britney Spears Is Selling Better First Week Than Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney, And Michael Jackson. It's All Kiddie Pop Now That Sells, That's Just How It Is, People Don't Care About Quality Anymore.

LOL-Wash sold about 100,000 in a week. You can add up all of Death Rows non pac/dpg albums in the past 4 years and you STILL wont reach that number. How can your dumb ass compare the 2?
-

fuck >>
You cant expect a halloween season album to still be sellin huge units in mid november.
-
Nah, That Is True, I Think. Too Gangsta Wasn't Too Bad, At All, A Halfway Decent Album, And People Bashed It Hard, Just Because It Was Deathrow. Besides That, There Hasn't Really Been Anything Else, LOL That Wasn't DPG Or Tupac, Though.
-
I think the song "Bad Intentions" sorta caught on with the mainstream, but not enough to sell. I mean Knocs voice alone is catchy...
-
Soundtracks never sell that well, thats common knowledge. HELL, the only soundtracks I ever bought were Above the Rim and Next Friday. I'm not into soundtracks, I don't see them as worth my hard earned money and alot of other peeps feel the same.
-
I kno soundtracks dont sell very well but IMO this deserves to be higher in tha charts.. and yeah he shold release "the wash".. that'll be dope 4 sure and get more sales
-
This was a bad time to release the album and the movie:
The Wash soundtrack can in no way contend with Britney and Pink Floyd. Those are two monsters that are gonna dominate the charts for quite some time. He should of postponed it.
The Wash movie is gonna have to contend with Harry Potter for Christ sakes. The media is blowing this mofo up plus everybnody and they momma is gonna go see it before they even contemplate seeing the Wash. And you can't forget Monsters Inc. is still bringing in dough.
It was a bad business move to release both Wash products right now and I mean a BIG mistake.

There is no good time to release your shit during the Holiday period. Damn--I thought you knew that? Oh well. Regardless-If people want the album, theyll buy it eventually, you know? Again-The next 5 or 6 weeks are gonna be chocked full of albums from popular artists. Also-I seriously doubt Pink Floyd and Britney took a huge chunk out of The Wash's sales. Damn-I still cant get over how ignorant that "bad business move" post was.
-
So your telling me it was not a bad move to release the soundtrack and especially the movie at this time? If you can just use your brain for a moment think about what I was saying, with the numerous movies and albums coming out it would have been better to release everything earlier.
And another thing? where did I say that Pink Floyd and Britney took a chunk of the Wash's sales? I agree that in the next 5 week there will be alot of albums released, of course. Anyone who has half a brain knows that since it is the Christmas season. The problem is I am talking about now and not the near future. And if someone wants the soundtrack it is not necessarily true they will do out and buy it. If someone only has enough cash to buy one CD and they gotta choose between a soundtrack or a album, most of the time the person will choose the album.
For real man, instead of trying so hard to critisize my statements maybe you should of paid more attention to what I was saying.

Nah-Your points are weak. For real, I served you on an open platter, ya dig? You made stupid comments, and I exposed them for being stupid. It's not that big of a deal that you got told. Maybe one of these days Ill say something dumb and you can set me straight?

Good question. Im a good talker--as you all can tell..but Ive never gotten my ass kicked because people see that Im sarcastic and thats the way I am. Also-Im a pretty strong guy (not to brag..) And just so you know--Im not still in highschool or middleschool like the majority of the posters here so the comment is kinda irrelevant. Anymore questions?
-
Straight Enough Answer ;)
-
You served me and I supposedly got 'told'? Where?
Your dillusional for real. Instead of going on talking about yourself how about you answer my questions in my last statement. I guess your not capable so you ignored them.

Whatever makes you feel better, you know? Regardless-can we please keep the content about the Wash soundtrack. I wouldnt want the mods to have to lock this up.
-
Umm...the questions were about the Wash.
Its okay if you can't answer them. All you had to do was say you couldn't.
-
Gee!!! It's only FIRST WEEK sales y'all, not a disaster!!!! THE WASH WILL GARNER A PLAQUE, that's for sure (ANYTHING DRE DOES GARNERS PLAQUES, Gold or Platinum) coz it has two excellent lead singles... And "Bad Intentions" gets crazy airplay here on NY radio, not just on the West Coast, whereas Bones and that weak Snoop 1st single/video doesn't get shit (that's why Bones will be double wood fo' real). So The Wash will be another success. Y'all gotta understand, SOUNDTRACKS AIN'T ALBUMS. Last time I even liked a soundtrack the way I like The Wash, shit, I can't even remember when it was... Plus, "Nutty Professor 2" went platinum (ONLY platinum) coz of Janet's #1 mega comeback hit, Sisqo's "Thong Song" remix, Jigga's "Hey Papi" banger, Case and Musiq subsequent big hits and a whole bunch of established Rap and R&B superstars going from Eminem, DMX and Method Man to Brian McKnight and Dru Hill. Y'all can expect a gangsta rap soundtrack full of newcomers to fare the same even if DRE is behind it. In clear, I would love to see Platinum but Gold wouldn't be bad at all...
-
that's why Bones will be double wood fo' real). >>
If bones is "double wood" then over 90 percent of albums dont even reach wood status.

Yo, I wasn't trying to diss Snoop or nothin'... That's my man... But I just don't like the Bones soundtrack (it's very very very average) and I think the promo for the CD was wack anyway... That's why it won't sell... But I ain't dissin' Snoop, G...

Im just saying when I hear the phrase double wood I think of Death Row's latest CDs that combined have probably barely hit the 50,000 mark. Bones probably sold upwards of 200,000 copies which obviously is nothing to brag about, but its also not "double wood".
