only about 20 people at the store.. they only let people with confirmed pre-orders in.. about 20 people in total plus hangers on..
so i have a wii, wii sports (duh), zelda + tony hawks downhill jam.. and a lone nunchuck
"wii play" (and wiimote) i have to pick up on sat.. so no multiplayer until then
oh and no component cable

Nice, hopefully i'll be able to pick one up tomorrow, if not I won't be able to get one until some time next year most likely. Have fun.

tony hawk.. seems cool but will take some learning turning with teh wiimote
tennis is ok but dont see point yet, bowling i find boring..
playing golf.. quite like it! tricky though.. i guess thats what put people off

I like golf, when you get to one of the par 5 holes pay attention to the left side of the map because theres a little tiny fairway that you can try to land on and it leaves you with a shorter straight shot to the hole. Problem is if you land in the rough around it they consider it out of bounds and you're penalized a stroke and have to tee off again.
I'm interested to hear what you think of baseball since baseball isn't a major sport over there.

A game that comes with the Wii that has 5 different sports on it to show off the wii controller. Its pretty fun.

just tried boxing.. i really like it.. i thought i would but reviews lowered my expectations.. shits a workout though

Try hitting 96 MPH with a fastball. I tried for 3 hours and could only get 95 no matter how fast I did my throwing motion lol
I loved hitting and pitching, but then again I love baseball so it isn't very surprising that I liked it.

I havent' gotten it yet. I'm most intrigued by golf and bowling, since the developers claim nobody has bowled a perfect game yet, since you theoretically would have to practice nearly as much with the wii-mote as a pro bowler would with a real ball to bowl a perfect game. I'm hoping golf is gruelingly hard as well but we'll have to see. My friend I work with just got one wednesday, he claims call of duty is bad-ass.

just got back from town.. another store had "wii play" so i've now got the 2 sets of controllers for multiplay.. picking my mate up in a few hours 8)
went back to the original store and swapped my "wii play" i was owed from them for rayman..
so the only thing i'm short of now is a component cable

Overseer is so fucking GANGSTA his works without the sensor bar. He was just like "fuck it" and it (the wii), fearing for it's life, said "o.k. mr. overseeer, I'll do my best".

"Oh, the sensor bar... I wonder where I would put that, it's probably like 3 feet long"
Of course the box the Wii comes in is only a foot long, but I never put 2 and 2 together.

boxing is really fun. tennis is cool too, you just gotta learn the right ways to hit the balls. at first when ur just lobbying back and forth its pretty fun, but once u learn the strategies like exaclty when to hit the ball and how to hit it, you can start to manipulate the ball. and it starts to become pretty intense.

and thats wack, the US version of Sports, comes in just in a regular cardboard cover, like something a sampler cd would come in or some shit. its got a booklet and everything, but not like that.

ah fo reals.. hehe.. wii play aint all that anyways.. actually it kinda sucks.. but 9 games and a wiimote its worth it.. maybe..

i got to play multiplayer today.. didn't get round to rayman.. although i'm still unlocking the levels on that mental game..
i've unlocked quite a bit of tony hawks downhill too.. its not half bad..
as for wii play/wii sports.. multiplayer style.. here's my verdict
tennis - not bad.. looks more fun that is.. (i kick ass)
baseball - i can't get on with this at all.. (got my ass kicked)
bowling - meh.. not bad.. bit boring.. funny that the mii's in other lanes are playing away to (i lost by 1 pin)
golf - did the full 9 rounds with the homie.. its a sleeper.. think it might end up having the most depth (i was 10 behind at the end) gonna have another 9 on my own right now :)
boxing - i knocked him the fuck out! got us sweating quick

yea golf is definitely the hardest to grasp,but ive gotten a hold of it and now its pretty fun,fuckin hit a 40yard chip in the other day haha shit was sweet :D

They are selling them here in supermarkets. There were like 10 of them. But nobody is buying them. People here in Italy doesnt even know about Wii. Funny. 230€ if i remember it well.

For real man. Here people dont even know about Wii or Nintendo DS. They only know/buy PS2, PS3, PSP and 360. I mean they have Wii and DS for sale, but people ain't buying them. I know a couple of guys in a very huge supermarket here, and he told me they sold just 1 DS (they ordered like 30 of them) and no Wii (i've seen 10 of them today). They're selling PS2's for 100€ here (included PES6) and people is buying that shit for Xmas. Or a 360 with Gears of War/PES6. It's funny to see people going crazy for Wii, DS and PS3 all over the world but here, lol.

Man what can i say? I only know Mario from your list, and it's the same for 99% of italians. I'm not saying the game sucks or Nintendo sucks, i'm just saying they don't have a good market here. Game Boy was pretty popular tho'. But 10 years ago.

See, I never even got so far as to think of pieces that fit together. I looked at the contents on the side of the box, and when I saw the bar, I visualized it as three feet long, even though I was holding the box in my hands. I didn't even catch that, lol.

No no, it has nothing to do with Mario being italian.
Nintendo just doesn't sell well here.
And i think Italy is not strategic for them since they ain't even promoting it.
It's like The Sopranos, i know you guys love them and shit, but here nobody knows who The Sopranos are.
They don't play it on tv's.
I know about them from the net.
Actually they show it on satelite, but nobody really cares.

Update: still no consolles sold, lol. They have just one game, i think it's named Zelda. Obviously they sold no copies of it.

No. I talked with the guys who works there and they told me 90% of their target is parents who wants to buy a present for their kids, and they basically know about Playstation. The name itself is so popular here that it's amazing, everybody has a modded PS2 here, all the kids (10-15 years). Those parents dont know about Wii. It's not on tv, they ain't making commercials, people ain't talking about it, so they simply skip it and go directly to the PS2 point. Some of them stops in the XBOX360 point, cause it's huge and there are HD tv's, games to try, you know.. it's well promoted. But 399€ is a lot. They're selling PS2's for 100€ here, with 2 games (PES6 and Smackdown vs Raw 2007). That's a great offer for the parents. PS2 is destroying everybody. About people of 20-30 age.. i think they simply pre-ordered it online. Anyway it's not a big target. And for sure nobody has bought a Wii or Zelda from there.
I think Italy is simply not ready yet for Wii. No promotion at all, no ads, no commercials. Just like Nintendo DS. Then, in a couple of months, i think they'll start to read about it from the papers and they'll start to buy it. It happened the same with DS. It sold embarassing units in the first months, but now there's a small community of people who's proud of them, and it's growning.
Nintendo DEF needs to promote their consolles better, here. They can't win against Sony PS2, PS3 and PSP (or even XBOX360) if they don't do it.
