Post by: PLANT on November 13, 2001, 11:32:07 AM
I believe this album will be dropping on dec. 11th and im really looking forward to it for a number of reasons...i really miss hearing nas's voice, he is one of the few east coast rappers i listen to, plus i really wanna hear how he comes back after jay z' s attack on him...i think jayz is gonna be taken from his throne when this album drops and i cant wait for the real king of NY to return to HIS thrown....what yall think???

I really don't care about this "jayz is the king of rap" stuff anymore... Nas has always been a better rapper than JayZ and that's that... Nas doesn't do what JayZ does to get his fame higher... nas will always be a better rapper than JayZ and I'm sure everyone here can agree with that... JayZ might get the sales, but nas gets the respect

nas gets the respect?
...from who?

"ThaFormula.com - (Here we go) What did you think about "Stillmatic" by Nas?

Cormega -I mean, I heard it and I was like Ha Ha Ha!  I think it was a desperate attempt and I appreciated my name being mentioned in the song with a artist of the caliber of Jay - Z cause now you introducing me to a whole new degree of people who start to wonder who's Cormega, etc., etc.  So now I responded to that and that's that.  I'm not focused on that cause that dude doesn't even worry me right now.  I'm not even thinkin about him.  The old me, I would have kept responding, I would have kept makin jointz bombin him.  But I'm not even worrying about him cause he's so beneath me.  I'll battle that nigga at any arena, anywhere and I'm leaving the winner.

ThaFormula.com - Now you responded back to him with Realmatic.  How fast did you record that track?

Cormega - Man, I did that shit the next day!  That move helped the industry respect me more cause I had just put out The Realness at that time and people were just gettin used to that and sayin this shit is incredible, etc., etc.  So now for this dude to try to diss me and I follow up his shit within days.  Like within days my shit was on the radio and on mix tapes.  Some people heard my response, before they heard his shit.  So it's like this dude Mega is serious.  Like Nas is lettin people see how serious I am as an artist.  No artist will ever diss me and I'm just gonna eat that and I don't respond.  But it's nothing personal.  I'm not even mad at the dude.  Like I said that was a desperate attempt.  That was like his last grasp for breathe cause he cannot fuck with me right now.

ThaFormula.com - Now alot of fans are sayin that his new album will mark the return of Illmatic.  What are your thoughts on that ?

Cormega - I mean, everybody wants to return to their glory days.  Like Patrick Ewing wishes he could be the beast from the East, but come on.  You and me both know that that's not gonna be done.  The closest thing to Illmatic that came out recently wasn't even by him, it was by me, ha ha ha!  "

Cormega gets the respect!

I dont think it is fair to judge is Nas is respected based on an interview with cormega considering tha fact that Cormega has beef with him,  I bet if they never replaced cormega with nature on tha firm album,  cormega would be givin mad props to Nas,  anywayz i cant wait for Nas's new album,  I hope he rips Jay-Z apart

i agree with yall bigg bpgand tom ...nas gets mad respect and jayz sales dont mean shit to me....nas has the best lyrical fitness in rap period....he can rap over any beat and he brings meaning to everyone of his songs....and i hope he tears jayz apart 2when this album drops

I know this is your opinion but how do you think Cormega is better then Nas?

Nas IS ALOT better then cormega. Cormega isn't on Nas's level. But obviously I'm feeling cormega and the realness based on the picture.

lol....you dudez would probly love anythang dat dont sell but soundz pretty decent for somethin dat don sell....imo...tha reason some headz prefer nas over jay....iz cauze they prefer nasez vocals over jay"z.....i don.....but as for lyricz there ain no doubt jay iz on a whole other level....itz kind of an insult for jigga to be put wit nas in tha same category...

p.s some pipz need to get read of their "everythang dat sellz iz garbage".....jigga might get commercial sucsess...dat what happenz to some of tha good shit eventually (see big,pac,em...etc)...but he ain comersialised......if you don know what i mean or tha diffrence between tha two (you know, aside of itz bein a big attitude problem...lol)...hiz shit haz to much lyrical quallity for yall to call him comersialised....

While i personally think Nas is better than Jay Z, i don't see how you guys (Bigg BPG , the Shiznit227) think Nas gets the respect....
Maybe you guys don't remember the song Nastradamus, or some of the other corny shit Nas has done.  I mean, at least when Jay Z goes the commercial route he makes dope songs, but Nas has made a lot of weak shit.
I feel Nas is a better rapper/mc, but Jay Z knows how to make hits like no other.  They are totally different, Nas should be Nas and jay should be Jay.
All that being said, Nas new single (which he is shooting the video for right now) Got Yourslef a Gun is tighter than anything on Jay Z's album, and i also think that Illmatic and It was Written are better than any two Jay Z albums.
But lately, it's all been Jay Z, until this album comes out and hopefully gets some RESPECT back for Nas.

Nas rips Jay-Z. I like Jay-Z, no doubt, but Nas, well, IMO, he's a whole 'nother level. Cormega, well, Cormega...is an angry guy. I can understand some of it, but he seems jealous of Nas, cause Mobb Deep have screwed him over previously, but cause they're not famous, they get away with it.
