First of all, if Snoop is tryin to push a return to the gangsta element with this album, nothin captures that better than a public display of Snoop and Dre together again
Second, that song, with the right video will guarantee a platinum plaque for Snoop
Third, its the perfect set up for DETOX....
fuckin industry makes no sense to me sometimes
-
maybe cuz snoop doesn't want to put out his best song from his album as his single...
-
or maybe cuz dre ain't the "it" guy in the mainstream like he was 2 3 years ago...
-
Round Here > Imagine x100
-
The song would do BIG numbers. Kind of like when Why came out for Jadakiss. Snoop has alot of dope songs on this album but not alot that are radio friendly. This song is and Round Here would be dope too.

Why not? If it's his best song then and it is commerically appealing then it would make a lot of sense to make it a single. The fact that Dre is on it with Snoop would garuntee it a success and would push Snoop Dogg to platinum sales.

So they are not releasing it as a single?
-
I agree, they should make it a single. They could make a crazy vid for it too
-
People are making it sound like the album has been out 6 months or something. It has only been out a month. That's That is starting to do damage.
-
Imagine could be a nice single, but i wouldnt release it now, it would be a bad timing, "Thats That Shit" is getting major airplay and is starting to be big. so In my opinion they should release it as the last single, But i agree this song could be a huge single, not only because its Dr.Dre & Snoop Dogg. but also because it marks D'angelo's return to the spotight
-
It is a great song, but I can't see radio stations playing it. Radio stations don't play good music they play all that southern shit.
-
this type of song won't get ANY spins outside the westcoast

True talk there, others love to hate, westcoast appreciate.
-
I think Imagine is way overrated
-
That shit would have been my lead single.
-
They play this wacc ass song on K-Day all the time...The song isn't really radio material though, it wouldn't really get much love outside of So Cal. and I doubt it would boost sales solely based off this song
Imagine = overrated
-
I think Imagine is way overrated
Co sign, song is average at best
-
I agree, they should make it a single.
^Word...I hope they get D'Angelo to be in the music video...he hasn't really appeared on a big single in a long time... 8)

Round Here > Imagine x100
maybe not by 100 but its better fo sho
-
i disagree.. ive seen this track get more love from people outside of the west coast on diff forums,, then this very west coast forum, which i found interesting ..
with that being said it should be the last single off snoops album and it would get people hyped for detox .. with that being said dre has rarely done anything for any1 else lately so i doubt it will happen and he may not want this dropping as a single before his lead track off detox .. especially if that is to have snoop on it..i maybe wrong tho
-
This song isn't single material at all. It's too chilled; something you'd put on in the crib to wind down, but not something that you'd play in the ride or the club - not to say that all singles have to be aimed at the club, but Imagine is just too laid back to catch anyone's attention.
And Tech, I see your point, but think about it - if, as you say, Snoop wants to bring the gangsta vibe back, why release one of the least gangsta tracks as single?
-

co-sign, its a good song but not even close to the best on the album. it might do well on the radio, but not because its snoop and dre. radio listeners have a short attention span and its doubtful that a lot of the people that call into radio stations now even remember who dre is.
-
imagine will blow -..dre + snoop + rnb hook = money
the albums been out 3 weeks drop it like its hot dropped in october 2004 with ups and downs august 2005
-
Imagine is among the dopest tracks on the album but it may be too subtle to catch some attention. It is tight to bump in the ride though.
It would bring the gangsat vibe back because it's snoop and dre together which connotes 'gangsta' in the mind of the mainstream despite however inaccurate our rap geek asses may find it to be (you cats are funny, "well dre never gangbanged blah bla..").
Also, if Black Ty has a remix of this song wouldn't that mean that it is very likely the song will be a single? I know I've been gone for 4 years but typically when shit gets remixed it's a single.
Hm, then again if that's that shit is a bangin single this one should be too because that's that shit is pretty subtle and laid back. Not to mention whack as fuck.
Trust dude, people know who the fuck dr.dre is. I can't tell you how many regular ass know nothingh about music ass cats come up talking about dre's 1992 the chronic and how dope it is. i see punker and scene kids wearing 'the chronic' shirts and shit all the time, i wanna ask those cats if they've heard the record.
furthermore, HALF the hits Dre has spawned in his career motherfuckers had no CLUE he was even involved. Dude on the street didn't know dre was behind the boards on "who am I" for example dude. No CLUE, they just couldn't help but love that shit. THAT'S why he's the shit. he doesn't rely on his name, he continues to make commercial yet artististically worthwhile shit and that's what it is.
Shit even I didn't know dre produced in da club because i was so uncurious about a 50 cent song that i didn't know dre produced that song till like a couple weeks ago since i've been getting into wc rap again. That song is actually whack as fuck but dre still knew how to make a song sell. It's funny how people keep wanting to look cool by putting on a toe tag on doc dre. "yeah he's whack now. Yeah i said it." riiight.

Yeah...Last i heard dude was all cracked out...you can tell by his voice on Imagine...He just aint himself like "Brown Sugar" or "VooDoo" D'Angelo...thats the one i wish showed up on Imagine but yeah...i hope he does make the video if they decide to run with Imagine...dope beat...lyrics are nice...California mellow Dre noize...i used to fast forward that track cause of D'Angelo but its growing on me and im getting used to his new raspy voice...peace!!
-
true it makes no sense i personally would release it if it my album but sometimes you push that ego aside and do what's right for business
-
I think Imagine is way overrated
Co sign, song is average at best
-
I think it would do good, its not a club song but its a deep song w/Snoop & Dre, nice beat and hook, and i think this would be a dope last single
I think this track is better than average but not fucken classic, or legendary, as some people might put it.
-
it's a perfectly melodic beat, and dre's verse is the best dre verse i've heard in years, and snoop's delivery is on point though his lyrics are whatever in this song. near classic to me.

I don't get it. I listen to this album all the time, I am NOT feeling Imagine yet. I don't like the lyrics, I don't even particularly like the beat. Both of the other Dre tracks are better. I had high expectations for it but it just don't do much for me. Snoop tries really fucking hard to save it, but it ain't enough.
