Title: Dr. Dre's beat on Hip Hop is Dead...........
Post by: Detox Iz Not Active on December 15, 2006, 06:03:52 PM
:o  boring, predictable, and not even a top 7 beat on the album.  After hearing the beats he gave Snoop I was expecting something w/this track.  Shit is worse or as bad as weak as the Kingdom Come beats

I'll believe it when I hear it, people are impossible these days. I heard someone say imagine was average the other day and it's a dre beat that makes me happy so I'll be skeptical until I hear a whack dre beat. only whack/average dre beats i've heard in the last 7 years are in da club and say what you say from eminem show.

Actually, he's 41.

So what?  Quincy Jones was in his 50s when he produced "Thriller".

it's a good beat, but it doesn't knock as hard is i'm used 2 with dre beats. Drums are a bit simple and not bangin hard. Still i really like this song , it's my 3rd favorite on the album. It's a good beat, But not the best dre can do

as a song by itself it aint that special (still dope btw, a grower)... but it fit's nas' album real nice... even though it's safe to assume the track wasnt taylor made to the album.

those beats are both better, more catchy than QB Tru G or Hustlers or whatever its called. in da club is fire.

It sounds a lot like Get You Some.  Peep the chorus too.  Very similar.

it was decent/good as Lost Ones or anything new from him that wasnt "Imagine" or "Been Through The Storm (that I've heard anyways), the mixing/mastering is what really threw it off. See the mastering is fit to match the rest of the tracks on "Hiphop Is Dead". (THIS IS FACT: Look how crisp the mastering on Busta/Snoop/Game's dre-given tracks are compared to this one). So I can understand and cope with it.

By the way, people will NEVER BE happy with dre production now because they expect a jesus revival everytime the guy is mentioned on an album. Newflash: the guy isnt an untouchable producer. I still rank Quik, Timbaland and Eric Sermon above him. And until fans just prep themselves up to listen to "a good beat" and no more (meaning nothing SUPER GROUNDBREAKING, SIMPLY BECAUSE IT IS DRE) then they will continue to set themselves up for disappointment. Just my take.

I think all those recently released Dre beats are just loops he got out of his vault ... probably even to lower expections because he's having too much pressure

Its boring indeed. Its like its not even completed.

Just got the instrumental version, if anyone wants it let me know.

Post by: Tanjential on December 16, 2006, 10:13:01 AM
I'd like the instrumental version.

Also, I read that Game is on the Dre produced track on allmusic.com, that an error?

I also agree with 4108 about the not expecting something groundbreaking every time Dre does a beat, to just expect a good beat. I feel that's exactly what I do: I expect a quality product, and that's it. And to do that consistently is damn near groundbreaking in a world of inconsistent art, feel?

Quik is better at what he does, but Dre's sprectrum is alot wider than Quiks. Timbaland almost the opposite, his spectrum is wide but no matter what he does he gears it towards a commercial context (radio, club, dancing) as a priority above gearing it towards quality art or even melody. Timbo is sweet, real sweet, but his lack of live instrumentation is what puts his sound below Dre's in how appealing it is.

^^^Yeah Game is on that track, apparentely it woz recorded at the same time as the busta/nas 1 from big bang.

I like QB Tru G, its a good track, the beat is bangin but its just looped, a great beat but if it had been made into a proper track it wud hav fantastic!

Dre's beat was rubbish.

Same style he's been running with since 2001.

Yo Dre change ya style or go back to G-Funk.

I think everyone would be better off if they thought like me

I don't even give a fuck about a Dr. Dre beat and I take it for what it's worth

everybody on here lookin for something in his production (dont know what) and everyone is leaving with hurt feelings

Well the artists are also picking the beats so apparently they do not have a problem with the beats and I know half of the people in this forum if they were offered these Dre beats they would take them, no questions asked. Yeah they can be repetitive at times, but Dre is still one of the top producers in the game, if not the best. BTW that Chris Webber beat for Blunt Ashes is sick.

I wish he would have used a different midi instrument that the strings, but outside of that I like the beat alot, everything about it but the midi instrumentation. Even what he's doing witht he strings is cool, the string riff is in the same tempo as the percussion but it's just barely off, out of phase, it's actually a very clever and effective technique.

also, it's looped but this track really was meant to be moved by the MCs and it is. so i feel the looping is ok.

Finally got around to listening to the album and for the most part it's not that bad...Neva really been a Nas music type dude though, so I'm suprised myself   :o

As far as the tracc Dre produced ("Hustlers"), it's actually not that bad. I was expecting the same dark beat with that damn piano looping he's been giving everybody...it's a better tracc to me then "Imagine" is, but nothing mind blowing...A couple of traccs he gave Jay aren't that bad either..The traccs he gave to Snoop are just dissapointing
