because it is only compatible with the hiptop network (sidekick) plan and only tmobile provides that...

so u will only be able to use it as a phone and for textmessaging mostly....

and if it were to ever die from not being charged for more than a few hours u can lose all your information on it... because the sidekicks work by backing up everything on the tmobile servers...

i can use it fully.
but if i unlock the phone itself then i can use other company sim cards. like i can have a sidekick 3 with cingular.

yeah i know you can still use the phone... but if u try and use another carrier im just letting you know that u will not be able to get online... other carriers dont offer internet services to the phone... they run of the Hiptop Network... so u cant use it with any internet services... good luck tho...
