bit premature doofus.. the encryption which is linked to the disk watermark is still in place..

I read that too...how long before they create a hack on Linux.

its a bit more than a hack.. and its beyond linux..

thing is now though.. the data is transportable onto any form of media.. (so the raw files from the disk can be copied to a usb caddy, poked at on windows pc's, mac's etc..)

the problem is.. this security aspect is the whole region coding / copy protection blah blah system behind blue ray..

it is really the big thing that seperates it from hd dvd.. and is what (if blue ray takes off) would give sony power and royalties over the other formats..  as this gives movie studios and the MPAA reliable copy protection..

this "sony controls it all" thing is why people are so anti blue ray..

so blue ray's security algo's being cracked is kinda like the whole "decss" situation.. but far far worse for blue ray..
