My friend is telling me Game's releasing the kanye single to get kanye's fans to buy the album or whatever but maaaan i feel like there is way better single material on the album.
remedy, da shit, compton, are all catchy and 'too much'???? MY GOD what a catchy ass banger, sounds alot like the WSCG song with Nate though, what was that song called?

It makes sense when you look at it as far as marketability....
Kanye did the beat, and raps on it...which means it has much more of a univesal sound than any of the other tracks you mentioned. Remedy, Da Shit, and Compton are only catchy to us who are fans of West Coast gangsta rap and street soundin rap...but it doesn't have the catchiness and appeal of Wouldn't get far.
Not only that, but the subject matter on this track is controversial to the point that it stirs up a lotta convo...which it has already done. People are always talkin about "u heard that song where Game disses/calls out Mellysa Ford and Vida???" so it stays in discussion.
Too much would have had a better chance back in 2001 as a single...but it wouldn't be as strong of a single right now. Nate was hotter then (to the public) and that beat has more of a early 2000's West feel to it.
-
It'll get white girls going wild.
-
when did gangsta nation come out? the same public that loved that song would love 'too much'. who produced gangsta nation?
i don't think it sounds very street, early 2000s west coast production is reeeeally slickly produced 70's funk, shit comes straight out the 70's too much does, shit would BANG in the club. I think 'how we do' proved that the era a single comes from is irrelevant, if that shit is a catchy single it's a catchy single.

The song is horrible but its a genius marketing move by Game.
-
wouldn't get far you'd say is genius?
word, it's a cool song, not the best but it's cool. but truuuust, too much would knock down the walls. maybe it'd be a good third single.

I was at the Pink poodle in San Jo last night and one girl did a set to that, dope track
-
a dance set or what? which song too much or wgf?

-
its a strip club. wgf

It'll get white girls going wild.
hopefully the negro and latina girls as well... :D
-
One Blood peaked at #71 and Let's Ride at #46 so hopefully this single will at least hit the top 20 and get Game's album past plat, its already getting a lot of airplay in NYC so that's a good sign...
-
It's a smart move. All of you wanting Cali Vacation as a single need to come back to reality. "Wouldn't Get Far" will do well on the charts because the beat and misogynistic lyrics appeal to women.
-
wouldnt get far cuz kanye is on it, and game will sell more albums with this song as a single vrs other songs on his album.
-
i would have loved to see compton or westcoast joint with snoop n xzibit released, since compton is soo old school its crazy, the beat is bangin but it takes hiphop back to its roots but keeps it fresh, game is spittin fire but like they did back in the day, but kept a new school touch to it......and the westcoast joint with snoop and xzibit is just a banger nuff said, the beat, the joint, from the streets to the clubs, joint should be used like put you on the game, its a favourite
-
oh but from a marketing point, it does make sense to put out wouldnt get far for a number of reasons i guess
-
Wouldn't Get Far is a bad ass jam. I like the scratching on the beat. Rappers need to start getting DJ's to scratch on their records more.
-
I like the song, imo it's a good choice, catchy beat and Kanye on it, can't really go wrong in terms of marketing
-
not the best song but it has a catchy beat
-
good track...kanye did good work on this
-
You guys still havent realized that the wackest tracks are picked as the singles ? Its just the way it is these days.
-
very simple
the better the song the worse it will do on radio

yup, its coz they need to appeal to the average fan. The guy or girl who only has a few rap albums in there collection who doesent know too much about hip hop. To them the track is dope but to someone into the music there is always a better choice on the album.
The singles need to be universal so people will go and buy the album.
-
i think scream on em would be a good single
-
Wouldn't Get Far is an obvious single choice. If I wanted to sell records, I'd put that shit out there.
If he's gonna drop another one after that, I'd probably go with Too Much.
-
around the world would have been a better single
-
Just my thoughts, I think scream on 'em is the worst song on the album, there's nothing tight about swizz that justblaze doesn't do better. also, around the world is not a favorite but maybe it'd be a good single. not that wouldn't get far isn't a tight song, it's the only ho song game has done that I like but I just think too much would be an even better single.

I think it works as a good single, its catchy and Kanye is real popular. But he can milk this CD for at least 3 more singles easily. Compton, Too Much, California Vacation (for the West Coast) are all obvious choices.
-
too much would tear the house down.
