u know where to go, here (http://www.bet.com/articles/1,,gb218-1041,00.html)
little article ,, nice one

here it is:
Eighteen year-old Woody from Brooklyn lost his mother to cancer a couple of months before this warm night, one that finds him standing angrily on an apartment building's stoop. Woody's huge, uncontrollable Rottweiler nearly chewed the hell out of a passerby's leg. When confronted with the likelihood that the victim would press charges, he shrugs. "F*** him, he should've crossed the street." Woody has no love for anyone he doesn't know personally. Now that his moms is gone, he says, no one else on earth is willing to love him -- that is, except for his dog he's entrusted to protect him.
The video to DMX' "Falling" shows a similar relationship between a young man and his dog. Throughout the video, people fail him but his dog remains by his side. A mirror-image of the relationship between Earl "DMX" Simmons and his dog "Boomer," Woody has teamed up with his canine friend to play hard against the bad hand life has dealt him.
You'd think that this was some misguided kid under the influence of the ever-menacing trance of "gangsta-rap." But Woody is far from a fan who's unable to separate fact from fiction. Instead, Woody is one of the many young and frustrated that finds the Yonkers, NY-based rebel DMX as a gravelly voice of reason in an unreasonable world.
When X dropped "Get At Me Dog" in February 1998, he was hailed as the street's king of thugs. While the charts remained flooded with glossy hits from Puff Daddy and assorted cheap knock-offs, many rap fans became alienated, thirsting for hip-hop's once-raw, untainted honesty. Tupac was dead, and so was what the streets called "the realness." Thug-hop was on the horizon, but still unnoticed by the masses. That was until the Dark Man X slammed his uncompromising attitude on the table. "What must I go through to show you sh** is real/And I ain't really never gave a f*** how niggaz feel."
The streets embraced D immediately. In clubs like New York's The Tunnel, "Get At Me Dog" would cause near-riots and made ballers fear for their riches. "Ruff Ryders Anthem" came out three months later and it was more of the same. Emphatically, rap fans screamed his chorus: "Stop, drop/Shut 'em down, open up shop/Oh, no/That's how Ruff Ryders roll." DMX' chants of "What?!" after every line also helped in propelling him to sidewalk sainthood. When DMX's debut CD, It's Dark and Hell Is Hot finally hit stores it flew off the selves, selling a whopping 2 million copies. The Dark Man became such a phenomenon that his label Def Jam released Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood the same year. Both albums charted on Billboard, making DMX the first rap artist to chart two albums in one year.
Along with DMX' fame came harsh criticism and a few legal skirmishes. Rap purists felt that wasn't lyrical enough to garner the respect he was getting. Moral safeguards cited his abrasive content as vulgar and too violent. The album cover for Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood showed DMX in a bathtub drenched in blood, so it became the target of anti-rap interest groups. In enthusiasts' eyes, though, it was worth platinum three times over.
In June of '98, DMX was arrested for rape and sodomy of a 29-year-old woman. Two months later the case was dismissed after DNA tests proved that DMX was innocent. The following May, X was charged with a stabbing in Denver, and those charges were later dropped. He was accosted by animal rights activists for showing chained dogs barking at each other in his video for "What's My Name," claiming the clip promoted illegal dog fighting. Weed possession and driving without a license was the cases New York gave him when he was arrested in March of '00. All the while his album ...And Then There Was X was selling over 3 million copies and shooting straight to Billboard?s number one spot. The people had spoken, flatly declaring that it takes more than a few felony charges to break their loyalty.
Along with the 'hood props, DMX snatched up the love of the mainstream market with his film roles. Bitten by the acting bug, X made his film debut in Hype Williams 1998 slumper Belly, alongside Nas and T-Boz of TLC. Belly as a movie was torn apart by critics, but DMX' acting ability turned enough heads to get him a role as a computer genius in Exit Wounds early this year opposite Steven Segal. He's also scored the starring role in Lazarus, the upcoming sequel to "The Crow."
After some time off, DMX has returned with his latest album, The Great Depression. Surrounded by imagery of 1960?s turmoil, his video to "Who We Be" might be a tad much for his newer followers to swallow. On the song, X rhymes about all the drama of surviving in and out of poverty. With all the patriotism abounding in the United States, issues like civil rights and racial injustice seem trivial to the masses. Nonetheless, DMX is who - and what -- Woody from Brooklyn latched onto. Love him or hate him, DMX is a voice of a generation. Not only a generation of hip-hop hungry consumers, but a generation of struggling youth who simply want to survive.

-
i'm gonna have to say i used to like him back then... i liked his first album it was pretty dope.. then he was fallin off a litle but still he can still come out with good music
right now i'm not much of a fun but still
-
I still love his debut album and play it constantly. His other albums don't get any replay. I haven't bought his new one yet though.
-
I Agree With WCV, I Love His First Album But The Others Aint Gonna See The Light Of Day.
-
no DMX here thanks.. I liked Stop Being Greedy when it came out.. but that was about it.

you can't say that you weren't bumpin that shit when it first came out...i mean before it played out...i ain't affraid to say that i chanted it oen time or another, peace.
nah ... actually .. i didnt like that track .. i thaught it was wack already from beggining .. but i gotta admit i waz bumpin the album, just a little, when it came out...
-
how can i describe DMX in one word?
easy...
overrated
-
^^^ exactly.. hes got skill but he is overrated
-
DMX is the type of rapper that gets a cult following, and that is why he sells so many records.
I respect him sales wise, and i love a couple joints like Slippin and Ruff Ryders Anthem, but he bores me cuz of his gimmicky voice and shit.
-
Biggest 'Pac biter alive.
-

I thought it was bullshit the first time I heard it, and it's still bullshit today. DMX is second most overated next to Jay-Z, they're both on Def Jam, and radio stations get payed to make their shit rotational

If DMX was a West Coast rapper, none of y'all would be sayin' this... Snoop never had stronger lyrics than X but y'all praise him. I love both "dogs" for their flows but X actually TOUCHES me (A song like "A Minute For Your Son" is what I call a real song coz it's heartfelt). Snoop's my man, no question, but he has yet to drop any DEEP song. And he got DRE so it helps a whole fuckin' lot... So let me say it again: if DMX was from the West Coast and sellin' 17 million records worldwide (13 inland) like he did, y'all would be PRAISING him coz West Coast fans MOSTLY care about sales, sales and mo' sales... Which is fine with me though, I respect man. But X's the man...

i can't speak for anyone else becuase that's probably true but even if dmx was westcoast i still wouldn't be feeling him any....evidence is a westcoast rapper and i don't feel him any either, but the reason why people (including me) praise snoop is becuase he was legendary back in the day and he is still capable of being that, plus his voice is probably one of the best in the industry so that's probably why alot of people praise him so much
-
true we can't really talk about dmx being west coast cause , if he was , the beat , the flow n the lyrics would have been different so he would had a complete different style , trust me
-
Dope story Slickk, Real Dope! That's how I feel about Snoop, I'm going to try and explain again. When I was at my lowest point in life I picked up a Snoop CD and I remember the lyrics
"stay true to what you do and don't be ashamed"
a light bulb turned on and I went from Brandon to Big B. I went from nothing to something and I was like, this fool is gonna ride it out, he's tha dopest rapper out there, the best personality, the coolest cat alive. Props to Snoop and props to DMX... it's when their words speak louder than their music.... then you appreciate them.... all about what they are saying, not how they are saying it...

thanks , yeah this is from , still a g thang right ;D
that whut i mean , to be good lyricaly u don't have to use a dictionairy... i mean one word can mean a lot ;) u just have to understand the story .. go farther then whut u expect , then u'll see another world
-
I liked DMX at first, but every album he just dropped. I liked his 2nd one more, but 3rd was trash. Catchy yes, but not what I wanted. I heard his 4th, and it's cool, but not what I wanted, but some would like it, but I like his first two. Snoop, Doggystyle and Top Dogg are tight in my opinion. Both are different though. When DMX falls, I know 'cause I like that westcoast flow. When Snoop does, I really can't unless I really listen.
-
Snoop because he got better lyrical flowz and better rhymes..!
-
dmx...iz really one big pac bitter.....and i never waz into hiz shit...
now snoop......yea he got tight flow.....and many othaz got....but hiz lyricz iz simple and unconvincin".......altho he might sound tight under paticular kinds of productionz....g-funk mostly.....where every shity rappa would sound tight too.....hiz flow (although bein unic and shit....)privent hiz simple lyricz from getin into tha head....he ain sharp enough
lyricly to complete this disadvantage of hiz otherwise sonicly tight flow........tha only reason pipz might consider him one of tha top rappaz (from what he iz far...) iz hiz straight conection to tha rissin of g-funk....tha classic chronic....then
him releasin tha sonical folow up to it.....in fact he feated there perfect....and some might say (...imo too)....there waz hiz best lyrical preformances ......you c?....it waz fresh back then...hiz new laconic delivery (back then).....wit hiz supa gangsta atitude..... made pipz overrate him by far....even after hiz best years had passed....
-
how does hew bite pac... did pac ever growl or get into the whole dog thing... did pac have a tatoo of his pit's name on his back... pac did some religious stuff, but did pac ever go and full out pray with his head bowed on his albums... where are the similiarities? the voice? i doubt dmx has any control over his voice... his voice is a product of genetics and too much smoking.
ja rule is a biter... dmx is genuine, he's doing his own thing. he's not nearly as good as pac, but he's not bad, he's not bitin anyone and there is a place for him both in real hip hop and on the mainstream charts
-
i didn't wanted to do another dmx thread so i took this one back... ;D
well.look here (http://www.defjam.com/dmx/site/index.html)
this shit is tight i think, n i wanted ya,ll to see it too..plus fo those who havent or can't see the new dmx video , u can..here. at the same place (http://www.defjam.com/dmx/site/index.html)
-
I like that sight. X is dope IMO. He's never been a lyrical master. But, there's a lot of passion in his work. I really love that WHo We BE video. Mainstream Hip-Hop needed a video like that. X will be around for awhile to come.
-
they say he change the game with this video :P
-
