Title: Two classic albums I never see any of you lames talk about.
Post by: herpes on January 04, 2007, 06:07:24 PM
Both boot camp clik albums, both new york classics with that classic new york, 2 albums I bet only 10 people here have ever actually listened to.  Which album is better ?

I gotta go with Black Moon, they were the first dudes bringing it raw like that on the east coast.  I must've memorized that whole shit.

Both are fuckin' incredible albums, but I think Smif-N-Wesson might have to take the slight nod, they had that hardcore but smoothed style, I still bump both to this day

I've probably heard other BCC music, but I wouldn't know. I did by Heltah Skeltah though. That was a decent album.

I prefer Enta Da Stage, "How Many MC's" is one of my favorite tracks ever, that's how New York should sound and LOOK not this garbage these days. Buckshot is the most underrated and can't forget about Da Beatminerz who never get brought up when talking about greatest producers. If "I Got Cha Opin (Remix)" was on this album I would put it above most albums.

Dah Shinin' was a classic too. Tek > Steele by the way. BUCKTOWN!

I agree with the title. I'm seriously sick of people always bringing up the most cliche of classic albums ie. Illmatic and The Chronic can we talk about the forgotten classics.

Too bad OGC and Heltah Skeltah couldn't make albums on par with those two mentioned above but their albums are worth checking out especially the video "Da Storm" by OGC making fun of Biggie.

Heltah Skeltah's second album "Magnum Force" was kinda dope too, not too many people give that album props. The only recent BCC album that I can say is up to par with the first batch of albums is Sean P's Monkey Barz. If only Pac hadnt died and One Nation got released they would have really gotten some exposure on the mainstream level and had a chance to blow up. They were pretty much always "Wu-tang Jr" popularity wise. I think Enter Da Stage is the only BCC album to see 500,000

Both are dope, production is slightly better on Dah Shinin and the rhymes are better on Enta Da Stage, so overall I'd say its a tie, some classic tracks on both of them though, the loop at the start of "Who Got The Props" always get me so hyped waiting for the rhyme to drop in.

yea heltah skeltah is part of bootcamp clik.  As is buckshot, he is in the group black moon.  And the two albums i mentioned came out in 93  and 95.  I think the heltah skeltah one dropped in 96

Yo, Buckshot is the best in the BCC no doubt, hands down, he spit hot shit on "Chemistry", and he will spit even hotter shit on "The Formula" (the new CD with 9th Wonder).  Sean Price holds it down fa sho, and his partner Rock (from Heltah Skeltah) held it down on "The Last Stand".  A new BCC album would be groundbreaking for NY Hip Hop.

Now that you've mentioned it, I guess you're right. Hip-Hop has changed, so have the 'backpackers'. My mind is just stuck, thinking of modern day backpackers, listening to Atmosphere and Murs, but you're right about what it used to be like.

+1 insight :)

I'm not a Boot Camp Clik fan and I know a real lil about them but my niggas are huge fans of them so I hear bout them like everyday and so anyways, some odd weeks ago they gave me a tape of Smith N Wessun's Dah Shinin'. What a fuckin' coincidence that it's in a poll on dubcc aroun' this time. Anyways I don't know how the FUCK I was sleepin' on them. They gave me some other Boot Camp Clik shit to check but I wasn't feeling it. Smith N Wessun is what stood out. They is crazy.

Dah Shinin' gotta be one of the biggest albums I never heard about and ever sleep on. 'Stand Strong', ' Wrekonize', 'Timz N Hood Chek' all tight tracks. And there's more. All in all, it ain't really my style but hell it's fuckin' tight! Actually they all ain't bad records but I'm assuming it's becuz they are new to me and I have no expections on them.

Great Shit.

Another track I like by Smith N Wessun is featured wit Mary J. Shit I forgot the name of it again. But that track is fuckin' insane too! Was it on an album?

Just to add that the remix of 'Wrekonize' with the 'Just The Two of Us' sample is also definitely worth checking out, very dope.

yea back in the day a backpacker was a kid from NYC who wore a backpack all day b/c it was like a survival pack.  Riding all day on the subway they would have what they needed in it.  Books for school, there tape player, a couple of dutches and some weed, a few mixtapes.  They all usually wore first down jackets and listened to the same music.  The original backpackers were actually the ones that made timbs popular.  But now when you think of a backpacker you think of some well off white kid that drives his moms BMW and listens to atmosphere.

yeah bucksohot and blackmoon were one of the originators of the backpackers look at there 1st vid that created the bcc "Who got the props" eryone got a sack on ther back in that vid,,, along with the poll im also really   suprised that blackmoon is runnin away with it , i look at these albums like this the beats  are almost the same (same producer Da Beatminerz)just a bit more grimey shit on da shinin ... as far as mc's 5 foot accelerator  really is almost non existant so its buckshot vs smiff n wessun ( tek and steele) buckshot is by far the better mc one on one against the others but its a duo that makes smiff n wessun shine the duo together i believe is better than buckshot by  himself there back and forth flow is legendary getting them best duo by the source back in the day also if u put the best song VS. best song it has to be "who got the props" vs "lets get it on"  both classic songs. peeps know who got the props more but when live in Toronto seeing both songs  who got the props was a bangin song that had all the heads actin like they wrote the song feelin like buckshot shorty themselves his killer flow was ridiculous but when "Lets Get It On" came  on and they bust that 1st line ( raised like a rock on the block where the cops carry and the hard rocks carry with props and black hearts) wholly fuck the place blew tha fuck up   front row was a riot jaws gettin tapped bows comin from ery angle Smiff N Wessun  and we do it like this!!!!!!!.. they mastered the back and forth flow 2 make them prolly the best at it them or ghostface killah and chef raekwon......these 2 cds are way 2 close too judge but if u don't really know bcc yud go with blackmoon's enta da stage but when u hear the cds more and more da shinin is just a masterpiece..... anyway back in the day b4 Eminem was signed there was a rumour that he was gonna sign with the Boot Camp Click but that lil manager dru ha was afraid that a white rapper would be a mistake so dre came in and snatched him up .. now i know em's huge now but just imagine what if Eminem along side of Buckshot Heltah Skeltah Smiff & Wessun and tha OGC's DAMN!  cold as ice
