That shows he's not contractually signed to KOCH anymore, whats stopping him signing with Snoop or Capitol? Its Over was a huge success, which was his last official album. He could still push major units.
-
his next album will be release on DoggyStyle I think

He did a 1 album deal with Doggystyle/Koch for the Dogg Pound record and he is doing the same with Snoop again this year for his solo.

CIA was on doggystyle?
did space boogie go gold?

Yeah it was on Doggystyle. The way Daz and Kurupt explained it on the last dubcnn interview was that the indie records they would do on DPG Recordz all the major records would go through Doggystyle/Koch. That was for DPG and Kurupt is doing the same for his solo stuff. I think Space Boogie did around 400k.
-
isn't koch indie too?
what happened to doggystyle/tvt????
if space boogie went 400k (wood?maybe copper?) then I wouldn't call it's over a huge success. dre's a punk for not giving kurupt an original track for streetz (oh i'll just redo my vocal part and release my album with the same song on the same day) If not for 2001/2001 having the same dre track that dre gave kurupt, Streetz would have gone plat.Girls all pause and who ride wit us were huuuuge. a 3rd single, a dre single, would have cemented that shit. did streetz have a 3rd single? trylogy or some shit right? yeah not exactly a dre club banger.

streetz was a classic album

that always bothers me. kurupt was all over 2001 and couldn't get 1 beat in return?
-
no one's saying streetz wasn't classic (i say dogg food quality). but it could have been more commercially succesful if dre could have kicked rup down with a 2001 outtake or something.Hittman in his dubcnn interview said you can make a BANGING ass 5 disc compilation of shit that was dropped from 2001...fuck detox, i'm sure that shit would have a lot more of what we're looking for.

It was Dogghouse/TVT because Suge owned the name Doggystyle so he named it Dogghouse Records. Koch is one of the bigger indie distributors but yeah at the end of the day it is a indie. Snoop had a deal with MCA Records for a little bit for the label. 400,000 only 100,000 or so from gold. Streetz went gold but yeah another single and it could have went platinum. Same with Space Boogie IMO.
-
i don't think a single anything short of a dre produced track along the lines of girls all pause would have taken space boogie from 400k to 1 mil. streetz had mad buzz though, lot of snoop, some dre, all the dpg and dpg producers, krs one, girls all pause, who ride wit us....that album is the most Kurupt will ever have going on again...if dre would have given him an original single, woulda gone plat.
why do you think space boogie could have gone plat? maybe if the right songs off that bitch were released. -T

That Sunshine song he had with Jon B would have been a club banger if he would have released it as a single. That alone would have got him gold. Limp Bizkit was big at the time and he had Fred Durst on the album and that would have moved some units and the Quik song was nice too. You got to drop at least 2 to 3 singles to give yourself the chance to go plat. Only a certain amount of artists can drop 1 single and go platinum.

Sunshine was a single
-
I heard it a couple of times on the radio but I did not know it was a single. They should have done a video for it.
-
the quik song woulda been nice, you're right. hm, fuck labels. they need to support their artists.

Kurupt for those 2 albums was 1 or 2 singles away from blowing up big on not only the west but nationwide. I talk to some people in other states especially on the east coast and half of them do not even though these albums. They just think he had Dogg Food out and that is it. Kuruption is in the same situation too.
-
fuck kuruption though. should replace housewife with ask yourself a question and call it a day.

You're an extra cool cat so don't take this the wrong way but....you serious dogg?

Yep. Last I heard he did 3 tracks for it.
-
this is the doggystyle kurupt album?
i used to get excited whenever i hear of a dre trained producer producing old dre proteges. I used to think it would recreate the sound, but it does and it doesn't. It will have the sound but dre trained producers never coax as good of a performance out of the artists as dre himself does. well....maybe storch?
and wasn't joe montana a character used on kuruption or something?

Dre didnt trained Scott Storch...Scott was already talented and making great beats before being with dre, and if i remember Scott Storch was a member of the Roots

Yeah he said so far he has Mel-Man and Fred Wreck on the beats. In my opinion 3 producers bring the best out of Kurupt. Fred, Daz, and Soopafly at this moment. Dr. Dre also but he has not worked with him since Kuruption.
-
so what do you guys think about the weather? its awful cold out here
-
its probably some legal bs...who knows how many people have rights to kurupts name...not to mention all the kurupt tracks suge knight has....including all the dpg diss songs from kurupt that would shake peoples asses if suge or koch would release them
-

how was "its over" a huge success? ??? and kurupt NEVER pushed major units...what are you talking about man?...
-
The main thing is he isnt signed to Suge or Koch still. So I am hoping he can hook back up with Snoop, and do another album like Space Boogie!
-
Kurupts paperwork is funny
His album same day different shit , the booklet says all songs written by D Williams (Roscoe) D Arnaud (Daz) I Johnson (ivan johnson producer).
We all know producers get writers credit thats why daz and ivan are there, i dont doubt that kurupt wrote the album so i dont see why its listed as roscoe. The same thing is lsted on Dillinger and young gotti 2 with the publishing going to scoodie mac (roscoe) and the lyrics again listed as roscoe, daz and ivan
-

oh yeah...i wish...just get fred wreck to produce his whole album...that would be dope.
-
he isnt listed as signed to anyone in the carter 2 booklet neither, nor is it listed in the like father like son booklet

Back when that song came out it used to be on tv 24/7 and to date it is atill the only Kurupt track I have EVER seen on Dutch television. EVER.

nor is he listed as signed to anyone on doctor's advocate booklet.
to sum up, looks like kurupt doesnt have a record deal currently.

Scott wasn´t making beats before he hooked up with Dre. and he was a keyboard player in the Roots.
-
yeah he was the keyboard player for the roots, but he really has lifted a lot of dre's sound in his solo production, which I'm not criticizing.

Yeah I remember in a interview I think it was with Styles they asked him about that and I think it was for money to go to Roscoe so they probably worked out a deal.
-
Your right, I remember this interview too...
