it is not a classic album. Its really dope, but nowhere near classic. A few skippable songs, and a few that really are not great, but not bad.
Who Ride Wit Us = One of the best dpg songs, same with Streetz is a Mutha
Dogg Food>RR&GB>Dillinger and Young Gotti>Dogg Pound 2002>Streetz is a Mutha=Raw
-
I think Streetz is a Mutha is WAY better than Dillinger & Young Gotti, but to each their own.

I agree with that. DP2002 is old tracks that appear on Raw and D&YG. But Every Single Day and Smoke are dope. So for me SIAM>DP2002. D&YG is hella dope too but I thought Kurupt's rhymes were a little sharper on SIAM.

on point, it's a good west coast rap album, but it's not a classic
-
Its a dope album. It's not what some would consider a traditional classic album, but it can be considered a westcoast classic just because its one of the best records to ever come out of the west since Pac passed.

I can agree with that

Maybe not a overall "rap classic" but i think its a Westcoast classic, if youre a westcoast fan you should def peep this album.

Fuck you!

Dogg Food is tight, but your list backwards for everything else. Streetz is a Mutha is easily Kurupts best release, and easily DPG's best solo release. Anything from DPG in the last 4 years has been aweful, absolutely aweful, and these new tracks like "1 n 1", "Vibe" etc. are also aweful. DPG needs good production to sound even decent, their getting shitty beats, therefore, they are making shitty songs. The inconsistancy between Cali iz Active and almost every other track they've done proves this, good beat = good song. DPG releasing garbage for the last 4 years.
-
It's a westcoast classic and borderline classic album overall 4.5/5. Kurupt kills almost every track, this was where he lyrically peaked

uhh, what are u talking about? I didn't have one album by dpg in the past 5 years in my list. the ones I listed are the only ones I really like, maybe add space boogie.
-
i agree
the album is good but its not really a classic .... people overrate it for the simple reason it was basically the first dpg reunion album....there are def some average and skippable tracks on it....but people loved them for the reason i mentioned
-
It's a classic imo, I love that album, but to one his own

funny that i just put it on my computer again, i listened to it, and again im amzed by kurupt's mic skills, beats are on point too, its just a nice album, one u wont encounter much, which u can listen through without skipping any track, but that just imo...only track i dont think really fits is with KRS-One, i htink its a weak track, but yeah, its not that bad either...

I've listened to the album once and I didn't really like it.I should give it a more profound listen, but I highly doubt it that it will be better than RR&GB for me.That album is a Westcoast classic in my book
-
I always thought Streerz Is a Mutha was hella overrated around here too. To me, it's not really all that, it's pretty average. Saying Kurupt lyrically peaked on it is bullshit, that happened before. Remember, this was the classic-for-the-wrong-reasons "Shut the fuck up bitch, eat a dick bitch, eat a bowl of shit bitch, munch on a mouthful of balls in malls, just shut the fuck bitch and work your jaws." -album.

LMAO....he did have a lot of his typical babble on here. I donno if he "peaked" per say...but he didn't really start to fall off with rappin period til about 2-3 years later, and he's been dope on a few songs here n there since then. I would say his overall aggression and mic presence were at a peak at that point though...lyrics were better on Dogg Food, but he didn't have that same fire in his voice that he had on "I call shots" "Trylogy" or even "Callin out names"...where his energy and flow were just murderous. He sounded a LOT more laid back on Dogg Food.

I love how on dubcc, whenever somebody makes a thread like this, so many people suddenly agree, when usually when asked about Streetz Iz A Mutha everybody would be praising it... I duno to me it's one of my all time favorites, for whatever reason, most definitely a West Coast classic...
-
for me streetz iz a mutha is the best Young Gotti record & its a West COast classic.
-
Kurupt's only classic album is SPACE BOOGIE, with It's Over!

same here, its definately a classic, like i said, only song that is *out of place* is the one with KRS, but even that one isnt bad or something, i just dont dig KRS-One his style...thats all

Yeah
These CLOWNS are HATERS

not a classic, but a good record from the west coast. couldnt even say a west coast classic, cos then its categorizing it with doggystyle, chronic, etc. pretty good record, but theres definitely a few skippables on there. but like R-tistic said, it was kurupt as his prime in terms of his aggression and presence.

well calling it a westcoast classic ain't really directly categorizing it with doggystyle & chronic, cause them are not just westcoast classics, their hip-hop classics. So I think it's alright to call streets is a mutha a westcoast classic, just not on that level of doggystyle & chronic.

For the record, Kurupt was far from his prime in 1999. I think it's official Kurupt fell off with the "You're more of a bitch than a bitch" line off of "Xxplosive" which was around the time of Streetz iz a mutha (in '99)

I wouldn't call it a classic. But it is a very good album.

Album is Classic and one of my all time favorites in my opinion. But if you think about it nobody can tell you what classic is everyone has a different opinion on what classic is so Let it Go . 8) 8) 8)

I would never consider the streetz iz a mutha a classic. But it was a really good album at the time. Pure gangsta, real as fuck.
-
LOL@ Dogg Pound 2002 (A cd put together by Suge of Old Dogg Pound Tracks) being better then Streetz..
Streetz is the best thing Kurupt or Daz have done since Dogg food..

Yup I couldnt agree more. Streetz is a westcoast classic IMO.
-
that 2002 dogg pound album is pretty bad. you'd have to be on some serious shit to consider that better then streets is a mutha.

If I remember it correctly, they dropped on the excact same date...
Tha Streetz is a great album, but imho Tha Streets = Space Boogie... SB got superior production, but Tha Streets is better lyrically, plus it didn't have It's Over on it
