Well, thank his nephew who said to the Fresh Prince, “Uncle Will, I’m 17, you’re 37… let me do the rapping.” Albiet critically, ten years too late, Big Willie will now finally focus all his efforts on bad movies and Jada.
Surely this decision was made after Lost & Found dropped. It went Gold but coming off Platinum sales with Jazzy Jeff and Will’s first couple of solo albums [plus blockbuster movies] it probably seemed like more of a failure than it was.
It’s a shame Will didn’t utilise his movie career to sell his records like he did with Big Willie Style and Willennium. What I like to call the Bryan Adams Effect could’ve saved his last couple of LPs.
He tried it with Black Suits Comin’ (Nod Ya Head) and the iffy Men In Black II but should have coupled a hit with the success of Ali the movie. Like instead of How the Beat Goes it should have been How To Beat Foes. Or in 2005 he changed the single Switch to Hitch.

Is this supposed to be humorous?

Em stans hate on Will too much. The guy did a lot for bridging rap witht he other fields on entertainment. Without him, you're favorite rapper wouldn't get cast in a big budget film only to ruin it with crappy ass acting.

Source?

i heard will's last cd was actually dope...

Yeah, Will Smith Is a Legend In Rap, Love him or hate him.... You know you were singing along to some of his tunes back in the day too...Wild Wild West, Summertime, Parents dont understand

Shit, Gettin Jiggy Wit It was the jam at the high school dances, I won't front.
I liked Will early on in his career as The Fresh Prince - I still love that joint where they flipped the I dream of Genie track, his show and his movies.
But I think when he did a bunch of more serious movies, he came off hella corny. And his music got cornier and cornier.
But I lost a lot of respect for him when he bagged on rappers for cussing in their raps. He's cussed in movies, he's shot people in movies, he's killed people in movies.

I've never had anything against Will. He's had his fair share of dope music (solo, can't comment on the stuff with Jazzy Jeff)."Just Cruisin'" is a favourite of mine since I can remember.
-
Just because Will isnt a hardcore gangsta rapper, doesnt mean he's a bad rapper. He had some really dope songs. But judging by your avator, you're the type of person that gets a boner from 50 cent.
-

dude is coo. fuck that 37 bullshit. i'm tired of hearing that shit. how come rock artists can rock forever and ever and rappers have a limit? That says something un artistic about the art form.you should do your art as long as you're inspired to do your art. if he wants to stop rapping, cool but don't give me that 37 bullshit. it's ideas like that that disallow alot of mainstream society from perceiving rap as an art.

You can't hate on Will Smith.
Dude was around from the start (well not the start, but earlier than most would think).
-
I remember girls in the world ain't nothing but trouble coming out way back in '87. Will is a legend in hip hop without a doubt. His success opened the doors for a lot of other people.

as a MC i like Em more but i give Will his props for his musical career and all his other great success.
-
Should the man who made "Summertime" quit? I dont think so. Just talk about more mature subjects. I dont dont wanna hear him talking about selling dope and shootin' fools.
-
I dont think he should quit cuz he still makes some decent music...actually better than some of the shit out on the radio or what u see on bet..also Will was one of the few hip hop acts that tried to be himself and not be all gangsta out or anythin like which I respect the most
