I think it's bad when anybody is injured for the entire season....but Tony Allen's injury has to be the dumbest injury I've ever seen happen in my life...yes, it even passes the field goal kicker who hit the field goal and twisted his ankle from jumping around celebrating.
For those that didn't see it....last night, the Celtics played somebody, and Tony Allen was driving to the basket. He got fouled when he was driving, and the whistle blew...but he continued to drive to the basket afterwards, and went up for a hard ass dunk, which he missed..then landed terribly and tore two ligaments in his knee. He got fouled around the top of the key, so he definitely didn't have to continue with the play...but I guess he was feelin himself too much.

Yeah heard about this earlier. It's fucked up but funny at the same time. Let this be a lesson to everyone. Once the play is whistled dead don't fuck around cus you might get hurt.
-
I might place TJ Ginn's injury up there too....because he got hurt after scoring that run back touchdown, and having everybody jump on him.
-
yup the injury happened against Indiana, I watched the game, you could tell his season was over as soon as he went down
-
Yeah, I caught that on PTI today. I went to college with Tony and he definitely wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer.
-
Somebody please explain to me why the fuck he did that? I mean they called the foul, they were about to give him 2 free-throws, but nooooo he just had to fuckin dunk it. Ended his season for 2 points that weren't going to count in the first place.
Boston is cursed.

I watched every one of his home games live @ courtside in college. Tony Allen consistently does mind blowingly stupid shit all the time. He's a hell of an athlete, good slasher and good defender. But he does dumb shit all the time. When I saw this today, I laughed my ass off because it didn't surprise me at all. It's right up his alley.

Just random ass shit. We'd be in situations where we were trying to burn clock and he'd get a pass and he'd pull up for a J w/ 20 seconds on the clock. He'd showboat dunks and blow them in close games. His shoes were always flying off. People used to hold up signs telling him to tie his shoes.
And you could just tell at certain stretches of games his head wasn't in it. Eddie Sutton was our coach and was notorious for a quick hook if you fucked up. Towards the end of his career at OSU he would fuck up, know he had fucked up and just make his way toward the bench and start untucking his shirt cuz he knew he was gonna get pulled. Coach Sutton wouldn't even say anything to him, just screwface him. It was hilarious.

No, I wouldn't say that. Of course everybody knew who he was an shit but he wasn't overly arrogant - not nearly as much as some athletes that were a lot less known, lol. He would crack me up though, he always wore those Strength shoes to class - rain or snow.

Video up on you tube now. Just search tony allen and its right near the top. Whistle blew at the 3 point line and to top it off, he missed the dunk. :grumpy:

Allen undergoes surgery (http://www.boston.com/sports/basketball/celtics/articles/2007/01/14/a_sign_from_on_high/)

Tony Allen underwent successful reconstructive knee surgery yesterday at New England Baptist Hospital, repairing a torn ACL and cartilage damage in his left knee. Team physician Brian McKeon performed the operation, assisted by Dr. Paul Weitzel.
Allen, who turned 25 Thursday, will miss the remainder of the season.
Typically, it takes at least six months to recover from ACL tears, though it likely will take Allen longer. It was not until December that the third-year guard felt fully recovered from right knee surgery he had in September 2005 to repair torn cartilage.
Allen appeared in 33 games this season, averaging 11.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.48 steals. Earning ever-increasing playing time because of injuries to other players, he set or tied career highs in 12 statistical categories.
"Tony had a good surgery," said Rivers. "They said they were really happy with everything. His spirits were pretty much up. I haven't talked to him, so that's going by the doctor, but that's good."
