Kanye West is hard at work on his next album, "Graduation," tentatively due in late 2007 via Def Jam. The artist tells Billboard the likely first single from the album will be "Homecoming" featuring Coldplay's Chris Martin, who recently guested on a track from Jay-Z's comeback album, "Kingdom Come."
One collaborator from West's 2005 album "Late Registration" who will be returning for "Graduation" is multi-instrumentalist Jon Brion.
"We'll be working together again on the new project," West promises. "Jon wasn't just a producer -- he was such a good friend and a great person to bounce ideas off of in the studio. It was the whole experience."
West has also been busy behind the boards, having recently produced tracks for Nas' "Hip-Hop Is Dead" and the Game's "Doctor's Advocate." And, as previously reported, the artist will soon be featured in an HBO series "loosely based" on his life. "Curb Your Enthusiasm" mastermind Larry Charles will executive produce.

what did chris martin do on jay's album?
coldplay is an amazing band but their music reminds me of laying on a floor depressed in a heroin induced haze.

This collabo might come out nice. I like the song he did with Jiggaboo. Since Kanye, love him or hate him, is 10x better than Jay, their work should come out nice.

He produced and laid vocals on the song "Beach Chair."
This collabo should be cool. Kanye's albums have always been different, and I like Coldplay's music too.

Not a huge fan of Chris Martin or Coldplay, but I'm coppin Kanye regardless. He laced the illest beat on Hip Hop is Dead.

i thought he said he'll lay low for a year?

Kanye couldn't stay out of the spotlight even if he wanted to. He almost died in a car wreck and the muthafucka had to do a song not too long after.

about the car wreck?

i used to agree with that kind of thing, but from a purely darwinistic/self preservationist mentality.....you gotta get it while the gettin's good. you wait too long and you will be no one....look at anyone with talent that we like that's had a hit, their immense talent didn't help them get remembered any more than the other talentless one hit wonders...didn't Jayo felony have a couple substantial hits? and doesn't he now have nothin'?

kanye's had more than a couple substantial hits... plus he said that when he was heavily talked about with the whole MTV awards shiit.

yeah he recorded it shortly after leaving hospital with his mouth wired shut. Its called "through the wire", that song basically introduced kanye to the masses, great track.

Oh shit, I heard that song. that was a crazy sample. was the song about the car accident? he called it that cause he wrote it through the wire? is that what prompted him to start recording his own rap shit or what? cause wasn't he just a roc afella producer before all that? like on roc la familia and shit?

yeah most of the song is about the accident, what happened and what happened afterwards. its called through the wire coz thats how he was rapping the track.
Yeah he was just an in house producer .
Before kanye joined roca fella though he used to rap over his own beats but basically he got picked up by rocafella when he did a beat for beanie sigel. He then worked on jay z's blueprint. It wasnt till a while later rocafella realised he rapped. I think dame dash was the one who finally listened to him rap and started to push the album kanye was working on.

That Song "Last Call" On College Droput, Pretty Much Tells His Whole Life Story. Good Track

I've been saying the same thing for years. The music of bands like Coldplay and Muse just give me a vibe that anyone listening to it should grab a rope and hang themselves on a fucking high tree. It's amazing to see they still have so many fans alive, yet I wonder what the death count is. I mean, listen to Clocks, that's pure suicide music.
I'm telling you maaaan, there's a purpose behind it! Getting all the nerds to kill themselves, its like a society cleanup!
-
rap can be seen as the same societal clean up if you wanna look at it that way...
but muse is like an overdramatic radiohead. i don't get anything out of muse that i don't get better from radiohead/thom yorke.
