U.S. Wrestlers Get Warm Greeting in Iran
Wednesday, January 17, 2007
FoxNews.com
TEHRAN, Iran — U.S. wrestlers were welcomed to Iran on Tuesday with bouquets of pink and white flowers at a time of increasing tensions between the two countries.
The Americans, wearing jackets emblazoned with "USA Wrestling," were given the warm greeting by young girls in traditional Iranian dresses at an airport in the southern city of Bandar Abbas.
The 14 wrestlers are to participate Thursday and Friday in the Persian Gulf Cup, also known as the Takhti Cup, the top wrestling tournament in Iran, where the sport has been a national obsession for centuries.
In a small — but, for Iranians, significant — goodwill gesture, the American wrestlers were exempted from having their fingerprints taken as they entered the country. Iran imposed the fingerprint requirement on Americans after the U.S. imposed a similar rule on visiting Iranians. In 2003, Iran boycotted the world freestyle wrestling championships in New York because of the U.S. policy, seen as humiliating.
The U.S. freestyle wrestling team due to participate in this week's matches includes 2006 world silver medalist Mike Zadick, who wrestled for the University of Iowa, and 2005 U.S. world team member Andy Hrovat, who competed for the University of Michigan.
The U.S. team is made up of some members of the U.S. world team and the U.S. nationals champions. It is coached by Terry Brands, a two-time world champion and 2000 Olympic bronze medalist. The U.S. delegation is made up of 14 athletes and seven officials.
This will be the sixth time a U.S. team has competed in the Takhti Cup (1998, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2007). The U.S. also competed at the 1998 World Championships held in Tehran, Iran.

No actually its the opposite, your people are finally starting to accomplish something.

You guys have such low self esteem that you cant stand hearing someone else being better and stronger. lol
A real man pays respect when its due, but a punk denies it even when you throw it in their face.

I went to college with Mo Lawal.  He's from Oklahoma State who currently has 34 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS in wrestling.   I kicked it with Mo a few times.  That guy is an animal.

Football athletes don't waste their time in those sports because they don't need to. It'll take away time from their sports career which they already make a lot of money in. It's the same with world class sprinters. I bet there are some mothafuckas in football that could beat the world record in some sprints. And LOL at you calling it a low IQ sport and now a "mans" sport. If you compare both soccer and football you'd see football is a lot more complicated and has different systems to play with. You really are one fucking retard. And a real man's sport is when you risk injury in every play you're in. You're wasting your time on here, go put on your wet turban you left outside hanging and check if it has an bullet-holes. Stupid Iranian

Obviously you know nothing about soccer if you think they dont risk injury....dont even begin to compare football and futbol

90 min. NON-STOP vs. 60 min. FULL of stops  ::)

^^^ That in itself prevents me from going into further details.  ;)

Doggy you're a moron. Them Taliban gotta stop bombing those schools cuz you obviously don't sound to smart. There's a lot more injuries in football than soccer. Even European Soccer fans know that shit. Football players get hit in every play, soccer players don't. I played both sports so don't tell me I don't know wasup.

Like i said, rugby is more dangerous than football, they dont even use protective gear.

The same tactics you talk about in football is way more complicated in soccer and they dont need to stop the game and take time outs every 30 seconds to talk about it.  Thats why YOU'RE the moron for not understanding that.

The same 50 yard pass that gets oohs and aaahs happen every second in soccer and its way harder cuz you control it with your foot and not hugging in your arms.   NOt to forget how much easier the football ball glides through the air, rather than a soccer ball that is round.

You  wanna talk about injuries, how bout clashing head to head in the air? with no helmets!
How bout someone running into your knee or foot instead of the ball??

You think its tough knocking someone down while their running?? Is that supposed to show strength?? LOOOL

So you think football players are faster than soccer players??  Even funnier....

ANOTHER FACT TO SHUT YOU THE FUCK UP....Football players play a maximum of 17 GAMES/ YEAR while professional soccer players play up to 120 GAMES/YEAR.

Man there is soooo much, i dont even know where to begin. looooooooool

NOT COMPARABLE HOMIE, GIVE IT UP!

1. The same tactics you talk about in football is way more complicated in soccer and they dont need to stop the game and take time outs every 30 seconds to talk about it.  Thats why YOU'RE the moron for not understanding that.

2. The same 50 yard pass that gets oohs and aaahs happen every second in soccer and its way harder cuz you control it with your foot and not hugging in your arms.   NOt to forget how much easier the football ball glides through the air, rather than a soccer ball that is round.

Man there is soooo much, i dont even know where to begin. looooooooool

NOT COMPARABLE HOMIE, GIVE IT UP!

1. Footballs plays is like a chess match but with muscle and speed. Those plays are made by geniuses and take time to develop. If you don't understand why they need time to start every play than you're a fucking moron.

2. You don't catch a soccer ball 50 yards in the air with your foot. The ball bounces on the ground and then you recover. Don't tell me that's harder to do than catching a ball 10 feet in the air with your hands while someone is trying to knock it down.

3. I can guarantee your taliban ass that there are more injuries in one football game than there are in 5 soccer matches.

4. Watch some lineman block before you speak dumb fuck.

5. Yes dumbass. These football players were track stars in their high school days and they're so much faster than skinny little soccer players.

6. Football teams need a week to recover from injuries and soreness. If they played everyday they wouldn't make it past 30 years old.

Stop comparing Football to soccer. Everybody on this forum knows Football is a much tougher sport than soccer.

Yeah that's your opinion and I'm not arguing that. I'm just saying Football is a more physical sport than soccer and there is no way in hell you can deny that unless you're ignorant, like Mr. Osama aka Iran is gangsta.

And i tried to play NFL Madden (?) 06 on ps2, and I didn't what to do with all those tactics and shit. lol
