I've heard this song a few times now, it's Kool G Rap with Roger Troutman all talk-boxed out on the hook. This is the first single off the new album from him, and I'm feeling it more and more each time. There is a video out for it on BET...anyone heard this song? Pretty tight.

Hey Incognito, that is Kool G Rap, not BDk. The song is called My Life, it is really, REALLY dope.
-
You're right, dam, I mixed those two up. Shit, lol. Thanks

;D ;D ;D
this track is illness.
-
aint it
-
Track is hella dope. G Rap is mos def one of my favorite rappers.
-
this is tight 4 sure

How did Roger Troutman do the talkbox on the hook for this song when he's dead or did he use a sample of another song. I thought it was someone else doing it.
Yo how does the talkbox work and what equipment would you need.
The track is hot. Too bad his album won't be out until february. Just don't understand why he has a single out now yet his album won't be out until february.

With the talk-box, you put this tube in your mouth and sing into it. You control the sounds with this keyboard. It's ill, Roger Troutman has it in his mouth for the "California Love" video and I've seen Teddy Riley use it too.

dj quik has used it too
i like the song alot, it was on one of the AND1 mixtape basketball comercials and i thought it was a dj quik song , speaking of which have you noticed how alot of east coast rappers are incorperating westcoast style into their stuff
jay-z -with the izzle thing (regardless if e-40 or snoop "coined" it it's still westcoast)
Faith Evens- even though she's not a rapper, but she's got low riders and battlecat on the beat
MOP-in their cold as ice video they got low riders and pit bulls up in there
puffy-snoop/cube/xzibit/shaq/lakers jersey's
plus a ALOT more when i watch rap city, i'm not saying it's bad but, dang, i thought we quote unquote "ruined" rap, lol, i guess this proves not
-
Yeah Jake, Quik learned how to play the talk box from Roger. On "Balance + Options," Q did a whole song with just the talk box, dedicated to him...awesome song.
"And I promise Mr. Troutmaaan/To keep the talk box aliiiiiive."

Yup, Quik will tell you that himself on "U Aint Fresh!"
"Mr Troutman taught me Talkbox 'Do Wa Ditty'/ And I'll tell you to your ear 'nigga you sound shitty'"
"Do Wa Ditty"... that's the same Zapp & Roger song they sampled on that Snoop song "Do You Wanna Roll"

Yeah I noticed the same thing, and the funny thing is that alot of eastcoast fans are still biased to the west......yet they can't see that tracks like change the game, and other joints from the roc are west coast influenced.
It's time for peeps to give the west their props.
