" What Happen To The Game & Doctor’s Advocate ?

A few months ago dude was more cocky than Kanye West. He claimed he was going to sell a million his first week and warned Jay-Z to push his album back. The album was released November 14th and has yet to go platinum with about 790,000 records sold. I have no doubt the album will go platinum very soon, with his next video, “Wouldn’t Get Far,” featuring Kanye West to be released January 31st. But going platinum isn’t enough for a rapper with The Game’s status and comments. It doesn’t look like Doctor’s Advocate will live up to his first album, “The Documentry” which sold 2.3 million records in the U.S. So what is the reason for the lack of sales??? Personally I think he had a horrible choice of singles and I can’t believe he didn’t release, “Why You Hate The Game,” as a single. "

This is what happens when people download everything. People dont buy shit. Which is fuckin wack.
That album is way better then the first, But nobody can sell any more, it's all downloaded.

Buy the records, fuck the freeshit. 8)

Even 50 can flop in today's climate. The funny shit about Game and 50 is that they act like they have influence on so many people buying their albums. If you base success off of numbers then what do you have left when you sell less. And believe me you are going to sell less. All the hype you put into selling the album for sales purposes is going to cloud the actual quality of the album. If there is any quality to begin with.

the more you hype it, the more people will be jumpin' to download it.

game will go plat. and even though I dislike 50, i give him props that he's aware that they may happen to him, thus the title of the LP.

"Why You Hate The Game" is damn near 8 minutes... in the days of the 12" Vinyl that might have been released as a single.. I remember Roger & Zapp 12" Vinyls that had 10 minute "Grapevine" versions back when I was a kid... but today? Not a chance...

The next single will either be Too Much with Nate Dogg or Around the World with Jamie Foxx.

Of course they won't play 8 minutes of the song. There are a lotta singles that are like 5 and 6 min long, but on TV and radio, they only play 3.5-4 min.

I say Compton should be his 3rd single.

times are hard. on top of DLing illegally, you can DL legally, like at Sam Goody or iPod, and buy songs. iPods are selling more, and people are DLing off iTunes now, instead of getting those soundscans numbers up in the local store. So it's many things that contributed to lower sales.

true...and thats the whole thing... that song was made to be an 8 minuter... I can't picture a 3 minute version... thats a grand finale' song.

Back in the 70s, a gold record was a prized thing. Anything high just didn't happen. It wasn't until the early 90s that platinum was what record companies started to strive for because that is the only way they make money. Any artist will tell you that the REAL money is made doing shows, not from album sales. Sales only helps the artist get their name out and recoup the money that was spent making the the album.

word, most artists are performative or demonstrative in some sense with or without albums, records, or even books.+1

plus music in general these days are just not that good as it used to be...hiphop, r&b, rock, etc...if you put out a wack product, it deserves to get flopped.

there's always beena  grip of whack music, it just always feels like the past is better because all you remember from the past is the good shit because most garbage music is unmemorable.
