Man to me this is the best usage of the "More Bounce To The Ounce" sample. "Tha Dogg Pound Gangsta", "Respect Your O.G's", "[Forgotten SCC song]", "You Gots To Chill" were all great, but this shit in particular was funky and phat as hell. What do you think?
-
its ok
-
fat?
-
It's alright. The lyrics were boarder line corny. I remember when the song came out my friend was like "Biggie is really sucking up to the west coast so they won't kill him." If we only knew...
-
I can't listen to this song with a straight face.
"If I got to choose a coast I got to choose the east/I live out there so don't.........go there"
LOL, but then again, I can't listen to many of his songs without laughing.
-
me and my homie use to o back and forth with the hook; i would be like im goin goin, he would do the back back, to cali cali, then we would switch it up it was funny but i never really liked that song but my homie loved it
-
Love the track! It was a risky track for him to do, and I remember at the time, everyone thought it was gonna be on some "fuck Cali' shit, but he kept it respectful. I also think Easy Mo Bee used one of the best interpolations of "More Bounce" ever in rap.

Thanks for sharing that gay little story.

Classic to me!
-
I think it's a dope record and Eazy Mo Bee killed it.

So he sings along with his friend and now he's gay??
Lame.
Singing along with your homies is the shit.
-
song is kinda weak, catchy hook though
-
YGD top dogg goin back to cali is 100x better. couldnt stop bumpin that ship when it came out
-
I love this song.. fun track to play in the car.

I kinda thought it was a lil bit gay LOL
-
shit is bangin
-
yea I like the beat a lot
not a huge Biggie fan tho, he sounds and looks like Jabba the Hut, sounds like he's holding back spit while he talks and raps
-
Good song but "You Gots To Chill" beat is much better.
-

LMFAO!
-
Heavy D's "More Bounce" version kills it lyrically and the beat has more energy...
-
yeah the best use of More bounce
-
Classic to me!
-
I always liked SCC's Servin Em Heat usage of the Bounce sample, slowed down and lots of bass...
-
^ thats an excellent version too!
That track is a good blend between More Bounce & Genius Of Love...
-
Biggie is classic, I didn't know there were people that didn't think he was dope here. That's cool, I respect that I'm just surprised.
-T
-
i hate the intro

-
dope song.//// biggie was dope as fuck... if he only knew goin back to cali was not a good idea
-
It's a good song, the beat is tiiiiight 8)
-
Since we are on the topic of Biggie to be honest not trying to hate or anything so dont take what im bout to say the wrong way. but Him going back to Cali was the dumbest thing he could have ever done. I mean how in the hell are you going to go back to a place where everybody thinks that you are responsible for the death of 2pac and expect to just walk around like nothing happened, he should have known better.
-
It's classic, but is it really more bounce, or just a zapp sounding beat? Epmd wrecked it tho.
-
i know its disrespectful. but every time i hear that song i think. im getting getting shot shot in cali. ;D
-
Its Aight But To Me EPMD Did The Best
-
i hate the intro
Me too. They should've at least put the intro skit on another track so you could skip it easily.
Song is dope though. Excellent use of the sample on the beat.

Laylaw flipped the sample way better in the "What Can I Do" remix by Ice Cube, IMO.
-
REMEMBER ICE CUBE'S "HOW TO SURVIVE IN SOUTH CENTRAL"? THAT SHIT WAS TIGHT TOO
-
how to survive in south central was dope, but was an interpollation of "So Rough, So Tough" and not "More Bounce"
-
The best was L.L.'s version...nobody ever though Biggie himself was responsible for Pac's death. More people woulda have though Suge over Big. Big wasn't a boss.
-
the song is enjoyable. a classic b/c it was a huge anthem, but if you really look at it and compare it to what alot of us heads consider classics it ain't that amazing or groundbreaking.
-
I mean it was a risky move at the time, and that's why alot of people hold this track in classic regards, simply because he had the balls to do it.
It might have gotten him killed in the end.

I remember seeing a promo for sale in some record store before it came out and reading the title and buying it b/c I wanted to hear what he had to say. Like I was kinda shocked that he even had a song with the name Cali in it b/c the whole East/West thing was big at the time.
buying a record without listening to it first b/c you had to hear what that person had to say. that's hip hop.

one of my favourites on LAD

Too bad those days are gone now. What with 80% of the albums tracks being leaked ahead of time.

I still go out to record stores all the time to cop new shit. And I'll buy shit that I haven't heard before. Those days arent completely gone.
But I understand what you sayin. Before that was the norm. hip hop wasnt so visible in the mainstream yet and technology wasnt there yet. you were forced to buy shit if you wanted to be on top of shit.

^^^ True, true.
-
one of my favorite songs..... lol @ people hating on biggy.... he had skills..... dont hate just because they had beef with 2pac
I like the going back to cali version with snoop dogg (different beat)... I dont think too many people heard it on here
