I dont g-dubb gets the respect he deserves i think he's a better rapper than dre and he a pretty good producer the 213 album would have been better if G would have produced 2-3 songs and the twinz album was classic but then i read all these white people reviews on the net and you would think G is 60 years old or something
-
On this board Warren G gets TOO much props. In the real world, people know he only had one good album and after that he fell off. Dude has been nothing more than mediocre since his first album. But, for people who are stuck in the early to mid 90s, he's God. G-Funk is dead and has been dead.
-
athleticfan?
-
i don't think warren g gets the props he deserves. no doubt regulate was his best album (in all aspects), and yes his lyrical ability has declined since that album, but i love dudes style. he's so chilled & relaxed, and i can't get enough of it 8)
sometimes i think that dude can say ANYTHING, and make he'll make it sound dope.
-
Warren G is subpar these days. I can't say too much though. He makes more royalty money to this day from his one hit single from 93 than most people do a year.
-
he has one very dope album and the rest of his shit is not all that, but Regulate deserves all the praise it gets, prodiuction on there is top notch
-
Warren G is a Great Producer, he's Overrated for some, and underated for others, people dont check for him because the name Warren G is part of the 90's era, in my opinion he didnt lose his touch but people dont look for him because he didnt do much mainstream work, its like Easy Mo Bee who is a great producer, you will hear his production with underground artist but big artist wont look for him because he's not a mainstream producer anymore, Unless someone like Jay Z bring him back to the Spot light, in Warren G's case it would Be Snoops Job to bring him back to life and release more beats from him

Dude was a 1 hit (1 album) wonder...and I'm a Warren G fan.
I'm from NJ, and back when Return of the Regulator came out, I was in The Wiz electronics store. They had a stack of Warren's new CD and I saw people either snicker at the thought of a new Warren G album, or not even know who he was. They thought he must have been some new jack. True story.

I WANT IT ALL was a dope ass album... nearly as good as regulate
-
return of the regulator is almost in the same level as regulate, period
a lil too much useless skits, and maybe cut 1 or 2 tracks, but overall its really smooth production plus nice guest spots (butch cassidy, wc, kokane, mista grimm and george clinton...doesnt sound *average* to me)

Regulate- as good as chronic and doggystyle, their the holy trinity of west coast rap to me.
take a look(reality)-Banging album, not classic but has classic cuts.
I want it all-Near classic album, damn ruff ryder tracks
Return of the regulator-well well well done album, not addictive though
have not heard midnite hour yet.
but I firmly stand by what I said. warren g is my second favorite producer, comes always with the chillness, people are haters.

Chronic and Doggystyle are on a whole other level than Regulate, Regulate production wise is up there but the rhyming on there not that good, Kurupt and Snoop were beasting on Chronic and Doggystyle

man i always had lots of love for that nigga Warren but his last album In The Midnight Hour was fucking GARBAGE!! i was only feeling like 3 songs tops...
he needs to drop an album to redeem himself before i really give him props again
-
hes an og n tha game and i luv his music
but I THINK his nu album sucked.

I think warren had some dope rappers on regulate. I wouldn't have wanted Kurupt beasting on Regulate, to laid back of an album...some snoop would have been cool though, I'm pretty damn sure Warren wanted some snoop on it but the DR shit made it hard. But to me Nate dogg and the dove shack, the chick rapper...they're the rappers and warren's the dj, just like the chronic to dre.

Warren dropped 4 bangers in a row....the last joint was his worst but still solid
he has classics for days
-
Personal favourite.
Classic artist with classic material.

Return of the regulator was great fuckin album lookin at you was a fuckin masterpiece to me g funk is here to stay was classic west coast and w.c was solid when muthafuckas wasnt fucking with him i bet if that shit was mtv promoted the shit would have gone plat but warren is gonna get his when the west takes off again all kind of artist will fuck with him again i mean he's good composer he and jay-z composed the watcher on 2001 dre doesnt really fuck with g but when he does people will just say he's a true vet
-

In The Midnight Hour 6.5/10
Return of the Regulator 4/10
Haven't heard the other 2

Man alot of people not feeling Return Of The Regulator or In The Midnite Hour. ???
I guess. Warren is cool, lyrically he was never a top 5 rapper or anything but beats wise he is still one of the best.
-
yeah and he knows how to manke an album... a album... you know the cd flows well song 2 song ya know...

cannot believe so many peops are not feeling return of the regulator, that album is dopeness. young locs slow down is one of the best tracks warren has done imo.
to me in the midnite hour is mad over rated on this board. warren on pimped out sexed up shit is wack to me. muscially it was cool but the concepts and the writing was weak and not suited to dub. i'd love to hear another laid back story telling album. warren's got another classic in him imo cos he can come with something a little more reflective and not sound fake.
-
yes warren gets the props he deserves. most people i know who are casual listeners (not really familiar with everyone in the game) know who warren is and like him. what more can you ask for

I see as much hate on ITMNH as props. Other than Regulate, the opinion is all over the place with his records.
-
which is weird, cause I want it all sounds so much like regulate to me, thought people loved it.
damn I need to buy that record again, as well as all of warren's shit again...just remembered that daz/kurupt why oh why song...that shit is awesome.great headphone album.

-
I like all of his records. Producing wise I have not heard a wack beat from him IMO, so you know that aspect of the record you don't have to worry about. Lyrically, he is hit and miss.
-
Warren was one of the best producers in the game in my opinion until he dropped "In the Midnight Hour". It seems like he gave in to the industry and what was sounding popular instead of sticking to his own sound. As for the mic he needs to let that go unless he has someone else write his rhymes which I think is disrespectful to hip hop. From working with Snoop, Pac, Twinz, Dove Shack, Slick Rick (Behind Bars is the shit), Nate, Kurupt and so on he has always had head nodding beats. The problem is they have little replay value because his rhymes are so elementary and this sounds stupid but for me all his beats are solid and kind of make you not appreciate each one individually. I find myself bouncing from track to track because the music is that good.
-
he raps for the same reason dre raps, so people know who he is, otherwise I see him as a producer....what else can you say but he's dre's little brother.
-T
-
he probably doesn't get as much props cause of his rapping skills, even tho Dre isn't really a rapper he actually has a very good delivery, voice and flow if you check back to most of his songs, but Warren is dope he gets my props
-
I JUST SAW WARREN IN TRAFFIC THTS MY NIGGA RITE THERE!
-
Hah! That's ridiculously tight.

I feel Dre is a producer's Ren just like Warren G is a producer's Snoop as far as their rapping goes. I feel Warren G is as good at G Funk as Dre.
Meech, have you done more songs with warren g besides 'neva gonna give it up' for Kurupt on streetz iz a mutha?
