Title: The truth about MC Eiht
Post by: xquistqban on February 01, 2007, 08:38:35 PM
In all honesty, I dont know why Eiht is hated on in this forum.  The dude is not the greatest of all time, like westside159 says, but he is a solid veteran.  His song from the Menace 2 Society soundtrack is mind blowing.  It is a classic track in my opinion, and when i'm sad about something I play it.  I like eiht and I think he is pretty dope.  He has a unique style and is a good story teller.  You want pure westcoast story telling listen to "Str8 up Menace"  "Thicker Than Water" and "Hold Up".  Those three tracks are real dope.  They're sad songs about life in the hood.  MC Eiht is a solid veteran from the west.  Why doesn't he get props in this forum?

A lot of Eiht's work is amazing. Like Low Key said, people diss him becuase Westside159 goes so hard on his nuts that it's just a response. He fell the fuck off, but he was untouchable in his day.

Yep, We Come Strapped has to be an certified West Coast classic. The production is jaw -dropping and the musicianship is great, especially on "Compton Bomb". I'm so old school on that shit that my copy's on cassette. Now that's gangsta.

I never really listened to "Thicker than water" until over break, when I was just going through old CD's. That song was HOOOOT!!!

I don't know why, but he has been seen as a joke for the last 8 years or so. I don't know if it's because Quik went so hard on him, or because he wasn't pushin out dope product all the time...but most people you'll ask in L.A. will be like "MC Eiht?? Haha, he was dope but he's washed up". Candy did make a lil comeback for him though...everybody sings to his part.

MC Eiht definitely gets my props. Lyrically he isn't one of the best rapper I've heard but his unique gangsta style is hard to copy which makes him to separate from these average ass MCs.
