Ya, i said it, this album is the best west coast album since dre's 2001, no doubt about it! It is excellently produced, and i mean EXCELLENTLY produced. Warren G took his time, and came up with an album that is a masterpiece beats wise. It is incredibly consistent, the first album i can say i honestly love front to back since...Doggfather (i hope y'all don't distrust me now cuz i think Doggfather is a masterpiece).
Ya, the intro is bangin, the skits are kept to a minimum, the beats are dope on EVERY track, guest spots are all dope, especially Mista Grimm, who i think will finally blow up with the release of his next album with help from the G Child.
Plus, this album got a dope 213 track, George Clinton, a Dre beat, a tight Soopafly song, and the cd has a dope cover and title, one that brings all us older cats back to the glory days of the first Regulate cd. You may ask, what the hell does a cover and Title have to do with this cd being dope, but to me it just tops it all off.
Another thing...this is the first cd in a long time for me that has actually far surpassed my expectations, let alone met them. With LAst MEal and THe Wash, we were all hyped up only to be somewhat let down. No letdowns here. THis is why everyone that had heard this album is lovin it, even east coast heads. My boy Cliche on the SOHH board (he is actually from my hometown), he is a total underground east coast hip hopdude nowadays, hasn't been down with G Funk for a long time...even he is LOVING this shit, taking him back to the good old days when me and him was younger bumpin the first Regulate. Damn, me and him talked about this cd for at least an hour after we both listened to it ALL DAY, non stop. Even my girl loves this cd, and she is all about R&B shit, but she is feelin that Village song, plus Something to bounce to.
Well, as you can see i love this cd, and when it drops i will be the happiest guy on earth. By the way, i am not saying this cd does not have it's flaws. I woulda loved Dove Shack, The Twinz, and five footas on here, but i guess you can't have everything. And that one song Ain't nothin Wrong with YOu has an average beat and chorus, but thankfully it is saved by appearance from Mista Grimm and CPO.
Some will say Warren lacks dope lyrics and such, and you know what? He doesn't rip the mic like Xzibit or Canibus. Who cares! Some will say there are too many guests...and therea re a lot of guest appearances. But Warren is a producer first, he is like Dre in that way, and he brought out the best in all his guest. Warren has created the best album he could have, and if you like Warren G, you will LOVE this album. If you have ears, you will love this album!
So, what should i give this cd outta 5 mics. By my review, you would think i would give it 5 out of five....DAMN RIGHT!
Warren G- Return of the Regulator 5/5, 10/10, 100%

Yo... sup teecee
You were right this board looks cool... props on the review... it's on point... right now I'm rating Warren at 4.5.... but after more listening it could easily be a 5... i give the beats 12 outta 5... god damn best produced album i've heard in years....
Mista Grimm rips the hell out of every track he's on... that cat is smoooooooooth...
I was waiting for some G-Funk like this... leave it to the King Warren himself to deliver it...
I'd love a Mista Grimm album produced by Warren... that shit would be tight...
anyways.. whatup to all the heads on this board... y'all peep this album and cop it when it streets.

"I'm fully convinced(that),if music be not allowed to grow, if it's denied the privilege of evolution that all other arts and life have,if(in the)natural processes of ear and mind it is not allowed(to)grow bigger by finding possibilities that nature has for music, more and wider scales, new combinations of tone, new keys and more keys and beats, and phrases together- if it just sticks(as it does today) to one key,one single and easy rhythm, and the rules made to boss them- then music, before many years, cannot be composed, everything will be used up-
endless repetitions of static melodies,harmonies,resolutions,
and metres- and music as a creative art will die- for to compose will be but to manufacture conventionalized MUSH..."

Nope, sorry, thou I think album's nice, It isnt THAT GOOD
The album starts off great & after the first 4 songs I was like, DAMN, this shit might just top Regulate...G Funk Era, but the album goes downhill.
I'd give it an 8 out of 10, nice cd, nothing classic or MUST HAVE.
So far The Wash is Decent, but if I was going to buy 1 cd out of the 4 new released cd's (Jayo, Wash, Warren & Bones), it would be Warren G's
-
i dont think it is the best since 2001 .
-
I was VERY wasted when i wrote this review last night, but i stand by what i said mostly. I can't think of more well done album than this one in the last couple years. It is produced perfectly, no bad beats at all.
It may not be 5/5, but i will say it is 4.8/5. Of course yall won't agree with me, i am a fool for Warren G and real G Funk, i have been waiting a long time for a cd like this.
By the way, i am just interested, what do you think has been better in the last 2 years since Dre 2001.
I think: MAsta Ace- Disposable Arts is as good, Jay Z album Blueprint is excellent front to back, but i can't think of any other album lately as complete as Warren G's new album.....
-
the wash is better than new warren
-
the wash is better than new warren
LOL!!!
But Its your opinion...
-
The Wash is better.....ha ha ha ha ha ha....oh well, it is your opinion, wou are entitled to that, but i am entitled to laugh, ok?
-
ok... have u both heard the wash
i only heard 8 tracks off it so far but lets see
bad intentions
on the blvd
str8 westcoast
benefit of the doubt
the wash
those tracks are all really really tight... easily single quality
the warren g album is probably more solid the whole way through... but the good cuts on the wash easily out do the good cuts on return of the regulator
im feelin
lovin me now
lookin at you
village ghetto
the george clinton track
and the james debarge track
yo sassy ways is hot too
but those songs dont really compare to the songs i listed off the wash
besides i bet yall havent even heard the whole wash stdk yet
-
my favorite west coast albums since dre 2001 have been Chico & Coolwadda and Dillinger & Gotti. ive only heard the new G-Dub in real audio so far and its not standing up to those, except that one track Young Locs Slow Down, thats real dope. i gotta peep the album in mp3 tho.
-
Ant, why would you assume i haven't heard the Wash? I wouldn't say Warren is better if i hadn't heard both, know what i mean?
I like the Wash, the Snoop/Dre collabo's of course, Bad Intentions, St8 Westcoast, i feel the Bilal song ALOT, i like the Truth Hurts song, it is a really good album. But also a ltedown, know what i mean? Imagine if it had the rumored 5 Snoop/Dre tracks, Hittman, Rakim, etc. Still, it is very good, i just think it can't compare overall to Warren G's Retrun of the Regulator.
-
The Wash ain't seein Warren... it's alright... but it's like aftermath... some heat... and some weak stuff... not living up to expectations.
-
the biggest reason yall are saying warren is better is because your expectations for the wash were high and it wasnt as god as expected
thats what im noticin at least
either way im happy i got some new shit to listen to finally
between new MJ, wash, warren
-
I'm sayin Warren is better cause it's one of the top 3 albums of the year... Wash ain't top 30.
-
the biggest reason yall are saying warren is better is because your expectations for the wash were high and it wasnt as god as expected
expect that shit to happen with the MJ album... my expectations are very high for MJ, but the songs Ive heard so far are average
-
:o
This is the best Warren G albums since G-Funk Era!!!!!!
Iam really feeling this cd alot, plus it has no crappy guest appearances and the production is vintage Warren G. Its a shame it leaked though :'(
-
i love it too it is so tight mr. grim is now one of my top 5 rappers the whole thing is straight heat!!!!
how many mics yall think the source will give it(yeah i know the source is bullshit) they gave space boogie a 4 and tha eastsidaz a 4 i think this should get a 5 it's on par with the blueprint!
-
the biggest reason yall are saying warren is better is because your expectations for the wash were high and it wasnt as good as expected
True that.
-
This cd will get a 4 in the Source, i can't see them giving someone like Warren G any higher, ya know? Oh well, it is a five to me, or damn close. As for MJ, ya, the songs i heard so far aren't as good as i thought they would be but they are still tight.
And Cliche, the Wash could very well be top 30 this year, give it a chance. But no way does it touch Warren G.....
-
take the 5 best tracks off the wash and put them against the 5 best songs off regulator and what is the result...?
-
Good, i get your point, the wash has some blazin tracks, i will give you that.
I am talking about a complete, dope album from front to back, ok? And i don't think the Wash is dope from front to back, do you? Take the 5 worst tracks from The Wash and put them against the worst five from warren and what is the result?
Don't get me wrong though, i love the Wash, and i get your point...i ma just more down with the laidback shit right now...
-
Damn we dont need to compare everything.. I never heard the wash and I heard a couple of Warren G's... Fucked up shit, I think this album will be one of my favorite. Maybe not of the best for some but for me, ya.
-
ahh i dont see nothing wrong with comparisons..... just convo aint
yeah i get what u mean though... warren is def solid the whole way through....
