I was just thinkin about it...who all remembers when Death Row's website leaked "Da Last Meal" about three or four weeks before it came out? I remember it was the same time that Dead Man Walking came out, and they had something on the main page saying "which Snoop album is better? Listen for yourself!!" and for Last Meal, they had a link to download the whole CDQ album in MP3, but for DMW, you could only listen to Real Audio snippets, LOL.
For those who did DL it, do y'all remember it being out of order, and not having "Go away" on it?
-
yup i remember that! think i have a screenshot of it somewhere...might be on my other network though...classic move by DR! yea if i remember right it was in a completely different order and did it not miss a few tracks that were on the retail?
-
Yeah I remember this. It was all over the news as well. It's funny because back then their was a real debate as to what album was better and alot of people were picking DMW. They pretty much used his marketing to promoter DMW by saying it is the same artist, listen to him in his prime.

This is why they rushed the album out in Europe. I've got an OG European pressing with a different back cover and credits to the later retail. "Hennessey & Buddah" is different on the album too. Kind of interesting. Priority and No Limit were clearly shitting themselves.
-
;D ;D That's Suge!
-
Lol they did the same thing with Daz when he was about to release "This is the Life I Live". And I believe Daz leaked the "Dys-Funk-Tional Family" soundtrack.
"Hennessey & Buddah" is different on the album too.
How so?
-
You say Death Row wanted to release "Tha Last Meal"? I know Snoop made "The Last Meal" track in Death Row, but I didn't know about whole album! :o

No...read again...they LEAKED the album illegally on the death row website, 4 weeks prior to the No Limit street date

Not much... the gunshot sound effect is missing on the OG and maybe something else that I can't remember off the top of my head. But even that change is pretty crazy considering they obviously went back and re-pressed the album for later versions just for that one alteration.

I understand now, shit, DEATH ROW IS BITCHES!!
-
or when they had that gunshot in the intro of the site, and then you hear a dog whimpering. hahahha.
-
Yea it was funny but it was also a downfall of deathrow...they couldnt release anything but old material
btw couldnt they get sued for leaking the album?

The label made them do a immediate closure of the links.
-
Who remember when snoop said he quit smokin, before the release of the compilation "welcome to tha house" ;D BS
-
Who remember when Snoop dogg had a West coast Peace conference right before the release of the album R&G? BS
-
LOL!!! Bet Snoop n No Limit were PISSED!!!!
-
that shit was crazy
-
lol.. I remember when Deathrow leaked both Snoop and Daz's albums. Except I was thinking the Daz album they leaked was "DPGC:You Know What I'm Throwin' Up" and not "This Is The Life I Lead." I knew Daz would do something in retaliation, but I was hoping he would leak that DPG version of Crooked I "Say Hi To The Bad Guy" rather than "Dysfunktional Family." Although, I guess since Crooked's Death Row album kept getting pushed back, it wouldn't have done much to hurt Death Row's sales. But on the other hand, did Dsyfunktional Family even have any sales to hurt?
-
I remember when DR leaked last meal, but not any daz albums. I was stoked, u know I d/l that shit.
-
lol man never knew this shit happened. Crazy. Fuckin Suge for you
-
lol didnt know both albums leaked by DR, man thats a bitch actions
daz' retaliation was cool tho 8)
-
haha damn. never knew this happened, but comes as no surprise to me. shit too bad i wasn't too into rap back then.
-
did dr lawyers trip on daz for leaking the soundtrack?
yeah I remember that last meal shit though, that shit was fucked up. DMW as a whole project on the part of DR was some of the most fucked up shit ever. isn't he in a red jumpsuit on the cover and shit?

I remember those ads in The Source in which D.R. congratulates Snoop for his succes and that every hit album he makes just means more money for Suge... LOL @ the fact they were spending money on advertisements like that.
-
Damn, it was suprise fo' me too.
-
When it comes to comedy, Death Row has it on lock.

They had it on the main webpage right after the Tha Last Meal situation. It was a picture with every Snoop album and I think it mentioned something about Suge getting Snoop's money for the next 7 albums. That shit was funny as hell.
-
On the greatest hits from death row of Snoop, why it have the two logo --> death row & Doggystyle records??
For the bussines??
-
Maybe Death Row and Doggy Style Records made a deal about this album ?
-
I remember that, DR also put up a picture of snoop and "his boys in blue" up on the website intro, it was a picture of snoop and the l.a.p.d ;D
Daz put the dysfunktional family soundtrack up but it was low quality with each track only playing for about 2 mins, where as death row put up the full "you know what im throwin up" in cdq!
-
that's whaaaaack. anyone have the picture of snoop with lapd? anyone know what the situation was? the context?
-T

I think that was the report that was going around that Snoop went to the LAPD and told them Suge was the one that had 2pac killed.

hah, can't blame him there. suge had way more to gain with a dead Pac than a live one.

Oh yeah, they had a picture of the restraining order on the front page of the website. Damn, I used to have all those pictures saved on my computer, but I deleted them. :(

Everytime I read or listen to an interview by a Death Row artist, I'm usually laughing my ass off by the end. I mean, Daz getting sodomized while Kurupt is in the corner tripping on shrooms and crying. There is no comedy writer in the world that would think of something like that. It would definately have to be an improv show. All it would be is Suge standing there talking shit for a half an hour. I guarantee that would be one of the highest rated shows after a month.

Oh shiet you're right. I think them leaking that album is what made Daz push the album back and add 3 new songs and like 12 skits to make it seem longer.

wasn't it dre and the lapd??
I remember that, something like "the nigga who said fuck the police is now talking to the police" with a pic of Dre across the table from some cops lol
-
^lol i remember that, it was so obviously photoshop'd aswell. had this pic stuck on it somewhere:
anyone still got the dre-lapd pic?

i never realised that untill a few years later when my bro bought the album and it had a different booklet.

LOL yup he sure was on th cover in the red jump suit, if I recall properly it was from a scene of Murder Was The Case... an enjoyable film, I'll give it that, make sure you have a blunt.
Dead Man Walking wasn't THAT bad, I actually enjoyed a few of em, County Bluez, I Will Survive, Too Black and Cwalk off the top of my head... I kinda liked the vintage Snoop. Boy I wish Deathrow would put out the good unreleased stuff, like Hoe Hopper, etc...
-
they had 3 pages with cops i think
dr dre and his restraining order
snoops snitching at the police staion after he got arrestet at some concert in 98
and about snoops "boys in blue".....the police protection he got at the time his car got shot up in 03...i think
then they had a nice "kowards in cali" flash conversation between snoop and daz about how they need tons of bodyguards to go to a award show in 2003
in 01 right after suge got out they had a intro page the "coward artists" Jermaine dupri, dr dre and snoop filmed their award show appearance and left before the real niggazentered the building
and some more
...there was a site who had all these ..and.i had some of them on my computer but i cant find them anymoore ...if i find something i will post it
