Dubcnn finally managed to track down a female MC that the game has been missing for some time now. The Lady Of Rage took time to talk to us in this exclusive, in-depth interview which covers an array of issues that have long gone unanswered. We discuss the path that led her to Death Row, meeting with and working with Dr. Dre, we find out details of tracks that never surfaced and talk about the albums she was and wasn't on.
We get the facts on the delay for her debut, what led her to leave the game and then re-emerge as well as discussing her mixtape and her upcoming album "Verbal Abuse". Dubcnn also gets Rage's stories from the Death Row days, including Daz wrestling, and so much more.

GEEAH!!! ONE OF THE ILLEST TO TOUCH THE MIC! Props Nima.

Dubcnn: That was one of the craziest tracks.
Yeah! I surely do! You know, when I heard the beats, I never liked any of the beats. Soon as I walk in the studio, "I don't like that!" I was the grumpy one of the bunch! But when I heard that one, I was like "Oh my gosh, I like it!" The blunts were puffin, the tanqueray was pourin', thus the title! We did our thing! It was dope! I think when The Source had "Hip Hop Quotables", I got that for that rhyme. I got it for something else too, I got it twice.
That other song she got a Hip Hop Quotable for was Microphone Pon Cok.
-
dope read. props to y'all once agian.
-
Rage been real busy huh life after deathrow been good ??? LOL
-
tight interview
-
tight interview Nima! Props!!

I can't wait to hear another album from her.
Wow, she didn't like "Afro Puffs"? Wow. :o That song is fuckin hard.
-
nice interview just finished reading it. I hope she does put an album out she's the only female mc i've ever really liked.
-
I'm glad she said more in the latter part of the interview, because at the start she was like 'I don't know' all the time.
Judging from what she says about 'Verbal Abuse', I really doubt it's anywhere near finished yet, though I might be wrong...that's if the guest features are something added (or not) only at the last stage of recording. So far, it sounded like something she had barely started putting together. I might be egoistical, but I do hope she will not hook up with the likes of Kelis, Missy Elliot and Lil'Kim...at least not on her own work.
-
Props, it was a dope interview.
It's crazy how she wasn't even feeling some of the classic material she's been on.
-
homie u really got a talent for this interviewing shit,,they usually seem to be bored while answering questions etc..but not when u are takin to them
dope shit like always!

You were missed on Chronic 2001!
Nah, but she would of sounded better then that Ms Rok
I'd grab Kurupt from behind, like "Get out of it! Get out of it!" Just so he could tussle with me, wanna slapbox and do stuff like that, cause I was such a tomboy. I remember one time we was wrestling, and I just got him, rolled him up, and he could not get out! He was mad about that for a while, cause I guess you know, I'm a girl... But I'm a strong girl!
hahaha @ Kurupt
I remember Daz used to come to my house almost every morning with a problem and a bottle of Hennessey. At 9am! Like "Why are you drinking this Hennessey?! Is it that bad?!"
Gettin drunk 1st thing in the morning, Daz Style.
Lady Of Rage didnt like Dre's wst coast G-Funk sound ::)
-
Great interview - thanks for asking my questions, Nima.
It's really interesting to hear that she didn't like Dre's West Coast sound, but she even said so at the time. In that interview she did with Hip Hop Connection, she said "there won;t be a single G-funk track on my Death Row album" cos she didn't like the sound.
Fair enough, I guess.
-
Props on the interview.
Can't wait for her album to drop!
-
glad to see my acting gig questions got asked
It's funny how both her and Snoop reacted to hearing their old joints for the first time in years. We internet heads seem to know more about they unreleased stuff than they do
-
nima.
thx 4 da interview.
but why didnt u ask who dat guy on "microphone pon cok" was?Madd 1 Off O.D.D.?and who did tha reggae-part on it? :-[

Yeah Madd 1 was the rapper and they have a Edi Ameng also credited on the song so that could have done the chorus.

Yeah all of Suge's former employees act like that. They either want they shit or can't remember it because they did so much.
-
Another great interview that kept me entertained at work, didnt see this one coming.
-
That was really interesting!!
Especially those tracks that Rage has for the new record sounds amazing....gonna buy that record for sure!!
STAY UP MS RAGE!!!
(and stop wrestling west coast rappers if u wanna loose your "tuff girl" image ;D ;))
-
props for a dope interview.
-
it was a damn good read
-
Good read, even though she really didn't say much
It's kinda weird to hear how Rage doesn't really like the G-funk sound cuz she comes off so natural and sounds real good over G-funk laced beats...I thought her Death Row album blew ass and I was dissapointed alot..Lyrically on point, but production wise horrible....Hopefully the new album won't dissapoint if it's ever released production wise...She also mentioned that she doesn't battle that much anymore...It would be great to see Rage in a fight club type deal where she battles her idol Rakim, or Nas or Jay
-
Nice... gonna check out her new album when it drops.... does anyone know the name of the hispanic female mc that Rage worked with, It's kinda hard to hear the name in the interview.

Dubcnn: You were missed on Chronic 2001!
Well he asked me to be on 2001! I agreed, and he told me to come to the studio and get the track, I came there, he didn't have the track the day I came, and he told me to come back the next day. I came back, he still didn't have the track, so I just didn't come to the studio, I started calling to find out if the track was available. I felt I was getting the run-around, like "Oh the track is not ready, the track is not ready." So I finally told Larry like "Look, I know when I'm getting the run-around, you tell Dre to call me when he's ready for me." I just didn't understand it, because he asked me to be on there! So it wasn't like I was like "Oh Dre please let me be on it!" He asked me to be on it, and I said yeah!
what! damn they shoulda took that one bitch off "Let's Get High" and put Rage instead :stupid:
-
Fucking badass that she's putting out some shit. Probally the only female MC that I ever felt.
-
Props for the interview nice read!

Is it me or The Main reason that Rage doesnt have an album out is because she's Picky as fuck? dont get me wrong she's the best but she sounds Picky as fuck!!
