Bought 100 blank CDs for 20 bucks from COMPUSA yesterday and the brand was the COMPUSA brand and hardly anything I've burnt plays in my car CD player except for mp3 discs.
does anyone else have experience with this brand of blank disc? Do they only not work if you fill them up? The slim mobster mixtape plays fine cause it's only like 20 minutes, or is it just a ratio of bad discs to good discs? Cause the last pack I got of the SONY discs, most of 'em worked and a few were juist duds. Is the over-all quality of every disc worse cause of the brand or is the ratio of duds to not duds is just higher in th cheaper ones?

It could be your burner, but yea, stay away from cheap blanks... :-\

What the fuck? It has been at least a decade since I last heard of someone who burned a cd that didn't work properly. I didn't know that still happens?

what type of music files do you burn on your cd's if not mp3?
-
How can you buy cheap CD's?
You sure it ain't what you burned wit?

while my burner will fuck up from time to time, never ratios like this. i burnt like 7 CDs this morning and only 2 of them work in my car. they all work in my stereo CD changer in my room though. My car plays mp3s and mp3cds so i don't see how it's my cars fault but it sucks cause my car is where i listen to music the most.
anyway, I believe I'm burning wav files. I think I'm just gonna buy some decent discs today and tell my family/friends they can pick from the hundred if they need to

do you mean how is it possible to buy cheap ones or are you asking my reasoning?

You could try to reduce the burning speed. Like letīs say your burner is capable of 24x writing then just reduce it to 12 or whatever.
Just reduce it somewhat and see if it works. Worked for me and my burner was really the definiton of shitty.
That way it will take longer to burn a cd but yeah. Give it a try.

Mine used to fuck up like that too, so I set my burner to the slowest speed. I believe it's at 8x. It fixed the problem and it sounds better too.
-
so it's not the discs, it's the burn speed? until I got these discs, my burner was never a problem.

All kinds really. Philips, Imation, or even BASF. I've never heard of anyone experiencing problems with this though - it just seems really weird to me. Perhaps indeed reducing the burning speed could make it a little safer, but that only goes for real shitty burners. I've never had any trouble with mine running at full speed.

LOL.
Nah, how's that possible cuz I never heard of that before. ;)

What about cleaning your cd player in the car? You said that they play in another stereo, right?? So it's just gotta be an issue with that player, not the burner. You said also that your burning them as wav files, so maybe your car stereo don't recognize wav, just mp3?

nah, i've been burning shit for months, mp3 and wav. it never happened till i got these discs. my CD player is just uppity. it doesn't play really cheaply burnt stuff. my copy of the pretox mixtape for example, that I purchased at amoeba records, doesn't play in my car.
bought some TDK discs, should work. though cleaning my car stereo not a bad idea. i gotta get one of those cds with the brush attached right?
thanks everyone for their help +1 to all in thread.
