I was at groove time music in highland a few days ago and copped used copies of e40's mailman, doc's NCDIB, and warren g's reality all for 20 bucks. I noticed the warren g cover had gold letters saying "promotional use only, should not be resold" and that the whole cd was edited. some of the songs like annie mae have alternate lyrics but over-all I'm pissed that it's edited. I imagine it was a copy given to a DJ at some point intended for radio play when the record came out, are such copies rare? is anyone interested? I know crip hop likes to get alternate lyric versions of DPG songs, but yeah at this point all I want is an unedited copy, anyone know anything about these promo copies?
anyway, about the album. listened to it in its entirey for the first time in years last night (albeit edited) and damn, every song is solid. I think near classic. i remember in the late 90's it didn't hold up that well to me but in today's context the shit bangs beyond belief, time has treated it well. any thoughts?

I liked the album when it first dropped, but not a classic. I'll have to listen to it again and get back to you. As for your new found love of the album, I guess it speaks volumes of the crap that's being released today.
-
it's a pretty decent album. prolly ranks 3rd/4th in my warren collection. annie mae, smokin me out, & reality are 3 classics. besides them 3, there are about another 5 dope tracks. no real way to follow his 1st 1 tho :-\

for real i hate when dudes front saying regulate is the only good shit the warren to the g had. take a look over your shoulder had a lotta dope tracks. that albums cheap anyways though so shouldnt be a loss for you. i bought a second copy of twinz conversation to find it was edited which makes it ... useless so i feel you.

yea, cus that's not fair. but it is his only 5/5 album imo. about everything else he's done gets at least a 3-3.5/5 for me

I haven't heard that Midnight Hour album yet though(yeah i know im really late)... but every other album of his is dope in my opinion. I really liked I Want It All. I don't get how you can hate on him for only having one 5/5 when half the emcees out there dont got a definite 5/5 album or a solid catalog. i think its an example of starting so strong people hate on him for not livin up to his first effort.

I want It all i think is 1 of my least fav. warren discs. don't get wrong idea, i still like it, just hold it a bit beneath most of the others (i gotta re-do his catalog to make sure were i stand). true, at least he got 1 classic
-
im'a re-do the warren catalog after i finish the cube 1 agian. i'll prolly start a cube thread on here by the end of the week

That whole CD is dope. I bought it when it first came out. I could listen to take a look over your shoulder and regulate all the way through.
-
I haven't really heard much form that album, But the few tracks i've heard, are outstainding!! Since you guys are speaking so highly of the album, i'mma go cop it.
Am a huge Warren G fan, but saying that..i was not really happy with **Mid-Night Hour**..but i still listen to it..and appreciate the album...
I still listen to **Return Of the Regulator** alot!!

im a big fan of warren g i bought take a look brand new but it was in the used section for 3 bucks i love all his cd's including the new one midnite hour he's not a lyrasist but i dont give fuck thats the type of you could wake up with and the shit you could fall a sleep with

I liked the album a lot. It got mad bumps from me when it dropped. Not a classic, but it was very good at times and I could listen to it from front to back. I fuckin love "Transformers" and "Relax Ya Mind". That laid back shit that Warren was so good at.
-
i like the album.there are not many artists who can make that smooth westcoast shit like warren

promo copies are just cds that were distributefd free to djs or just in advance before album release. This particular cd Warren G, a promo does not really have any value. Youd be able too sell it just as much as a regular copy. Its not really a rare cd.
-
I always liked - TAke a look over your shoulder - I thought it was a Dope album title and a cool album ,
1. TRANSFORMERS
2. SMOKIN ME OUT
3. CAN YOU FEEL ME
4. ANNI MAE
5. REALITY
6. RELAX YOUR MIND
8) 8)

word,I was actually just suggesting giving it to anyone that wanted it like crip hop for example as he
a)hooks up mountainous amounts of media (say that 3 times fast)
b)I've seen him digging around the H-spot looking for alternate lyrics versions of DPG songs
