HOUSTON -- A Katy school teacher made her first court appearance Monday after confessing to engaging in a sexual affair with a student, FOX 26 News reported.
Emily Willis, 28, an eighth-grade math teacher at McDonald Junior High, was charged Monday with sex assault of a child.
Willis' legal troubles flared up when a sheriff's deputy found her naked in the back seat of a parked car with a 14-year-old boy,
Authorities identified the boy as a student at the same school she teaches, however, it has not been made clear of the boy was a student in one of her classes.
According to court documents, Willis confessed to having sex with the boy shortly after her arrest.
Willis and her attorney declined to comment after Monday's hearing.
A spokeswoman for the Katy Independent School District says Willis has been placed on administrative leave without pay pending a final decision by the Board of Trustees.
An official with the Texas Education Agency confirmed with FOX 26 News that Willis received her teaching certificate in May, which means this was her first year on the job.
