I think Eazy is probably the most underrated rapper ever.. Yea, he gets alot of props from West Coast artists, but i honestly think he should get more props than Biggie.. I think the East and other areas don't give him the props that he deserves.
His flow is timeless.. You can put his verses on new beats and it sounds like he just recorded them.
If he would of stayed alive 1 more year, he would of single handedly took down Death Row.. He started going after Dr Dre but was getting ready to 'ether' Snoop and the Death Row 'crips' for being bitches to Bloods. He was the one who put Bone Thugs N Harmony on...

but the dope part about this song was that it came out more then 1 year after eazy died in 96 on str8 off tha streetz of compton vol 1, he destroys them, it doesnt matter if he wrote his own lyrics or not, niether did dre, it just matters who spit them,
he spits the real on dre on ole school shit another track off that album

Now back to the mutha fuckin set, creepin crawlin crawlin creepin

the shitty part about this song was that part of his verse was somehow erased and he went on to diss dre and snoop at the end of this song, hopefully one day it will come out i hope
-
nahh...
naahhh for sure. He isn't underrated.
-
he didnt write that shit, ren did
-
no way. he didnt even write those disses^.
mc ren is mad underrated though.

spoken like a true O.G.
Eazy fucced them niggas up. Dre Day was a weak diss song and certainly nothin compared to Real Muthafuccin Gz. If he had lived his beef wit Suge wouldve gone to another level and I just know it wouldve gotten violent. I know E was ready to kill Suge at one point and was dead serious about it. It wouldve been done if other people hadnt stopped him. and Suge really hated E because he was everything he wasn't. A Compton O.G..
-
mc ren is the underatted one
-
He is not underrated considering he didn't write a lot of his raps.
-
not at all..
-
He didnt write his shit . he was ok to me not that great.
-
This thread is a joke and laughable....Eazy isn't undrerrated...He had a good mic presence, but he didn't write his own rhymes, alot of his later solo releases were garbage and he consistently and knowingly fucc'd his "homeboys" in the ass along with that jewish devil faggot Jerry Heller...If anything he was more of an underrated business man more then he was a rapper.
-
I used to think so. I actually thought he was the greatest of all time, but you have to write your own lyrics. He made a career out of rapping lyrics that Cube and Ren wrote for him.
-

Eazy doesnt get half the credit he deserves to get. cause if it wasnt for him the west coast wouldnt be where it is and yeah he did kill dre on his diss tracks and the fucked up thing was on his song what would you do. he pretty much foretold the downfall of death row. R.I.P E
-
^^^^ Eazy did a lot for the West from a business standpoint...can't nobody deny that. But we're talking about ARTISTIC reasons here. Everybody's already said it...he didn't write most of his own lyrics (chances are, your favorite Eazy verse was written by Ren or B.G. Knocc Out or Dresta), and his flow wasn't all that great. He did have charisma, but that doesn't get you everywhere. And besides, 99% of Eazy fans I see seem to like him more because of his supposed street cred than his actual music.
And LOL at C-SICC. Stupid fuckin 'Net banging faggots.
-
Hell no. "Ice Cube writes the rhymes that I say."
-
NO MATTER WHAT ANYBODYS GOTTA SAY, "EAZY WILL ALWAYZ BE A LEGEND IN MUSIC & THE RAP GAME"!!!!! www.myspace.com/denumbluesmuzikpage - www.myspace.com/meechwells
-
Eazy didn't even write his own flow in some cases. Rappers wrote his shit and performed it to show him how it should be recited. No he's not underated, and yes, I am a big fan. And I agree with others, if anyone was underated it was Ren.
-
He's definitely under-appreciated as a rap legend icon...but as a rapper, he's not underrated at all. It's some people outside the west who can't name an Eazy-E song that wasn't with NWA...and it's probably people 18 and under on the West who can't name any.
-

I disagree. businesswise the man is a legend, he builded a empire and put Ice Cube, MC REn, Dre, Yella (NWA!!!), Doc, Kokane ,Above The Law, Bone Thugs in the game. PROPZ GIVEN!
Rappin´ wise though...he often left must to be desired.
-
Rappin wise, he was 60% personality, 40% catchy voice.
-

real talk! he is not underrated as a rapper, but underrated as an icon if you compare him with other dead rappers (Biggie and Pac). Cube and Ren are are both underrated as rappers, but
Eazy had the idea and the image.
I would say that Ice-T and King-T are the real underrated ones...
-
I'll meet you half way and say that Eazy is definately wayyy underappreciated for what he did for hip hop in general. He was a visionary. He built his label from the ground up. He gave a lot of people their start. He was able to balance being controversial and being successful. And I think that amounts to a lot more than whether or not his flow was underrated. Eazy may not have written all of his matierial, but I think when it came to recording all of those albums over there at Ruthless, he had a lot more input, artisitically than a lot of people realise.
-
he's underrated for being a dead rapper.

Another song I know he wrote all by himself was Wut Would U Do wit him and Shaki. So niggas keep sayin shit that aint really true. This niggas was highly involved in the artistic nature of music. He was all into it. This niggas was gettin into producin and he was even designin album covers...shiiiiiiiit.
-
Regardless if he didn't write 100% of his lyrics, I still think he is underrated. I think it's because he didn't die from a honorable reason like getting shot up. (joking... but not really). Plus he died at a time when the West Coast was starting to really heat up.
When these East Coast, BET and MTV cats be naming off their favorite rappers of all time, i don't see them thinking "I would of named Eazy E but he didn't write his own lyrics"
I don't understand how some of ya can name Snoop Dogg and Kurupt in your favorite MC rankings when at their prime their lyrics were written by DOC
-
the same could be said about dre..he probably didnt write much on anything death row related or aftermath related..... as a producer yeah he is a legend
and i agree Eazy ripped Dre and Death row with all his disses...even Kokane killed dre on funk upon a rhyme..
Eazy's only mistake in life was not signing DJ Quik back in the day..

It wasn't Eazy's mistake.
"I ended up meeting Easy after my album came out, and we talked about me even signing over there, and he even tried to get me out of my Profile deal, sign me over there; offered a million dollars and Profile was like no we aren’t having it. Sent him a cease and desist order and all this shit, so . " - DJ Quik (http://www.mobfiggaz.net/exclusive_interviews/dj_quik_interview.php)
In my opinion Eazy isn't unterrated at all. I don't care if some one else wrote couple of his song, eazy real muthafucca anyway.
-
I liked the Eazy E disses but I cant say he destroyed Death Row or anybody from there ??? The Row were still makin hits after the disses and the disses really didnt mean much since Eazy E pressed charges against Suge for assault when Suge made him sign over Dre so the disses dont mean much when you press charges against niggas and talkin like your gonna wack em .
Rip eazy

Difference is that regardless of who wrote what, Kurupt and Snoop had a MUUUUUUCH better flow, delivery, and all else that isn't lyrics. I don't even care about Eazy writin or not writin his lyrics...he wasn't one of the best rappers back then. One reason that Death Row and the Snoop/Dre camp blew up 100 times more than Eazy and Ruthless before BONE came is not just because of Dre's production, but because they were better rappers. Eazy had funny raps, and had some catchy and memorable lines, regardless of if he wrote it or not...but rap wise, it's no way he could touch Snoop, Kurupt, Lady of Rage, or anybody else. I'd also say that Dre was better at rappin than Eazy was.

I agree with your point about who had the better flows between Snoop and Kurupt, verses Eazy. I think they were better emcees. Especially Kurupt. For that matter, I think Kurupt was probably the best emcee on Death Row at that time (the classic deathrow era, when he was first signed to the label.) Kurupt in his prime was probably better than a lot of emcees today. He used complex compound syllable rhyme schemes and a lot of similies and metaphors. The strength in Eazy's flow I think was, as someone else said, his charisma. That, and he had a very unique voice. Lyrics-wise, his flow was more straight-to-the-point. But I think people respect it so much still, because he seemed to give the impression that what he said in his rhymes was real talk. Especially as it pertained to the Ruthless and Deathrow situation.
But again, business wise, there's no comparison. You need only look at it this way. Ruthless records was a success, because Eric Wright made it a success. Deathrow was a success, because all the talent that was at Ruthless at the time was hijacked and taken to Deathrow. Ruthless as a label, failed only because it's CEO and founder died. Deathrow failed when it shouldn't have. The people who were in charge at Deathrow pissed their empire away.

I'd agree with almost everything except saying that the talent at Ruthless was hi-jacked. We definitely can't act as if Jerry and Eazy weren't shady azz businessmen, especially towards NWA...and the only talent that went from Ruthless to Death Row was Dre, so they must not have been THAT strong if one person could change the entire outcome. Cube went out and did his own thing, but it wasn't with DR. When Eazy was alive, Ruthless didn't blow up again til BONE dropped.

I agree i think eazy is the greatest of all time he did it before anybody else the pioneer

Actually, Dr.Dre, Michelle', and D.O.C. all defected to Deathrow. Now, hands down, Dr.Dre leaving was definately the biggest loss to Ruthless Records. But when you look at how much D.O.C. contributed to the writing for both the Deathrow and Ruthless camps, signing him was another big acquisition for Death Row. And had he not lost his voice in that unfortunate accident, it would have been an even bigger deal. But more than just the people that Death Row signed, they also used the same concept that Eazy started to make each of their albums successful. The idea being that you put the entire "family" on each solo project so that they're introduced to the public and anticipation can grow for each of their upcoming albums. Moreover, if you subscribe to Eazy's opinion, it can also be argued that Death Row didn't invent "G-Funk" but rather copied the sound from Above the Law's "Black Mafia Life" album.
Now, I don't mean to say that some of the members of NWA didn't get signed to bad deals at Ruthless. Some of them may have. Jerry Heller has even admitted in that recent interview that he underestimated the importance that Dre played at Ruthless Records. But what I meant by "hi-jacked", is that Suge Knight capitalized on that situation. He basically used a "divide and conquer" tactic, pulling them aside one by one, and telling them how bad their deal was at Ruthless. And if you looked at how things turned out, Dre and D.O.C. didn't end up happy with their situation over at Death Row either, and Dre owned half of the company, over there.
I'm not trying to sound like I'm all down on Death Row. A lot of good music ended up coming out of how things turned out. I'm just saying that when Death Row started, it started with every advantage. And in the end it was all squandered.

I agree with you 100%!
People need to stop bullshitting like "he didn't write shit" because when he released solo albums after '92 he wrote his own tracks (not all, but many tracks he did wrote himself... it's been confirmed in MC Ren interviews etc... etc.. do some fucking research)! So yes, he was great as an artist too, not just a good businessman!!!! So he really deserves the title The Godfather Of Gangstarap, and more recognition! In my opinion he is underrated... >:( :(
-
imo a pretty crap rapper. The personality was everything tho

Yeah. I think the fact that Ice Cube, D.O.C., and MC Ren wrote for him early in his career has perpetuated the myth that he only used ghost wrtiers over the span of his career. And I've never seen or heard that anywhere. In all the interviews conducted with Eazy and any of his entourage, I've never read or heard anyone say "Eazy never wrote any of his lyrics." It's common knowledge that at the beginning of his career he didn't write his rhymes. But at the beginning of his career, he never planned on being a rapper. I'm of the opinion that it doesn't matter all that much anyway. But I do think that towards the end of his solo career, Eazy was writing more and more of his own stuff.

You know what I find annoying? Muthafuckers who're twisting the facts about Eazy E. The only thing suckers like you can make up is "he didn't write his own lyrics." Wow... what an argument! Like I said before: DO SOME FUCKING RESEARCH before you start spreading that bullshit!
How did you feel when you called the Ruthless fans "12 year old groupies"? I hope you're really proud of yourself, fool! I'm probably older than you are... that's why you don't understand the greatness of Eazy E and Ruthless Records. You were probably born after the Ruthless era. If you don't understand it keep your bullshit mouth shut, faggot!

He is not underrated considering he didn't write a lot of his raps.
True, but he definetly was a good artist & a legend...

LOL at this pathetic fuck searching for eazy e threads get a life dude.

He's definitely under-appreciated as a rap legend icon...but as a rapper, he's not underrated at all.
Eazy didn't even write his own flow in some cases. Rappers wrote his shit and performed it to show him how it should be recited. No he's not underated, and yes, I am a big fan. And I agree with others, if anyone was underated it was Ren.
Real Talk.
One of my personal fav's of all time, but most def not underappreciated.
Again, if anybody is lacking some limelight, it's definetly MC Ren

I didn't searched shit... I just missed your bullshit reply back then, and I saw it today by coincidence. Y'all just need to do some research before y'all start talking shit! That's all I'm saying.
K-Dub, better an Eazy E sig and avater than your homo avater! Think about it, fool!
-
he's overrated as a rapper. he was a genius when it came to creating a unique group/image but when it comes to rapping there are a lot better. i'd take rappin ron any day.

Get off the dead man's dick and let him rest in peace, homo

EAZY E is in my top 5..... the one downfall he didnt write all his rhymes.... but his flow is timeless and what he did for the game was huge..... solo album were dope all of them.... everything eazy ever put out was dope
-
in a way eazy iz underrated
he still fuccin raw
-
ren is underrated
-
the same could be said about dre..he probably didnt write much on anything death row related or aftermath related..... as a producer yeah he is a legend
and i agree Eazy ripped Dre and Death row with all his disses...even Kokane killed dre on funk upon a rhyme..
Whats this situation all about, i never heard about that????
Robert – What was your reaction after Petey Pablo said those comments about You and Nate Dogg, and the west?
DJ Quik – You heard about that?
Robert – Oh yea, I think everybody has.
DJ Quik – Did he make it where umm, did he say something even afterwards after he said it at the club?
Robert – He said it on stage.
DJ Quik – Really? Well the good thing is he got booed for saying that shit.
Robert – Yea everybody on the west didn’t take it very nicely.
DJ Quik – Right. I think umm,ya know I worked with Petey and didn’t know he was that kind of guy but ya know; maybe had I not worked with him, he probably wouldn’t have said none of that shit. I don’t know why. I also think it was also because of the company he keeps these days to.
