hp/compaq or an acer

for a notebook definetly get an Alienware, I'd stay away from dells in general cause to upgrade them you usually have to always go through them for it. Im building my own pc right now all custom it can kick any dell's ass.

I've got a dell laptop and never had any problems with it.

i have a dell d620 for work and it's nice
i've got a toshiba satellite m70 and an apple ibook for myself, only ever had issues with the ibook out of all 3 (had the mainboard swapped out 3 times, hard drive died twice and video display once, within a 7 month period)

I got a inspiron 6400 (e1505) since januari, and its great. You should never get a desktop system from dell, compaq, hp etc. But dell is known for delivering good notebooks. But like Bramsterdam said, upgrading is a bitch. But its normally not possible to upgrade things from your notebook. So you have to take all the things you want when buying our notebook.
But how much money are you willing to spend? And what do you want to do with it (games, internet etc)?
