-
sorry everyone for the pump fake on my first post. but now that the defender has flown by i'm going back up for the monster dunk. i got a lot of shit to talk about and i may add some more later. anyways, here i go.
wash soundtrack - as everyone knows by now the movie is dropping on november 14 and the soundtrack november 6th. i've heard a lot of people complaining about who's on the soundtrack and a lot of people are doubting that the album will be any good. go ahead and doubt us. we love being the underdog. i've heard a few people mention that i said this was going to be the next chronic. i may have said that a while back but i don't remember doing so. but if you say i did i will take your word. i can't say it quite matches up to the chronic but with the time we had we couldn't have done much better. as far as the product you will hear, we are more than happy with the results. the fact that the soundtrack got pushed up so far didn't help us at all. "wash" was supposed to be the dre/snoop reunion album, but when lions gate pushed it up from next summer to this fall, that was never going to happen. a few months ago half the album was done and it was going exactly how we planned. we also had a few monster surprises lined up that would make the album extra special, but unfortunately most of those fell through due to scheduling conflicts and the time needed to make this album exactly the way we wanted it. we had hoped to have 4 or 5 dre/snoop collabs on the soundtrack. the two we do have are definelty really special. however, with snoop being so busy with his dogghouse label, his next solo joint, the bones soundtrack and his tour it was near impossible to get dre and snoop together. dre and snoop were scheduled to get together the week of september 10th and work until they had 2 or 3 more tracks to go with "the wash" and "hard on the boulevard". however, as you know september 11th changed the world forever and dre and snoop cancelled the sessions cause they wanted to be with their family. for dre family is number one and he was not in the mood to work, like most americans. due to the lions gate/interscope deadline for printing and pressing the album the dre/snoop recording sessions could not have been rescheduled to make the deadline. so the extra songs never got done. the track with devin the dude is also on devin's solo joint and it was decided by others outside of our camp that devin should save it exclusively for his album. that's it on the wash. but wait til you hear the album before you stupidly start overreacting and dissing it. we worked as hard as we could and hammered out the best possible album considering the setbacks and time deadlines.
bones, warren g, nate, xzibit - i don't know about you but i think the bones soundtrack is for the most part very fresh and funky. it is a true soundtrack as it keeps the movie in mind when doing the songs. snoop is pretty fuckin smooth and cool in bones. its a great hip hop halloween movie. snoops upcoming joint is looking pretty impressive, but i have only heard a few things. warren g's album is very good although warren has some shitty luck. i won't get into it much but i feel real sorry for him. he always seems like the odd man out. blame for that goes in many directions, including warren's. make no mistake though, return of the regulator is warren at his best. and although dre doesn't work with warren much, warren will be the first to tell you dre has stuck by him and helped him inmeasurably through the hard times. with nate dogg people are also prejudging and disrespecting the album before it comes out. i love it and you will too. i hope that someday you will hear nate's song, "yesterday i cried". it is about september 11th and it is my favorite nate song EVER. its as good as music gets. i just hope he gets a chance to share it with the world. with xzibit "man vs the machine" and the golden state project and coming along nicely. xzibit has much more time to make his new solo joint easily surpass restless. restless was so hurried xzibit admits the lyrics were 1/10 what he was capable of. the beats were superb but the lyrics could not match it. "man vs the machine" will be both musically and lyrically superb. i'm gonna cut this post off and do another one in a short while. the next one will address hittman, rakim, truth, and some rumors out there. peace.
-
where did ya get all dat info from
-
hey mellowman i have a few questions
can you explain more about warren when you have time?
and do snoop and dre or anyone from the crew know about this board? have they ever been on here?
and whats up with Daz? is he gonna make music with dre again? what does dre think of him?
-
This is some good news. I'm glad you mentioned something about man vs machine. Yo, who are the producers on this joint cause I'm really looking forward to it. Is dre and mellman gonna be working with him again.
-
hmm...still not convinced on the soundtrack but i have a good feeling about warren's cd...xzibits last cd was pretty tight lyrically and if he thinks it was only 1/10 then that's pretty hard to believe cause i thought it was tight...i wanna hear that nate song real bad and anyone who has any songs from the wash soundtrack please post them on this thread or another thread but let us know where they are...i'm looking foward to the second half of this thread...
oh and mellow can you please address why eminem isn't on the cd besides the d12 song...and why it isn't new d12 material...and also how eminem's new cd is coming along, thanks, peace.
-
i'm back. i had to run back to play some d but now i'm on the offensive again. there are a few things surrounding the wash soundtrack that i didn't mention because it is not the right time or place. and it probably never will be. these things came from outside THE aftermath camp, thats why i won't go into them. i know everyone was expecting hittman to show up on the wash soundtrack. but like i told you many times hittman's future with aftermath was up in the air and it still is, and at this point it doesn't look real promising.
dr dre/timbaland project - dre is mum on the subject as it is more or less timbaland's idea. it could happen, but i doubt it. thats not to say dre and timbo don't have good relationship cause they do, evident by timbalands helping out with giving a few songs so we had enough to fill the wash out.
dre's bin laden song - there is such a song but right now it probably won't come out. dre wants to put it out but doesn't know if it is the best idea or the proper reaction to what happened. the unfinished song is craaaaaazy. fuckin crazy. as evident by dre being the first celebrity to donate 1 million bucks, the events of sept. 11th had a huge impact on dre. and dre more than expresses his anger toward bin laden and the people responsible on the monster track. their is no title for the song and no planned release date. if it was me i'd put it out cause it is "natural born killaz" like. i hope you hear it cause it is fuckin dope but right now i would say you probably won't hear it.
rumors of people being dropped off the aftermath label - a certain website recently decided to come after dre and even spread some lies. the people responsible were people we thought were friends. guess not. like the old saying goes "the people you think are your friends really ain't your friends". but in this business you learn that lesson hundred's of times. truth hurts and rakim are still on the aftermath label, contrary to the rumors and lies out there. once the wash release and promotion are past, getting truth hurts album touched up and released is priority number one in the aftermath camp. dre has spend a lot of time working on Truth's album. the recording sessions have yielded some 70 songs and it is now in the song picking stage. expect truth hurts debut album to be released fairly soon. i'll talk more about it as that time approaches. now i have some news that will be disappointing to some but it is way too early to get too down about it. i want to be as honest with you as possible without getting too detailed or compromise anybody i talk about. as far as rakim goes, you've probably noticed i haven't brought up oh my god up lately.
well, there is a small chance that Rakim will never drop an album on Aftermath. at the same time there is a small chance rakim will never drop another album. please do not jump to any conclusions or get too excited. if it doesn't happen dre will be the most dissapointed person on the planet. and that's saying something considering that this project is something i've waited my whole life for. dre will pursue every avenue and exhaust every possibilty to get this album done. that's why i am confident that you will hear oh my god at some point down the line. a lot of this has to do with rakim. we have to get a better picture of his thinking. but before you start crying, remember that i said that there is a small possibilty oh my god won't drop. now after hearing this news most of you will automatically assume that dre is at fault if it doesn't happen. it seems like every dre project announced that doesn't happen, everyone places all of the blame directly on dre. this concept is totally unfair and ridiculous in most cases. i will address this issue on another reply in a little while. i'll also address DETOX and a few other things. talk to you soon.
-
thanx for the news
but what about my questions???
can you please answer them
-
oh no, i'm not crying but i wanted rakim to drop more than anything, more than a new dre cd...ahhhhhhhhh noooooooooo, i wonder what's going on with ra...this is not good news at all, peace.
-
yo mellow how many songs do you know of that dre produced on snoops new cd?????? please answer i need to know!!!!!!!!
-
Damn, Mellowman always comes correct with the exlusives! Thanks Dogg!
-
Mellow, I'm glad to see we agree on the "Bones" album seeing that it's "funky & smooth." Much props for you comin here and sayin what's gotta be said even if it may be bad or good news. I'll be happy with whatever Dre drops.
-
i want to clarify something real quick about my Restless comments. i loved the album and thought it was much better than most people gave it credit for. however, xzibit expects more out of himself. x was disappointed with restless cause he didn't really have the studio time or ability in his schedule to have enough time to make it as good as he hoped. but he was happy with restless all things considered. however he belives that he can do 10 times better lyrically. he wants to do more complex, deeper, more introspective rhymes and less of the tired old topics and views. since man vs machine is not on aftermath i will not comment on producers. it is not my place or my right to release too much information.the only thing i will confirm is dre will again e.p and produce on the album.
as far as talking more about warren, again it would be disrespectful and backstabbing to talk about a lot of things regarding warren. i will not compromise my friends by releasing personal information which is unaccetable to talk about. if warren wants to talk about it he can. but i wont. as far as your daz question i have addressed that before. daz said too much shit about dre, both lies and disses. dre forgives but he don't forget. daz has got his own shit going and dre is in full support of daz's career.as far as eminem. ill talk about him and his upcoming shit when the time is right.
as far as continued doubt about the wash soundtrack. if you knew everything involved and the shit in the music business that happens you would appreciate things a lot more. as i said the wash is a really dope album and although there are a few things we had planned on happening that didn't we gave everything we had to put out the best album possible. time was cut short and a few setbacks from outside influences and people caused things to change our initial plans for the album. but i can't say enough times that given everything that happened and all the circumstances involved we could not have made it any better than it is. i wish we had til next summer to work on it, but we were not given that opportunity. PLEASE FOR THE LAST TIME WAIT FOR THE ALBUM TO DROP AND LISTEN TO IT IN CD QUALITY BEFORE YOU JUDGE IT. trust me it will be better than many of you are thinking right now. be back soon.
-
i just heard the knock song off the wash toundrack i gotta say big up to dre on the beat! hey mellow let me say this again please, please i beg you on my hands and knees do you know how many tracks dre has produced so far on snoops new album and have you heard them? please answer
-
hey mellow i just wanted to give some thoughts of my own...
first off definitely much respect to dre for all the hard work and wonderful music he has put out over his career... i think he is a wonderful role model for the music industry and for our youth...
my personal opinion on the "anti bin laden" song... i am sure its a dope track but i dont think it would be in dre's best interest to release this.. im sure he has thought about all this himself but just my opinino also... i dont think this country needs anymore hate and while im sure its an amazing song im also sure it would get misinterpretted no matter how well thought out and worded it is by someone... as i was saying i think dre is a wonderful role model and while i havent heard the song i wouldnt want to see his credibility ruined by it...
especially in the black community there are few really strong, well known, intelligent, and positive role models... some possess a FEW of these charateristics but few possess all... people can criticize dre for the content of his music but i think dre has made a large positive contribution to the world and i would love to see him continue doing so...
few people ever get put in the position he is in to really make a difference and although he is at heart a musical artist he has contributed more than just music to this country and personally i would love to see him become even futher involved in the community and in the nation on a Positive level... i think his recent donation really said a lot about his character to this country and i wouldnt want to see that tarnished...
i guess what i am trying to get at is this country has so few black leaders and whether people realize it or not i think Dre is and should be one of them and i think it would be great to see him even further involved.... much respect and the best of luck
Ant

A couple of snippet tracks found thier way onto the internet, and Knock became one of my most looked forward to... From what I have seen, he can do no wrong! Any info would be great, perhaps a general release date for it? Thanks a great deal

No Rakim and Hittman. If that comes out to be true Iam dissapointed in Dre. Those 2 guys could go platinum easily and they would have really heated albums with Dre on the production.
Please Dre give us atleast one album.
Which one would u guys want???
The Rakim or the Hittman?
I would want the Rakim.
-

and yall ask too many questions. and why do you say RIP Rakim & Hittman, he sayd there is a SMALL chance he wont drop, just wait and see. how can u be disappointed, mellow sayd that dre will pursue every possibilty to get this album done.
i just hope this nate dogg track gets released
but thanx for the info mellowman... stay up
-
Some of that shit was deep. & I really don't wanna sound dissapointed wit some of the news but the fact is some of it sounds doubtful (ie Rakim, Hittman). But i'm not gonna write off The Wash until i've heard it ALL wit my own ears.....the only thing I was really dissapointed about was the fact that Snoop & Dre didn't get to do more trks, but I understand & respect that some of the reasons were due to the Sept 11th incident. Props 4 the news Mellow.
-
Yo Mel thankx for the info, but what kind of problems is hittman having with aftermath. and is eminem and dre still coll with each other.
peace
-
thanks for the support everyone on tha7th's anti-mellowman thread which thankfully now is locked, but there is no need to trash anyone who doesn't believe me or like me. so leave tha7th and bigg bpg alone. they can think what they want. the only thing that bothers me is when people address an entire thread that calls me out. i don't know why people
can't keep some opinions to themselves or between their friends on this board, using an outside way of communication. i don't think its right to call me out on a thread title just to bring some attention to oneself. believe me if i do leave the board, it will be because of some personal reason,
not because of what someone does, what someone believes, or what someone says about me. and if i do leave i will definetly explain my reasons. i would at least owe you guys that much. the events of september 11th have caused me to rethink and reevaluate where my priority's are and whether i am taking time away from my family when i post on this board. music takes up most of my time so i have to make sure i am spending my spare time in the right way.
anyways i find it very funny that people expect me to know for sure if hittman will ever drop or rakim will drop or most planned releases for that matter. hittman doesn't know, dre doesn't even know, nobody knows. so how in the hell am i suppose to know? i just give you updates on the current status of all dre and aftermath projects and a few others. the others i have to limit what i say because people trust me and i will not compromise or risk losing that by saying something i have no right to say. the only thing i know for sure is that the wash will drop, truth hurts will drop and at some point dre's detox will drop. other than that the other projects can go either way. and no one knows for sure what the outcome will be.
someone asked if dre and eminem are cool. yes they are. they haven't done a whole lot together lately but they will in the near future. now to the reason for my post. like i mentioned earlier on this thread every time a dre affiliated project falls through, people automatically blame dre. most of the time that is totally unfair. when it comes to music dre has few faults. dre's faults come from two of his biggest attributes, passion for music and his perfectionism. when dre first gets a project lined up he cannot contain his excitment and will sometimes drop a release date for that project to come out. usually its an unrealistic date. one example was announcing rakim's album would come out in spring of this year. it was not possible.but this reason has yet to be a reason a project has never dropped. dre's perfectionism will sometimes be a small factor in project's dying or stopping worthy songs from being released. but his two sometimes faults are also his biggest reasons for his past and future success. he won't change how he does things. but that reason is also never really a reason a project won't drop. dre decided not to pursue a few projects he originally was going to do for various reasons. the dre/trent reznor album was put off because dre was busy with 2001 and the mmlp. also reznor was releasing his double lp. dre remixed the track "even deeper" for that album and they were going to do a joint album together. when trents album flopped it sent him in a tailspin. they both, especially dre decided to drop the project. they have talked recently but we'll have to wait. Helterskelter was scratched because of the unfolding situation at death row. the criminal atmosphere of the death row studio kept dre away from the studio. plus suge was never going to release the album. it would have sat like nate doggs album along with many others. also, a few years ago cube decided that movies were much more important than music. so helterskelter will never drop. this brings us to the nwa reunion. THE NWA REUNION WILL NEVER HAPPEN. when the project was first brought up dre was the one who originally did not want to go backwards and do it. there is no nwa without dre. once dre decided to do it the same thing happened with cube. no ice cube no nwa. after using two leftover dre beats for chin check and hello the first recording sessions were scheduled to occur. dre, ren and even yella got together to start putting it together. ice cube had decided to take the role in his "mars" movie rather than work on the nwa project. again, no cube no nwa. it only took a few unproductive recording sessions with ren, dre and sometimes yella to realize that the nwa reunion wasn't going to work. dre wasn't happy with the early results and cube wasn't around. i for one am glad the project was scratched, even though i was pumped to work on it. first there was no eazy. in my opinion no eazy no nwa. also i think everyone realized that nwa getting back together was going backwards. dre, ren and cube aren't teenagers anymore, hungry, mad and desperate surrounded by negativity, gangs and violence. dre, cube and ren all matured grew up and left the old stomping grounds. all three had families all three had new perspectives and priority's had changed. an nwa album looked almost desperate and too negative. and in the end it just wasn't going to work.
as far as king t, eve and other early aftermath releases that never happened here is the reason. dre signed way too many artists out of the gate at aftermath. he started with way too big of scope and it took a while to realize that. after disappointing albums and a excess amount of artists, contracts, budgets and expenses dre knew aftermath would never make it unless he started over. he dropped every artist and started over. he fell down with his first experiences running a label on his own. he had to dump everything and start from scratch. only mel-man stayed on as a producer. dre had to drop king t's album. he had no choice. he had to move eve. fortunately dre got back on his feet, got his shit together, signed eminem and created the monster that Aftermath is now. and when it comes to rakim and hittman dre would be responisble for a small part of the blame. other factors have much bigger impact. i hope this clarifies some things.
-
i also wanted to thank ant and sir hambone for some much needed perspective and thoughtful points of view. i agree with ant about the bin laden song. he made many good points and made me rethink my thinking. although the track is extra special that does not mean it should come out. it is not the right way or the time.
it sounds like some of you have heard "the wash". to believe some of y'all doubted us, doubted dre. if that track can't make beilievers out of people nothing will.
someone asked me what i thought about "welcome to death row". the first 2/3 of it were outstanding and were real accurate and fair. it did a nice job of tracing suge's changes. he started out with the right attitude and the right intentions. and although he had small gang affiliations he was mostly a good kid who stayed out of trouble, came from a good home, played college football, hit the books and got a college degree. suge always enhances his street image by blowing his past up. at the same time he disses dre for his lack of street rep. but the fact is that both grew up esentially the same way. focused, out of trouble and intent on being successful. suge ain't really the gangsta he claims we was. but he is now. he changed a lot and the movie was accurate in that respect. beating up a woman severly isn't a big deal to him. he truly turned into a monster, and although i still believe that he was involved in pac's death i won't get into that again. the last third of the movie kind of let suge off the hook and even sucked up to him at the end, by including comments from people so scared of suge they'd praise him if he killed someone they loved. anyway enough about...oh shit i forgot his name. must be some washed up and depsperate has been. and the movie shouldn't have even really talked about pacs death cause they left out a lot of things and didn't go into the details or talk to the right people about it. another thing i didn't like was allowing alonzo of the wrecking crew to vent his jealosy towards dre with some stupid comments. he made a lot of other good points but dissing dre wasn't necessary.i loved some of snoops comments and the nate dogg mugg shot. overall it was good and very accurate in most cases. it is as close to the real story as you will get.
-
Hey mellow,
Thanks for all the info homeboy. I really appreciate it.
Peace
-
mellow, even if rakim doesn't drop the album, that's cool...i just hope that the tracks leak one day for my enjoyment...that cd was what i was looking forward to since last september when i heard that dre signed rakim...i know that talking about why isn't the right thing to do, so i'm a respect that and drop it...as for dre, i give him big ups and hope he continues to do his thang...oh yeah, and mellow you have to think G thang 2 when you hear the wash...that shit is like the illest shit i've heard since, well, a very very very long time...
it's like this and like that and like this and ugh, peace.
-

Thank u very much,peace!
-
you ask too many questions again ::)
but this shit with the albums made me think. the ones that got screwed, eve & king t and future projects. nwa, rakim, hittman. the fucked up thing is that they really want that 2 happen, but it just dont happen
