In light of tonights dignity fest in Northern Spain, it's about time the club made inroads to ridding ourselves of the Old Firm tag. Personally I hate it. It makes it easier for the hun media to involve us in things that have nothing to do with us. For one set of supporters to be applauded leaving a stadium to another rioting shows the massive gulf between the two. What's the betting we get dragged into the shambles in tomorrows rags when a week ago we were being lauded.
from another board. Spot on.

I just got out my bed ther, not had a chance to see the news or any of the papers...
Many arrested?

Any flights diverted to Cardiff?
Any trouble at Vigo airport?
Any fans shot in Amsterdam?
Any refs attacked?
You's arrested anyone for hitting Ricksen with that lighter yet?
You lot are no angels trust me!
The trouble in Spain do you know what actually happened?
-

The Spanish Police were their usual throwing their batons around hitting people
This started approx 1.5 to 2 hours before the game beside were the offical Rangers coaches were parked, the police were hitting innocent bystanders and laying into women, fans were then marched to the stadium in a line and were hit at will by the police, the police then started hitting Rangers fans inside the ground with none or little fightback from the Rangers fans, the police were used as segreation but when they started to go for fans at the rear of the stand fans moved forward which resulted in fans at the front of the stand being hit backwards from the police there. After the game Rangers fans were still in the ground (the norm for away matches in Europe) and when allowed to leave fans were again attacked by the police.
I personally know people both men and women who received a baton to some part of the body, and these people aren't the sort that would cause trouble, one of them is infact a police officer in Scotland who was disgusted at what happened.
There were a total of 2 arrests there one before the game and one after the game both for 'minor offences' and both released with no charges. Isn't this strange when some people seem to what to report it as Rangers fans causing trouble and rioting with police?
It was a case of foreign police officers wishing to have some bother with a large number of British fans
Here's a short video of outside the ground

Eh?
Did that amuse you?

There seems to be too many european police who dont seem to know how to handle british fans.

It could be time for British clubs taking their own security with them, surely UEFA must do something about the way that British club are treated in European games. If this sort of thing was to happen at a British ground then UEFA would be very heavy with a punishment IMO
Look at the way that West Ham, Manchester United and Rangers have been treated this season alone
-
IMO its not just the police, there are many british clubs who have had games in europe without ANY trouble at all...
Its sections of the support who travel looking for trouble!!
I know the police are more strict and 'hands on' but they dont just randomly attack fans, if this was the case then all british clubs that went to europe would be attacked!

Mate you are talking shit. It has been proven in the past that the police have attacked British/English fans, just for being English. Madrid in 1990 (I think it was). English fans have a bad reputation so the police always go over the top when it comes to policing. E.G, the segregation to that island in Italia 90. THeres been too many examples for it to be coincidence.

You said it yourself mate!
Why do they have this bad reputation?
English fans get treated the way they do becos they cause trouble where ever they go! FACT

Yeah the national side have a very bad reputation and sometimes un justily that is taken out on english club side fans.

But when have we behaved differently to any other fans when they go abroad? Ok Luxembourg was a disgrace but that was what about 15/20 years ago. Every other battle since then has been with/started by opposing fans who have behaved in exactly the same manner. E.G, Germany at last years World Cup finals. Police on the continent hold British fan's as all HOOLIGANS when FACT is they are not. Only a minority are. That doesn't give anybody the right to hit you with a baton. Thats how fights will start.

Rangers fans were caught spitting and throwing objects at the Osasuna fans below.
That's why the trouble started.
Anyone who wants a link of the proff just argue this point.
-
Its funny i dont remember police getting "heavy handed" in the ground when Celtic were in Valencia, Villareal, Barcelona or Vigo (Most of trouble was at airport)...Bang goes the "police hate british clubs" theory.

The trouble started 1.5 to 2 hours before the game when fans were outside the ground and that is a fact
Riot police surrounded the square and bus parks around this time and were hitting folk

Was it the Blackburn game when you got most of your arrests out of 42 on the day of the match 26 were Celtic fans which was actually 20% of all arrests with English club matches in Europe that season, these figures are from the Home Office
Still haven't answered my points made earlier, with regards to trouble in Vigo, flight diverted to Cardiff, shooting in Amsterdam, fans hitting ref with a coin and then later that evening smashing his windows in his house, or whether or not you's have arrested anyone for hitting Fernando Ricksen with a lighter when he went to take a corner at Parkhead, what about Rapid Vienna due to fan behaviour
-

For nothing, yeah? For wearing blue?

There was a party atmosphere around the square for the previous 2 days and then as kick off got closer the riot police appeared
Also when the offical Rangers Travel Club buses parked a large police element arrived at looked menacing
This is from close friends of mine who were at the game on Wednesday night, not from the impartial ::) Scottish media ::)
Why did you's have trouble in Vigo then? Just for wearing green?

Well they do say the best form of defence is attack.

I've answered all questions or comments directed to my club and trouble that we have had
The response seems to be that Celtic don't get in any or have trouble at all ::)
So when I ask questions I never receive a response or I receive one like that
I believe that the phrase 'the silence speaks volumes' is rather apt here
-

I think we can all safely say that isn't true.

True but you wouldn't think this by some of the posts and stories going around
