He seems to be the only artist that listens to the fans then gives them what they want.
I remember when he released "DPGC: U Know What I'm Throwin Up" and a few other weak projects on DPG Records, everybody was sayin the albums were weak, generic, not really his style and everyone just wanted some G-Funk type music from Daz. So then he came out with "The Dogg Pound Gangsta LP" filled with the breezy West Coast music.
Last year him and Kurupt released that garbage "Cali iz Active". Again, everyone felt like they tried to hard to make mainstream music and wanted them to make some good West Coast music. I'm listenin to "Dogg Chit" right now and its obvious that he went back in the studio to give the fans what we wanted.
Props Daz. I wish more artist were like you.

some of his music is dope .. "Vibe" and "good ass day" where kool and all.... but other than that.. dude is fallin off.. he's not consistant enough.. and well.. im a dogg pound fan and all.. and ya know,, i used to like daz's music alot.. but i dunno anymore.. he needs to change up his style.. he still has that same musical style from 95'.. but i even think he was better than.. i was realy dissapoited when i heard "So So Gangsta" after years of waiting.. for this.. the thing that sucked was as it got closer i would hear song's leak.. ya know as in "Party people" feat Jagged Edge and J.D. song was dope as hell.. so i mean i was thinkin oh shit!! album is gonna be dope.. so than a couple years go by,.. than tha album drops.. i mean tha songs that were dope were "All i need" and "On sum real shit" but they were both produced by J.D...

Daz is the shit i dont give a fuck what anyone says....cali is active was not garbage...a few songs werent that hot eg: track wit diddy, track wit david banner beat but the rest was hot as fuck....second...so so gangsta was a hot ass album , minus 1 or 2 tracks and the tracks he produced on there like thats that nigga and rat tat tat tat reminded me of sum Dogg Food shit....he aint fallin off one bit..and i saw the video wit that no body hot dolla gettin at him...its obvious daz could beat the shit out of that lil fuck any day of the week but like everyone says dolla was prolly wit a bunch of ppl and so u know...guys could get severely hurt or even killed steppin to a crowd of guys like that. i got all of daz's albums and dude will always be the shit no matter what.
-
i think he just is good at gettin his act together. he doesn't have to wait 10 years to make a shitty "return to my old style" album
-
Shit, because that was all he had when he left Death Row was his music. So he took it back to the hood and sold out of the trunk of his car and hit up message boards to let fans know when he was dropping. He knew that was the only way he could keep his name alive after he left Death Row.
-
yeah cali iz active was dope.. but the majority of that album wasnt produced by daz.. i dont even think daz produced 1 track.. the producers on that album were battlecat.. david banner.. swizz beatz.. jazzy pha.. LT Moe.. soopafly.. ryan leslie and Rick Rock 1 song that i bump though is that Swizzy Track.. sittin on 23'z.. bad ass track..

im with u, dogg chit is bumpin so hard now. cali iz active was pretty cool, a couple of weaker tracks. all of his solo's were bumpin also, too many haters

i know of few dre proteges/dre trained producers that aren't dope.
scott storch-dope
warren g-dope
budda-dope
glove-dope
hi-tek-dope
focus-dope
mel-man-dope
mike elizondo-dope
etc.
why wouldn't daz be dope?
and he is a more than competent rapper, he outshines Kurupt alot more than any of us Kurupt die-hards (me being one) care to admit.

+1
also, your main point is dead on. while other artists chase fancies(dre), get lazy (Kurupt), get resentful of their fans to the point of warping themselves to garbage (eminem-encore) and of course, sell out and make bad music (50 cent) daz's main policy has always been to please the people.

i agree with ya..
he outshines alot of rappers on 'anthem' songs.. He has a flow that is sick and he always uses some catch phrase to make you remember him.
-
Ye he's always got a good flow... even though many of his lyrics are just recycled same ol same ol shit... he definitely does get lazy... but ye you got to give him credit because he stays on his grind and is always puttin out new music and I think he cares about what his fans think... which most artists should... his production is still sick in my opinion... I like dpg westcoast man.... Kurupt can change his material but daz is always gonan be doin this gangsta ass westcoast shit coz that's what he does and he do it well... I don't want him to switch up his style... coz as so so gangsta revealed... daz can't go mainstream (major) anymore man... it's a cut throat industry... these older cats (no disrespect) have a loyal following of fans and that's who daz should be and is concentrating on pleasing... dogg chit is prime example of this.

Yeah exactly. And I feel what you said about the lyrics. Even tho he recycles a lot of his old lyrics, I'd rather him do that then to just get sloppy like Kurupt did. As long as the song is good I'm happy, you don't have to spit like Nas to satisfy me.

yeah i know.. that westCoast vibe is kool.. and i love it too.. but the thing that Daz does is make his stuff sound pretty much the same.. he dosent have to switch up.. to bite the south.. or whatever.. but he should change up a bit.. ya know.. like Battlecat for example.. Dude keeps it Westcoast.. but manages to change up his style.. and its like whoa!!!.. thats why cat is one of the top producers in da westcoast.. his shit just sounds Fresh..

well off dogg chit the last track "Blaze it up" it seems like hes takin elements out of southern music, its not that norml west coast beat, iv heard daz do alot of beats that could have easily been a producer from NY or the south, but still keep it a westcoast track
-
for sure ..daz released alot good shit indy..like RAW..D &YG, this is the life i lead, etc

R.A.W. is as good as SIAM to me, same era

man aint this the day of wise comments, fuck dat, im all with you on this one man, Cali Iz Active aint bad at all, just the 2 songs with nate dogg on it shouldnt have made the final cut, and get replaced by a real nate dogg song, not that shitty as background vocals, thats basically all, i would give it a 4/5 if i had to rate it.

Daz may not be a great rapper, but he is one of my favorite. He always has a track or two floating out there on the net at all times. That what I like about him, he is always giving us a great track to blaze it up too.
-
Damn I can't wait to get off the reservation and pick this CHIT up!! 8)
-
to be real. compare Skandalouz (produced by Daz) from All Eyez On Me to the whole Dogg Chit album.
Daz is a good producer but he lost his old incredible style.
