Dubcnn recently got the chance to speak with a man who normally lets the music do the talking. Ervin "EP" Pope is from Watts, California and is behind a host of familiar hits. West coast hip hop fans will most readily recognize EP for his hard hitting production on The Game's Doctor's Advocate with the track, "Lookin At You". We sat down for an exclusive video interview with the rising star to discuss his musical influences, get the low-down on how he entered the game as well as getting a full breakdown on his career thus far via his array of plaques. This is an incredible opportunity to take a look behind the scenes with a producer who has worked with Jay-Z, Brandy, Kanye West, G-Unit, Janet Jackson, Snoop Dogg, and The Game. We get the word on upcoming projects and ask how he feels about the Westcoast right now.
As always, Dubcnn will be premiering some exclusive audio from EP soon, as he is currently in the studio with DJ Skee and The Game working on a new mixtape.

Good interview J, the beat is nuts!
-
Sounds like a real cool dude. So he basically produced "Dreams"? i didn't even know he worked on all them other songs too. Good interview.
-
is there footage of him walking around showing the plaques? i knew he did that Game joint but i had no idea how extensive his catalog is.
-
yeah the interview video shows him walking around next to each plaque and talking about what he did for each album. check the main video out and also the beat video. its ridiculous. guy is super talented.
-
this aint ben harper, that's cool.
yeah the beat is sick, very p funky.
he didn't produce dreams per se, but he did work on kanye with it.
kanye had a sample and he had dude play to that sample, then i'm sure Kanye tightened up the whole thing/did the drums.
cool ass vid, will be on the lookout for more of this guy. but i felt like that even when i heard DA

what do you mean by "this aint ben harper, thats cool" ? dont understand , haha.
I mean he explained it as co-producing, maybe he did take a part in orchestrating the whole production, we'll never know. but we do know that he contributed many of the instruments. Hes kind of like Scott Storch to Dr. Dre, but to Kanye instead. and I mean the Kanye name is just way more marketable, so there might be some label politics behind all that and everything.

i wasn't even gonna watch the video im glad i did that beat was nice he sick wit them keys

oh uh....it's like this ain't you, what's cracking. kinda like, "well if it isn't so-and-so" like, It's kind of like saying "i wasn't expecting ben harper to be among his collaborators, that's cool"
and when he said co producing he seemed to me, at least, to be saying that he co produced some joints and just did the instruments on some other songs. but you could be right, his statements did not go into the semantics of all that.

o.ok fasho.haha yeah, i feel what youre saying. Yeah EP started out with ben back in 95 though, so EP couldve had a much different sound or style back then. and like he said, he started up playing in the church with gospel music.
EP will also responsible for that 1AM track by The Game. and is currently working on a project with Roccett and Topic.

I'll check him out but I thought the lookin at you beat was just so so
