this may piss some of yall of but hey its the truth...really most of the albums being dropped lately by the west this year have been almost all disappointments...really..lets see...bad azz..blah, boring beats..average...kurupt...what the hell a half pop album..major, major disapointment, eastsidaz...very average nothing great, DPG...shitty production, hooks, and boring lyrics....man i was soooo looking forward to these albums and came out majorly disappointed. and thats not even mentioning the latest 2 pac...garbage...whens the last DOPE westcoast album to drop...xzibit and snoops and that was a year ago... and where is dre...producing for pop artists like eve, no douby, mary j blige and thats just naming a few. now i havent heard the liks yet and from what i hear for the message board the new bones soundtrack not surprisingly isnt that good....i think the west needs new faces and talent...really its just stuck on the artists thats been carrying them for years now...thats why im rather excited to hear what death row will drop...so what they are no names..you have to get start somewhere right...and at least it'll be fresh and not someone we've already heard a 100 times before...hopefully stuff like ras kas, the wash and hopefully soon crooked i will drop and be DOPE...any yall feelin me

Both the Kurupt and Eastsidaz albums were great. End of story.

you gotta piont the west isn't really on top right now, the eastsiddaz was good not great, bad azz didn't sell, kurup yes was popish on a couple tracks but it had some tight songs, but hey we got the wash soundtrack, nates album and warren g's new on eto look forward to. and don't worry rap goes in cycles and tthe west will be back, and i defenatly agree dre should produce more west coast acts!

The one I still bump is Bad Azz... that CD is still rotating... Kurupt stopped after a week... I couldn't stand it... and as for Eastsidaz... I jumped on it quick... but battlecat started boring me...

good point. the only albums ive really liked this year have been DPG, Chico & Coolwadda, and Bad Azz. Theyre all albums that take new steps in one way or another and dont get boring at all. Top notch lyrics and production.
Kurupt and Eastsidaz played out very quick. Short Khop's cd was okay but not fantastic.
and still i dont see much coming out that wil impress me. Nate Doggs shit will be pop, i dont expect shit from warren G, Jayo's new shit will be the same ol gangsta ish. nobodys coming with something new. only albums im lookin forward to right now are Ras Kass, Crooked I, Above The Law, and Defari.
oh yea, this Contraversy album is going to knock some of these played out mufuckas out the water if everyone jumps on it. its the new shit, believe it.

yeah this year it was a real poor showin by west coast artists in general... with the exception of xzibit and snoop dogg which was last year .. otherwise the sales have been poor and so have the quality of the songs.. and no body had performed consistently in the billboard charts so far... neway the year is not yet over..

As bad as things are right now as far as West Coast hip hop, I will never look forward or support any new Death Row releases or artists. As for Crooked I, let him join a real record company and I will support him. It will happen sooner or later. We do more harm than good when we support DR. Check out Sohh.com and notice they are releasing more old Snoop Dog music. Just what the WC needs.

i think it's time for an new westcoats atist to blow up, allmost all the artists today was new for 10 years ago. xzibit is a pretty new artist, he have only been in the game for bout 5 years...

It's all 'bout the music; 1 or 2 songs can't carry an album, you need MUSIC & PRODUCTION skills. There's only a couple of PRODUCERS on the WESTCOAST that are musically challenged right now (DRE & QUIK). They both are musicians and understand The Total Package. Also, they are always reinventing themselves and their music. I like the WC Sound but the producers need to challenge themselves and the artists their working with. Listen to DRE & QUIK Albums without concentrating on the lyrics and you'll see you're on a MUSICAL ESCAPADE !!!

Both Kurupts and Tha Eastsidaz albums are a good 9/10 for me, in my opinion anyway, Dogg Pound 2002 is pretty poor, but mos def looking forward to both Nate Dogg and Warren G's albums

noone's really runnin the game right now, maybe jigga...but i don't think that the westcoast is slippin right now, i just think that they are there and nothing more to this point...they need a real dope album to hit the streets to bump them up...and some real tight singles like "still dre" you know...the eastcoast isn't really going crazy now either nor is the south...it's really a period right now where everyone is waiting for something to blow right up...jigga is really blowing up but that's not what i'm talking about though...we'll have to wait and see, peace.
