Title: Does anybody NOT...?
Post by: floatin_above_everything on March 30, 2007, 01:41:00 PM
Does anybody not really care about Dr. Dre/Detox anymore? I don't think his production is standout anymore, his rapping has always been so so, and him being on a record just wouldn't make much of a difference too me. I did like Young Buck's "Hold On", Stat Quo's "Get Low", Nas "Hustlers", and a couple joints on Busta's album, but I think he's fallen off in a way as far as making curret music. All his recent beats have been good, just not great. "Imagine", "Lost One's", the other beats on Snoop's album, were nothing special at all imo.

I won't be hyped about it until I see or hear something for sure is coming out. I will pretty much be able to tell off of the 1st single where Dre is going with this. If there is any producer that can pull off some other shit, it's Dre. He will definitely try to change the game once again with Detox. But when it comes out, I don't know and I am tired of trying to figure out when it will.

Detox aside, what about if Dre is going to produce something on an upcoming release. Does it have the same feeling of an automatic cop, or is just another producer nowadays?

The stuff he did on Young Buck's album was very average to me. But I am lovin that Round Here beat. The attention to detail on it for a sampled song is nice.

I won't be too hyped for Detox until a single is released. At least then I know that the album will follow eventually. I stooped getting hyped over Dre's productions a while ago. He is still pretty good, but you gotta wonder when he'll retire. People say he's still the greatest, but how many beats does he release a year? What else does he have to accomplish? He's already the best hip-hop producer dead or alive. In the mean time I'll just pass the time until Detox drops.

Well I haven't really heard a producer that sounded that good over the last few years. I like Mannie fresh, he rarley comes weak. Scott Storch is dope, even though he is a douche. I Love almost everything Alchemist does also. Aside from that every producer out there is hit or miss too me. I don't even care who did the beat to a track anymore. Again, I'm not saying Dre's wack, he's just not spectacular any more. And my maint point of the thread is to find out if anyone is a) anticipating Detox anymore, and b) would it influence anybody's decison to by an album if Dre beats were featured on it.

a) I don't really anticipate it yet, if it drops I will pick it up

b) Hell yeah I still buy a album with Dre beats on it and they are one of the first beats I listen to on a release.

Alchemist & DJ Premiere are high up there on that list. Same with DJ Quik, Erick Sermon, etc.
