-
I hope it's more than that, CIA did 38k its first week I think it'll do around 25-30k
-

Not selling much out here, our Best Buys are stock full of them. I think D & YG II did something like 10-15 K 1st week. I'll go out on a limb and say 20K.
-
i'll give it 30-35 k
-
20K
at least i bought it, so i cant blame myself :D

cool to hear they were sold out but i guess it depends on how many copies the shop actually received. If they only got 4 copies then they aint gonna sell big units.

one of the best buys told me they got 10 copies.
also, each store I hit that was sold out told me I was not the first to come in and look for the album since it sold out.

Well first off they are on a indie label. With Koch you have to hustle to get your name out there and promote yourself. They did quite a bit of promo for CIA and that did around 30-35k. The most successfull album Daz has had since doing the indie thing was D&YG and that is around 300k so I would say 20k the first week and probably around 150-200k overall. And on Koch that is good money.
-
most artists are better off going indie.

yea best buy was sold out for me too and also circuit city

45k? :( Redman deserves a platinum plaque for this album.
-
i don't know, but i hope 30 000 for dpg

That's horrible. He has a slammin single and his album is fucking great. Watch Def Jam not even fucking promote the album.
-
arggggggg redman !!
-
it'll do about 20-30, 000
sad, because if they dropped a video 2 t.v. in advance of the albums release (like they did on CIA) they would of sold more then CIA, because Vibe is more radio friendly then cali iz active <<--single, not the album)

i think they are equally commercial tracks, perhaps CIA being a bit more commercial

I can't find Dogg Chit anywhere. It's all sold out. Was it released in limited numbers?
-
I'm going to say 17,000. Even if they sell 80,000 total, let's see, how much do they make per album sold? I'll go conservative and say like $6/album. 80,000 x $6 = $480,000. Divide that evenly among the two of them = $240,000. After taxes that's like $150,000. Damn, I don't want to hear about bootlegs hurting their profit margins and shit. I wish I made that much off like 3 weeks of work.
Am I right?

Word. That sounds about right. I can already see where this thread is going with most people. If it sells 100-200k that is success on a indie like Koch. And they did that with Cali Iz Active. And it is a grip of money. I am not expecting it to go gold, that is not even realistic for alot of artists on majors. I just would like to see the album be promoted well, maybe 1 or 2 more singles/videos and for it to do well, whatever the numbers are. Hell, I want that for alot of albums at this point. The industry is down alot right now.
-
I wonder how much Ice Cube made on Indy since he went Gold

WC said in that interview he did with Nima that Cube is getting 9 dollars a record.
-
That's roughly 4.5 million before taxes :o
-
anyone have updates on this? i don't have an account at hitsdailydouble.com >:(

Yeah I did a rough guess since I didn't know exactly how much he went over gold (which is 500k shipped)
-
wonder how DPG has done so far....
-
Do you really think Daz and Kurupt divide the profits evenly? That shit wouldnt be fair. Daz produces the songs and raps on them Kurupt only raps on them. I think that Daz may get a lil more of the profits than Kurupt does. This is only fair. Also, I wonder how much DPG had to pay Game, TOO short, and snoop dogg for guest appearances.

lil jon & scott storch beats dont come cheap though! and he had a few on there..
plus marketing expenses...

Not much. Most artists that are good friends in the industry are not going to charge alot if anything at all to be on their album. Game explained it when Kanye did Dreams for his first album as that is a expense the label takes care of. He asked Kanye how much he wanted and he said nothing. But for royalty purposes you have to be paid something so he put 1 dollar. I have to find the whole interview, it is on MTV. But indie artists do not have alot of money to be paying out for that so they usually do a favor for a favor.
-
yeh and with daz n kurupt being on too shorts and games new albums i reckon it was a favour for a favour

May have considered it a favor for doing work on Crunk Juice. Lil Jon was helping Cube find a deal for his album and was considering signing him to his label. Same with Scott Storch. I am sure they are compensated but I am sure they are not asking for millions to do tracks for Cube.

Artists do it all the time. Smart business move.
